hi, whats the quality like with this brand please, I just received a white cotton waistcoat / top from John lewis website, I love it but one of the buttons keep popping open, the button hole looks too big, yes I could sow it up , but at £49 I didn't expect to have too, just looked on the website and there are a few things I like,

I don’t think the quality reflects the price.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 30/05/2024 16:26

I agree. I do love their dresses and wide leg trousers but they’re new look quality at twice the price - twisted waist bands, too large button holes, loose threads.

CitrineRaindropPhoenix · 30/05/2024 17:28

I was going to ask the same. I've just bought a BNWT nobody's child dress from vinted and after one wear it has a hole in a seam. I'd hoped it had improved as the prices had shot up but it doesn't sound like it. 🥲

shrodingersvaccine · 30/05/2024 17:31

They are crap quality, I only buy on Vinted or the like as just can't justify the price new. Alas, the Alexa is THE DRESS for me, the perfect shape, so I am resigned to a saved search on Vinted/Ebay and grabbing them for £20 or thereabouts.

CountFucula · 30/05/2024 17:37

Bad quality - seams fell apart on a dress within a year and with about 3 wears.
I —stupidly— recently bought a denim shirt and the sticking is already loose on the collar :(

Holluschickie · 30/05/2024 18:04

My dress developed a hole after 3 wears
despite washing on delicate.

Hedgeoffressian · 30/05/2024 18:08

Agree with the others. I have a beautiful dress from this brand but the quality is lacking and I can see it easily getting holes after a certain number of wears. Definitely not worth the price.

gingersnappz · 30/05/2024 18:09

Agree with all of the above. Lovely dresses but the quality is rubbish.

Vinted is the best place for it - but a lot of them seem to be silly expensive now. There are bargains to be found on there though - I won't pay more than £10 for one.

lindyloo57 · 30/05/2024 19:30

Looks like I'm going to return it .

I think they shrink in the wash too. Happened to mine and several friends dresses.

Yep, I had a maxi dress from here a couple or years ago that I absolutely loved, but it shrank a full size in the wash so ended up going to the charity shop. I was gutted, it was so pretty. It was 100% viscose I think, in case that's helpful for anyone.

Foxblue · 30/05/2024 23:39

Don't know how on earth they justify their ridiculous prices - it's New Look quality, but its like New look get all the cheap looking colours and prints and Nobodys Child get the better looking stuff and that justifies it...

ZazieBeth · 30/05/2024 23:59

Crap quality for the price. Shame because the designs are nice.

WannabeHealthier · 31/05/2024 01:28

Terrible quality I’m afraid - worse than new look etc

Dresses all shrink so not worth the price

Whereas I’m currently wearing a peacocks cardigan 10 years. Can’t imagine wearing NC a year on!

WannabeHealthier · 31/05/2024 01:31

I can’t see this brand surviving very long- people talk and post on SM. I don’t understand why they don’t fix the obvious quality issues

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 31/05/2024 01:54

I have several Nobody's Child dresses & I've had no problem with mine. They they wash & wear very well.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 31/05/2024 04:02

Maybe I've just been lucky!

Macey78 · 31/05/2024 04:17

I've got 2 of their dresses had them a couple of years, have worn well and still going strong.

BusterGonad · 31/05/2024 04:25

I always buy in the sale, I love them. They are viscose which is prone to shrinking if not washed on a cool wash. If you're between sizes probably best to get the bigger one. The style and print justifies the price imo as they are beautiful looking dresses.

BusterGonad · 31/05/2024 04:27

To add one of mine shrank as I accidentally put it in the tumble drier. I've had a fabric covered button lose it's fabric but this was after many wears.

TheOGCCL · 31/05/2024 08:22

I have a top that seems pretty good quality and has washed fine. I bought it in the sale in January, the discounts were good but sounds like everything was overpriced to start with. Their shop on Carnaby Street is very underwhelming.

TurquoiseDress · 31/05/2024 13:00

This is very interesting to hear all the feedback

I spotted a white cotton dress by this brand in M&S the other day, considered an impulse purchase but it seemed pretty pricy for a summer dresss

Would prefer waiting for the sales but usually have nothing left in my size

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 31/05/2024 13:10

I looked at their concession, in the John Lewis store recently, as I was looking for a summer dress. Very poorly made and the materials were cheap. You could see the stitching on the seams, as they were gaping. Very unimpressed.

paristotokyo · 31/05/2024 13:12

I have a really nice cotton dress from there but it was bought in the sale as I wouldn't pay full price. Only washed the once so far so interested to see how it holds up. I love the shape and styles of the dresses though.
