What socks are bed socks?

MishkaNorushka · 11/06/2024 22:31

A colleague has mentioned bed socks today but we are not close enough for me to explore the topic further. None of my socks are good for sleeping in - sports too tight, footsies just no, winter merino socks too scratchy, winter walking socks too hot. Clearly, there is a whole new exciting category to explore.

Please share a few links, what would you recommend as bed socks?

M&S or White Company cashmere. Just don't walk in them, they won't survive !

Hohofortherobbers · 11/06/2024 22:49

Heatholders. Love them

Fruitbatdancer · 11/06/2024 22:49

Some of best and cheapest I’ve found is in shoe zone! (I also rate their slippers!)
FML I’ve turned into my mother!!!

TheSingingBean · 11/06/2024 23:01

I wear Solmate's mismatched socks, they're great. Recycled cotton, keep my feet warm but not too hot.

Magpie50 · 11/06/2024 23:15

It's just fuzzy socks! You can get them anywhere, especially supermarkets and drug stores around Christmas time.
I get most of mine from primark. Bed socks are awesome......I love cosy feet!

DevonshireDumpling38 · 13/06/2024 17:55

Socks I have worn in bed:
Ski socks, but not the long ones, yellow, known sarcastically as the sexy socks
Last night I just kept the socks on that I had worn all day (clean when first put on)
I believe there are cashmere bed socks, but a sock is a sock, is it not?

MaGueule · 13/06/2024 18:20

I second cashmere bed socks from The White Company (although John Lewis has a range of lovely bright colours each year which I also quite like)

Do not, I repeat do not let your cashmere socks within sniffing distance of a Labrador. Mine love them and I lost two pairs last winter!

CountryMouse22 · 13/06/2024 18:43

If you don't want to slip on slippery floors, I recommend these. They have a sort of studs on the soles that are useful. I can't use anything else!

You can get packs of nice cashmere mix socks in TKMAXX in the winter, relatively cheaply, they make good bed socks. In fact it’s been so chilly lately I’ve been using them - can’t remember doing that in June before.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 13/06/2024 19:04

Socks you wear in bed?

I wear those little trainer sock things in the winter as I get cold feet but don't like the bands around my calves...

custardcreme77 · 13/06/2024 19:24

I love my bed socks. I can’t sleep if my feet are cold.

ChrisPPancake · 13/06/2024 19:38

My absolute favourite ones are from Fat Face. They're woollen cable socks lined with fleece and they're proper toasty.

Lokshen · 13/06/2024 19:40

White company cashmere. Wash as infrequently as you can get away with and don't walk around in them.

Wigtopia · 13/06/2024 19:41

For me it’s home made wool ones, specifically made with double knit wool, 75% wool 25% acrylic 🤩 this means you don’t get sweaty feet due to the high wool content, but the 25% acrylic makes them a bit more durable than if they were 100% wool.

drawnfrommemory · 13/06/2024 19:49

I've got some lovely cashmere ones from Hush. Other than that, I like The White Company ones as pps have said.

CurryOnRegardless · 13/06/2024 19:57

Bed Socks need to not be tightly elasticated.

The White Company cashmere ones are so light and you can hardly feel you have them on - except for the incredible warmth.

antwacky · 13/06/2024 19:59

I received a pair of these bed socks as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago and I absolutely love them. I've since bought myself another few pairs and have bought them as gifts for family and friends who also love them. I've bought some of their day socks and they are fab too, I'm gradually replacing all of my socks with Boody socks.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 13/06/2024 20:00

Bed socks are usually named as that, they’re softer and fluffier.

candycane222 · 13/06/2024 20:05

I second the advice that for full comfort bed socks need to be "soft top" and generally not snug anywhere. I have some polyester fluffy ones, that sort of supersoft finish - sure they were inexpensive (gift from dd when she was on pocket money only) that meet this criterion perfectly and yes, I am wearing them in June! 🥶

Spudoolikay · 13/06/2024 20:15

I've worn bedsocks all my life as have terrible circulation and cold feet. Socks aren't enough on their own a lot of the time and I usually have to have a hot water bottle to stop them cramping and then bedsocks to keep warm.

Best ones I found a couple of years ago were in sainsburys! Super fluffy (almost like fake fur) but sadly not quite long enough. Only socks I've ever known to actually warm my feet up! Going to be checking out primark next winter as they sound similar!

Women's Cashmere Bed Socks | Cashmere Accessories | Brora (broraonline.com)

I had a pair of these about 15 years ago and they were incredible but I'm not sure if the quality would be the same now. Can't afford them now anyway! (They were a lot cheaper at that point, and also massively reduced in a post-Xmas sale)

But what a pp said, basically -- bed socks should be so soft and light that you barely feel them and are just magically warmed by them. No elastic to impair circulation.

I would stick to natural fibres too, not a "fuzzy" synthetic.

Shiveringinthecountry · 13/06/2024 21:34

Yuk! They make my feet tingle. Get a hot water bottle instead Smile

1000x this.
