All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

no, he's watching me with love

Enid · 11/04/2008 21:31

ok I'm joking, yes he is still away

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 11/04/2008 21:33

I like the sound of the tanning trompe l'oeil. !!

marina · 11/04/2008 21:34

LOLOLOL spin it out for as long as you can then, that's my advice
Batters, fab news on dwindling bosoms even if you were used as teaching aid
I was once the centre of astonishment at a Vidal Fecking Sassoon modelling session as the teenage Italian trust-fund twink assigned to me had never seen "such large ears" before and alleged he could not cut my hair. I felt about two inches high (and six feet wide natch .
He was so lucky not to get stabbed in about 1000 places with tiny scissors.
I cannot pass Davies Mews even now without wanting to firebomb the place, frankly.

Prufrock · 11/04/2008 22:11

Your ears aren't big marina. Either that or you have a very good hairdresser now who hides them well.

Sculpting was amazing - you realy could (from a distance) think I had toned thighs and arms, and a six pack. They just do a first coat, then dab a bit extra on the bits they want to go inwards.

I'm feeling slightly better, though did have another dip at 6ish today. Dh came home early to "help" and proceeded to spend 30 minutes on the PC bying Champions leaugue tickets, took dogs out, then went to the gym, leaving me to deal with kids tea, and cook his as he was going out at 8pm. I was a bit angry and shouty.

Prufrock · 11/04/2008 22:12

Batters -is it the berlei shock absorber bras you have - dh calls me 7 when I'm wearing mine. I've found a great place for gym gear - tlc. Some of it is gross, but they do sportswear that's like magic knickers. It's really comfortable but does actually hold wobbly bits in. They have good sales as well so you don't have to pay full price if you aren't fussed about colours.

unknownrebelbang · 11/04/2008 22:13

Loving the idea of a contoured prufrock.
I think my legs are worst - fat knees, chunky calves, and thick ankles in that fetching shade of milk-bottle-white, hehe. Shame really cos my hips are quite svelte in comparison . I stick to trousers, or occasionally very long skirts, lol.

DH shares the milk-bottle-white shade, but does have rather fetching race-horse calves, lol.

Duchess, not sure it helps, but DS1 was back-to-back and he was the easiest birth of my three (I guess that probably says more about t'other two tbh).

  • Sunscreen yy
  • Am drinking Eden Fruits as I type, but it must be good for me - it's got fruit in it
  • No exercise.
  • Lots of weak tea.
  • Apply body cream lax
  • Use hand cream lax
  • Go to bed early, stupid o'clock, but I then slept through.
  • Eat healthily, not too bad today, but I've got treats tonight.
  • Be happy. Yes, tis le weekend! and we can have an unexpected lie-in in the morning which is a novelty. The boys have been forewarned to get up and go downstairs QUIETLY to watch the box if we're not awake, lol.
moonshine · 12/04/2008 09:01

Good morning all,
Batters - wow on breasts news (even if it needed an audience to confirm it) - you obviously still have an impressive stack there . I'm pretty sure I've never worn the right bra for my ever changing boobs as I have only ever invested in about 2 different sizes.

(Skims over the fact that dd1 was a back-to-back baby for the sake of Duchess's mental state).

And at hairdresser's comment to Marina. I would have been tempted to grab some clippers and use them liberally on him. I know a lot of Italians who are not known for their interpersonal skills (my dad for starters and his family).

I thought I was reasonable yesterday (apart from the majority of a bottle of wine - ooops) but am more than 4lbs heavier than yesterday . Hoping it is a lot of bloat and not just the week catching up on me but I now have to go out and find some work trousers to go over my bloated stomach. Maybe I won't drink today (pauses...laughs hysterically...)

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 12/04/2008 09:07

Morning

I've been a bad bootcamper this week - after being so good last week. Need to be more consistent.

rebel - I have slim ankles and fat thighs - we could probably make up a decent pair of legs between us lol! Back later.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 12/04/2008 20:31

Shock Absorbers - oh yes, very 'spacey'.

Busy day again. Too many chores. Too many animals. Too many children!

I've eaten 2 x multi-grain cereal; lime juice & iron supp; pate sandwich (have been resisting the lure of a smooth Brussels pate for weeks and today gave in ); Flake; beans on toast with crispy bacon and apple & blackberry pie with cream.

Forgot to get the popcorn out for Dr Who though!

Lots of water, only 1 coffee. Face & hands yes. Body & feet no. Went to bed at 11pm-ish but more insomnia so beginning to feel very crap now. I very nearly got up to MN at 3am but listened to the storm instead (and the dog growling & barking at it).

Prufrock · 13/04/2008 00:03

I've just raised £400 on a bingo noght. and taht was with only 40 attendees (I am battling huge apathy amongst the pre-school/school community) It was great.

So I'm now relaxing with wine (didn't drink at night as had to drive excess booze/prizes home). Crap bootcamp due to illness/apathy. I don't care.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 13/04/2008 09:10

Well done Pru - it's an uphill struggle raising money for pre-sch isn't it? Few of our parents realise that their £9 fee only really covers hall & well qualified staff - if they expect their little darlings to paint or cook or play with nice toys then we need more money. We do well with a 'Family BBQ' in the summer if you want details.

