I’ve just had a pair of air & grace Gala delivered. Very roomy in my usual size. Haven’t road tested them yet, but they’re very soft. Have some old moshulu ones too, also comfy. My feet err on the side side and I often find sandals tricky.

I've found all the footwear on this site wide fitting and super comfortable. I was able to drop a size to 39 because the width was right. They're not sexy but they're cute

Nubuck sandals

36,37,38,39,40,41,42

Ecco, moshulu, merrell and especially hotter very much ARE old lady sandals which is exactly what OP has asked to avoid!

OP why give up your Birkenstocks when they are in the middle of a revival?! Get some mocha arizonas

There's pretty much no different though in style between the more stylish ones from gabor etc, and ones from other shops.

As for the hiking sandals, Tevas are in fashion so why not?

sandgrown · 01/06/2024 15:29

Tevas are very comfy for my extra wide feet . They were featured in Vogue last year so can’t be too frumpy .

BobnLen · 01/06/2024 15:35

Saltwater Boardwalk, they are the ones with the slightly thicker sole.

That’s not really the way fashion works. Dupes are one thing but trying to say that hotter tourist sandals are similar enough to current fashions to be in style is just not true.

What do you use them for, OP?
Some of the ones linked to here, I would not walk far in.
I am wondering what an "old lady" sandal is.

I love Merrells (pic). I may buy mens to get wider toe box. Nothing else compares for comfort, and I can walk in them long distances over rough ground (helps that I'm < 70 kg). But they are awful in rain or for cycling. Not cheap & previously MNers called them Fugly.

My last effort to wear Birkenstocks was decades ago: stiff & uncomfy.

I'm sorry but those are absolutely awful😂😂

GrimDamnFanjo · 01/06/2024 16:59

Tirra from Teva for walking.
I've had some nice ones from Pavers, but they kinda suit my style!

Well yes those Hotter ones don't look anything like Tevas.
But my point is that chunkier hiking sandals are in fashion so if looking for something comfortable it makes sense to take advantage of that.
Personally I don't love buying the exact same brand and model that 'everyone' is wearing anyway.

BobnLen · 01/06/2024 18:07

Where are you intending to walk in them, if it's miles and along some rough ground, you want different sandals to if it's down the local high street and a walk to work.

Immeltinnnnngggg · 01/06/2024 19:41

Next Kids have wide leather sandals that go up to a size 7.

PurpleWhirple · 01/06/2024 19:43

And I'm fed up of people recommending brands 'good for wide feet' when they're not. They might be on the slightly generous side of average but they're not wide.

Well quite. See Saltwater recommended here a few times. Not at all for wide feet!

Snowtimex7 · 01/06/2024 20:11

Fat face Birkenstock dupes. I just got them and I never want to take them off. So good

Iggleoggledaffy · 01/06/2024 20:15

Not moshulu for wide feet! I like them (if that makes me an old lady so be it) but apart from the slippers I can’t get my feet into them.

nowtygaffer · 01/06/2024 20:42

I've recently bought a pair of Ara sandals. They are a German brand but you can buy online here. I have to buy sandals with velcro as my feet are v wide. Some of the styles are a bit naff but worth a look through I think.

Nonbio46 · 01/06/2024 20:48

I absolutely love the soft sole Saltwater sandals. They could be worth a try.

Exactly! The fugliest old lady shoes 😂

You won't rip me apart from my Birkis big buckle arizonas OP. Love em!

Saltwater sandals

Too flat.

Anjo2011 · 01/06/2024 21:57

Van Dal do a wide fit and an extra wide.

tillyandmilly · 01/06/2024 21:59

Wolky! I am a size 9 E got 8 pairs of them ! Expensive but really supportive and comfortable

ididntthough · 01/06/2024 22:05

Agree with some pp. loads of these suggestions are not for wide feet at all and many are super frumpy compared to Birkenstock! The so called regular fit are a blessing for those of us lucky enough to be wide of foot! They are also in so many styles now and so supportive especial in Arizona or multi strap... I wear big buckle too. Love them.

Dune have the odd wide fit option that are quite forgiving if you want something daintier but for actual walking Birks are far more supportive.

Agree with Gudrun Sjoden recommendation.
I've got very wide feet and their shoes are always good for me.
