What do you think about this Joules jacket?

The other day I saw 2 people on two different occasions wearing this jacket.
I love especially the gold detailing, that’s what caught my eye actually on it ( I asked the wearer where her coat is from)
The jacket is actually more like khaki colour than beige in real life.
Thoughts? I have so many jackets already… but I need this one badly..
Anyone has one?

I quite like it. but maybe not enough to buy it if I already had several jackets. Joules is not very cool, I guess, but I have always found their jackets good quality.

Juneraining · 15/06/2024 11:33

@CharlotteRumpling yeah, I do have some of their Coast jackets in much brighter colours like yellow or pink.
This one looks like no much details on but the gold bits really stand out in real life.
Funnily enough I looked this particular coat up last year but thought it’s so plain, dull and boring but only when i actually have seen it live on people I like it.
The pics online do not do any justice to it for some reason..

I don't like the colour, but that's probably because it wouldn't suit me, and if you say that it looks different real life then 🤷🏻‍♀️

Joules coats are usually good quality and practical. I guess depends on what you intend to wear it with. That style of coat will go well over skinny's/leggings, but not so much with wide legs, which are more in style atm.

InSpainTheRain · 15/06/2024 11:47

I think it looks good on the model, but on me it would just look frumpy. There is nothing remotely distinctive about it and that colour does it no favours.

PoachedScrambledBoiledFried · 15/06/2024 11:55

I have it in blue and it's a good in-between weather coat, especially the weather we've been having.

AndSoFinally · 15/06/2024 11:57

I tried this on, and they come up really big. I'm usually a 10-12 and the 8 was still a bit too big

henlake7 · 15/06/2024 12:01

I like it, really nice basic neutral jacket.
TBH the way the weather is going everybody should have a decent waterproof coat!LOL

CharlotteRumpling · 15/06/2024 12:06

I like the navy better, I think? I was just thinking that instead of buying summer clothes, I should buy an in between waterproof coat!

Asparename · 15/06/2024 12:09

I thought joules had gone into receivership. I think the quality has gone down a lot over the recent years.

Juneraining · 15/06/2024 13:16

The clothes look a bit different than used to.
I got another Joules Coat on Vinted literally new for about £5 and the quality seems great on that one..anyway I just ordered this one..

I saw this in the shop last week. It looks a lot more 'mumsy' in real life.

MartyFunkhouser · 15/06/2024 13:35

It’s the height of frump imo.

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 15/06/2024 14:17

I don't even think it looks good on the model.

Purplecatshopaholic · 15/06/2024 14:24

Practical is the best word I can find for that. It’s defo practical.

Blah12345678999 · 15/06/2024 14:34

I think it looks quite nice and stylish for a raincoat personally! I’ve bought jackets, coats and tops from joules and they seem to have lasted, although normally buy in the sale. Think it’s also how you wear it too!

Blah12345678999 · 15/06/2024 14:36

Yes, I like the gold detail too, think it depends on what it’s like IRL though, I’m also not a fan of buying things at full price though 😅

PenelopeBridgerton · 15/06/2024 14:41

I've got the Portwell one which is similar but it's 'neutral' ie beige. I jsut bought it because I needed something decent for work when it's raining (so every day.) It's lovely and practical for this weather. It's probably frumpy but I don't care, I see people in more frumpy stuff all the time, I think it looks reasonably decent with most clothes options.

Pigeonqueen · 15/06/2024 16:45

It’s alright. Looks like the sort of thing you could buy for half the price from Cotton Traders.

CharlotteRumpling · 15/06/2024 16:48

I don't care about looking frumpy at all. Most of the sugggestions on S and B are not to my taste-the endless floral dresses with puff sleeves for instance-so I might as well please myself.

However, I have seen that model for a lot cheaper in October maybe?

RefusingToPlayYourGames · 15/06/2024 16:58

It's like something a man of 80 might wear 😂

Purplecatshopaholic · 15/06/2024 14:24

Sadly with the current weather practical is usually the best option....🙁

Easipeelerie · 15/06/2024 17:05

Fine on the model. Frumpy on most people.

Summertimer · 15/06/2024 17:12

For a moment I wondered why the model wasn’t wearing anything on her bottom half. Horrible colour of leggings 🤣

I personally don’t like practical jackets to be such neutral colours. I also don’t like pulled in waists on coats. But these are just personal preferences

Gladespade · 15/06/2024 17:18

I really like it - but then I do think I probably shouldn't be on style and beauty, as I look at that and think 'pockets, hood, sensible length - very practical - I want it'

Juneraining · 15/06/2024 17:32

@Summertimer the pulled in waist bit it’s there however you can make literally invisible by loosen the string by so it doesn’t look like it has it at all.
@CharlotteRumpling yeah, they had it reduced half price some months ago when I first looked but then it sold out almost immediately. Now it’s full price which I’m not too keen too as a bit pricey..
It does look like Ray’s Cropper coat a bit but however looks better in real life as it’s darker, almost khaki.