Prufrock · 13/04/2008 11:41

We have our traditional sponsored trike ride every summer term duch - usually a good moneyspinner as long as the weather is OK, if it's raining everybody just comes for the trike bit and don't stick around for the bbq/stalls.

tortoiseSHELL · 13/04/2008 22:09

Hi all, am back from our Scottish ski-ing holiday (we go every year and always get strange looks when we put skis on the car in April...) - lots of snow, and ski-ing, and the children did lots of sledging and snowballing!

Hope you are all enjoying the school holidays. Back to bootcamp with renewed vigour!

(tis Enid)

lolol at batters dh needign to undress her

I realise weight loss isnt part of our mission but I am currently trying to lose 10lbs - I lost 4lbs last week so am seriously encouraged this week. My entire 'diet plan' consists of avoiding wheat and eating smaller portions - very useful for avoiding cakes, biscuits, huge slices of bread and butter and enormo portions of pasta.

Have reluctantly continued with body brushing but still have some really horrid looking spots so not sure how long I will continue. I must say it makes me feel very energised afterwards.

Drank a bottle of wine over three days at the weekend. Won't manage booze free this week as I have a book group meeting on Tuesday but will drive to it so I am not tempted to drink more than one glass...

Have been v good about the water and have been drinking a large glass of warm water every mornign before my cup of tea - a tip I gleaned from Judith Krantz's Scruples which I am secretly rereading in the canteen at work every time I nip down to make a coffee . It is rather fabulous.

SPF - a given, thanks to laura mercier

Feel very svelte and cheerful today - am slightly dreading return of dh (snoring , big nighttime meals, wine).

Marina, didnt manage to stay awake for madmen last night but was cheered to hear that it has been given a second series.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 14/04/2008 10:44

Happy Monday morning everyone.

Re: the baby position, it's moving around so much at the moment that I don't think I need to worry. It did several full somersaults yesterday that hurt like fuck quite a lot. So now it's probably breech.

lol at batters DH undressing you, I hope you didn't have your space-bra on or he'd still be faffing about with the straps!

enid - arf @ scruples. I've read that too! It's Wilhelmina from Boston is it not?

Yesterday, not much exercise other than feeding and cleaning animals. Drinking lots of water (not warm though, a la Wilhelmina).

Yesterday I ate cereal; roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, cauli, broccoli, carrots, peas and strawberries & cream; homemade bread & pate and homemade Victoria sponge filled with whipped cream, strawberry jam and sliced strawberries. By heck it was good! Oh and DH and I shared a vast bag of Tyrells crisps whilst watching Foyles War. Excuse for that is that I need the salt to prevent leg cramps in the night...

FYIAD · 14/04/2008 10:49

duchess go up the stairs sideways like a crab

is supposed to help move baby into correct position

(i did this religiously with dd2 & 3 after dd1 was transverse op)

marina · 14/04/2008 10:54

Morning all!
Also travelling right back in time to Judith Krantz thanks to FYIAD Those were the days! Princess Daisy, anyone?
Must remember to ask ultra-PC health-nut dsis if her affection for glasses of warm water is from Scruples
You have got to try and catch the repeat enid, it was a superb episode in terms of social comedy, truly. Not many panty-waists this time though. Fantastic job on the 4lb
Had a horribly busy weekend escorting dd to two parties, plus a very dodgy night out with friends, so high on happiness stakes. Dd is currently a flamenco dancer thanks to a fab gift of a dress-up outfit from her best friend at school, and close attention to Boogie Beebies. She would give Tara Morice a run for her money, I reckon.
Those somersaults really do hurt don't they DoNB. I won't say where ds was going when he made me sit down in the mud on Afton Down (site of the 1970 IoW Pop Festival) at 26 weeks...
Must get on exercise bike and stay on it inspired by batters, who is looking radiantly svelte, plus urgent need to whittle away at lard by end May to go to centreparcs without triggering a whale-watch alert in the tropical pool.
Glad you had a good trip torty and hope you feel better soon prufrock

FYIAD · 14/04/2008 10:56

have sky plussed it marina

marina · 14/04/2008 10:58

Enjoy - even though it does the silvery fox John Slattery no favours at all
Joan's four-square roomie Carol makes her first her appearance in a mannish tweed suit...

tharsheblows · 14/04/2008 13:20

Can I join? I didn't before because I didn't (notice past tense) use sunscreen. But now I'm a convert to the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser and don't leave home without it. Well, on my face, I mean. I leave the tube in the bathroom.

Batters is my hero with the weight loss. I've lost about 4 stone over the past year and a half and directly credit her posts about walking everywhere with keeping that going whilst I wasn't jogging. My friend and I are embarking on a "lose a stone before the summer hols" plan. Can I do that and this, too?

And this is a namechange for me - in the olden days I was "JJ" on here and still am in real life. Would feel weird if I didn't tell you that.

marina · 14/04/2008 14:10

Hello JJ, welcome aboard. (will not make any lame puns on Avast Behind, or 15 toddlers on a knackered mother's chest )
Good to see you and well done on that also inspiring weight loss

Prufrock, well done on the fundraising, v impressive.

Tshell, glad skiing was good, sounds fab.
