Teen DD wants one of these and they cost a fortune! I don't mind buying one but would really prefer to get one on offer. What are the chances of this?! We're in EU so not the UK prices. Anyone know if they're ever on sale at certain times of the year or if there's a different shop/site to get them?

I got mine new with tags on Vinted - luckily for £25. Not sure if you have Vinted where you are!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 05/06/2024 16:45

Thank you! I'm not sure either but will take a look. Definitely have eBay but didn't think of sites like that.

They are worth the price tag. Ours are 5 ish years old now and still going strong.

Be careful many of those on vinted are fakes. You see the same with new balance shoes - new with tags for a quarter of the price.

You can normally tell as the sellers have no feedback.

LetticeSlay · 05/06/2024 22:01

My teenagers have had these and I got them from My Fox Bag where they often have money off. They are sensible and practical bags. My oldest has the laptop size one and used it throughout her A levels and the first two years of university and it's still going strong.

LittleBrenda · 05/06/2024 22:02

My dd has one and I've got a feeling it came from somewhere in Europe. It might have been Green Bags. I'll look in my emails.

Hotpinkangel19 · 05/06/2024 22:02

I sold mine. Straps were uncomfortable and dug in, hated using it.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 06/06/2024 09:04

Thanks, I did wonder about fakes so will stay away from the 'new with tags' adverts.

Good to hear that they are sturdy and long lasting, I know DD would take care of it too she's done her research is really keen to get one. She thinks she's paying for half but I'll pay all of of it when the time comes, just would be nice to get a bit of a discount if possible!

Some good options on that littlegreenbag site, thanks @LittleBrenda

Honestly, they are worth the price tags and fakes are rife so I would personally just pay the price to not get a fake. I have one and its still going strong after using it pretty much everyday for 7 years.

mrspaulhollywood · 06/06/2024 09:58

Try Vinted! I got one from there a few years ago and it basically looked new.

mrspaulhollywood · 06/06/2024 09:58

Oops didn't see someone else sent that already! But it's a good suggestion 😂

LittleBrenda · 06/06/2024 12:51

I used to give mine a £40 new bag budget but since they both got kankens they have never needed a new bag again. They have been going strong for years now. It's probably saved me money overall.

WildCherryBlossom · 06/06/2024 13:19

2 of my DCs have them. They are definitely worth the money. They last forever so they have been an excellent investment. Previously we kept buying £30 rucksacks which fell apart after 6months. Kanken are great in so many ways: water resistance, comfort when carrying what appears to be a ton of bricks etc etc.

I would recommend darker colours though - the lighter ones pick up a lot of scuff marks

twentysevendresses · 06/06/2024 17:28

I've got the 'tote' in graphite. It's worth every penny!

Zoflorabore · 06/06/2024 17:33

I’m about to list one on Vinted, brand new with tags. Pink. My 13 year old dd asked for one for Xmas and I bought her one and so did her nanna who then lost the receipt and we just didn’t bother doing anything about it. Bought from Urban Outfitters for £85 I think it was. Happy to do a deal if you’re interested op.

My sister had a collection of these. She gave me one. I found it really uncomfortable to wear. And could t see the fuss. I've got several ROkA bags, and they are much better!

CowboyJoanna · 06/06/2024 17:42

Maybe put your foot down and tell her she doesn't have to have one just because all the other kids are Hmm

My kids have always got their bags cheap online or from the market. Never did them harm.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 06/06/2024 17:43

They do go on sale from time to time. My kanken was from My Bag which is part of The Hut group. Urban Outfitters sometimes reduce them and often outdoor shops do too. Not sure where you are though so probably no help other than confirming sales do happen. Mine was £43

Rebusmyfire · 06/06/2024 17:44

I sold my Kanken as I found uncomfortable on my shoulder area. I got a ROKka - very comfy, hoping it's hard wearing - 1 year in and no damage.

loppu · 06/06/2024 17:46

I bought one from John Lewis when they had some models 50% off.

Zoflorabore · 06/06/2024 17:50

There were some good sales on John Lewis just now op!

Well aren't you lovely?
Kankens really do last for years. I find my Roka bags much more comfortable when carrying heavy things as Kanken straps are thin. But I still love my Kanken and will use if for years to come.

AnCùDubh · 06/06/2024 17:55

Probably won't fly with a teenager but I deliberately bought a dupe as it had more padding in the straps and more pockets inside.
