Anyone else just loving Uniqlo at the mo!?

Ever since I jumped on the shoulder bag bandwagon I've fallen in love with Uniqlo... In fact I'm so annoyed they don't have a store close to our home.

I ordered these recently and definitely recommend if anyone's looking for similar pieces

Slim ankle length jeans (I love them with my Birks but also suit my NB trainers, too) https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/slim-fit-straight-leg-ankle-length-jeans-465927.html

Got this for my holiday next month - https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/light-cotton-sleeveless-dress-464777.html

Got this to just chuck on on sunny days and also for my hol again... https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/ultra-stretch-airism-sleeveless-mini-dress-466466.html

And the final piece of my haul were these shorts! https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/parachute-shorts-466384.html

Are there any other Uniqlo fans on here that can share their beloved finds? My next step is to purchase some linen pieces but unsure where to start at Uniqlo for the nicest ones

V nice. But I really wish they did deep jewel colours. Tired of black/navy and don't want to wear beige. A nice plum or teal or burnt orange?

Totally agree on colours! The main thing putting me off their tops and t shirts tbh

I agree. Jewel colours suit me. Sludgy colours don't.

Wordless · 30/05/2024 09:47

I’ve spent years complaining about the sludgy colours of Margaret Howell clothes - and have only just realised that Uniqlo actually has a very similar colour palette! Is this why MH is apparently so popular in Japan?

I like uniqlo and epuld buy more but find their website awful to navigate. It's really glitchy, slow and painful to use. Is it just me?

Not as bad as the Zara website, but then what is? 😄(unless it's had a radical rebuild since I was last on there, anyway...)

RampantIvy · 30/05/2024 09:59

Your descriptions of their colours are very apt @PoppySeedBagelRedux Grin

Terrible customer service IME

Floisme · 30/05/2024 10:25

Hmm I actually like a bit of sludginess but I don't get on with Uniqlo colours at all.

I’m proud that my son has just been sent to sort out the Boots website and why it is so shit

Can it be so? Boots are finally listening to customer feedback on their awful website. Praise be!

Cantonet · 30/05/2024 10:34

I really want to but the clothes on the website look dreadful. They lack visual appeal. I'm also very far from the nearest Uniqlo & hence don't have any option for trying them on. Dd1 buys quite a lot from Uniqlo & they look great - jeans, trousers & the bra cropped tops. But the stores are only in major cities, none in Cardiff where she's currently located. So it means a trip to Manchester, London or Birmingham.

amusedbush · 30/05/2024 10:37

I got back from Japan a few days ago and DH and I bought spent a small fortune in Uniqlo. I was aware of the brand but there were no stores near me (well, not until the Edinburgh one opened recently) so my only experience was a quick look around when I passed one in Paris a few years ago.

I found a tonne of stuff that I liked and, even better, the exchange rate (and tax-free shopping for tourists) means the clothes are literally half the price they are here. Items that are £19.90 on the UK website are 1,990Y in Japan, which is about a tenner.

I look good in khaki/rust/greige so the limited colours weren't an issue for me Grin

Ha - I was thinking about doing a thread about those jeans! I love them.
I’d been buying the M&S Sienna straight jeans for a while, but they changed… I used to buy the ‘short’ version but they made them longer and introduced an ‘extra short’, but this is rarely in stock in the sizes/colours I want.

These Uniqlo jeans are spot on: the ankle length is a perfect full length on me at 5ft2, and one turn up makes a perfect ankle length for me. And the denim feels nicer than the M&S jeans.

This is interesting, I'm also 5'2 and never even consider buying jeans that don't come in a short length, I've been buying the Sienna jeans for a while but changed to Next and Boden as I found the fit wasn't great.

I love Uniqlo and always pop in when I'm shopping at Westfield but usually for t-shirts, knitwear, vests and underwear.

I'm going to take a look next time I'm in store, as I find the waist sizes confusing when buying online.

Thanks for this info!

They lack visual appeal.

That’s an interesting observation, @Cantonet. I think of my way of dressing as quite extravagant and flouncy, but (as a style quiz (Hmm) in, I think, The Times yesterday confirmed) it’s made up of mostly very simple pieces and I see Uniqlo as very much one end of a continuum (the budget option for people who like MH, Bite Studios, Co Collection and The Row but don’t have that sort of money). To me it just seems contemporary - and my idea of lacking visual appeal is a printed, waisted frock.

Or do you mean the presentation on the website?

RampantIvy · 30/05/2024 11:46

That's how I would interpret it. I don't think they show the clothes off as well as they could. It would be more visually appealing if they didn't use the same model type all the time (very slim, very young).

Yup
he has listened to his mother and wife

BeBopBeBop · 31/05/2024 04:59

Like M&S I think they're one of those brands that people either love and buy up the whole shop, or look at and find absolutely nothing they want

These are my current favourites jean https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/wide-straight-leg-jeans-464744.html?dwvar_464744_color=COL05&cgid=IDw-jeans Very comfy, kind to my apple shape tum, and the colour is a really nice grey.

I also have https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/denim-long-skirt-465919.html?dwvar_465919_color=COL65&dwvar_465919_size=INS024 which I love.

RampantIvy · 31/05/2024 07:20

Or, in my case, occasionally find the odd gem.

WannabeHealthier · 31/05/2024 07:38

I keep trying to buy clothes from there online, but every time I look on their website I think how unflattering and cheap the clothes look (the non-neutral colours don’t help - they are an odd pallette). I’m including the social media feature on their website where you can see them on normal people- they don’t look great. I must be missing something, but am not willing to chance an order.

But I will reserve judgement until a shop opens in my city and I can try the clothes on. I actually really like the skirt and SM images that the pp above shared.

I feel similar about Zara and Mango - I don’t find the clothes very flattering on my tall, curvy figure and don’t think they look very fashionable - there are better places.

Trixiefirecracker · 31/05/2024 08:30

I just find everything on their website super boring and uninspiring. I have a bag from them and that’s about it.
