Anyone else just loving Uniqlo at the mo!?

sborber · 28/05/2024 15:42

Ever since I jumped on the shoulder bag bandwagon I've fallen in love with Uniqlo... In fact I'm so annoyed they don't have a store close to our home.

I ordered these recently and definitely recommend if anyone's looking for similar pieces

Slim ankle length jeans (I love them with my Birks but also suit my NB trainers, too) https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/slim-fit-straight-leg-ankle-length-jeans-465927.html

Got this for my holiday next month - https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/light-cotton-sleeveless-dress-464777.html

Got this to just chuck on on sunny days and also for my hol again... https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/ultra-stretch-airism-sleeveless-mini-dress-466466.html

And the final piece of my haul were these shorts! https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/parachute-shorts-466384.html

Are there any other Uniqlo fans on here that can share their beloved finds? My next step is to purchase some linen pieces but unsure where to start at Uniqlo for the nicest ones

How do you find the sizing? I keep browsing the website but cant bring myself to order. 8 month PP, 5'2 but not skinny with huge boobs- = dont really think I'm the ideal candidate for their styles :D

BigBarm · 28/05/2024 16:32

Ha - I was thinking about doing a thread about those jeans! I love them.
I’d been buying the M&S Sienna straight jeans for a while, but they changed… I used to buy the ‘short’ version but they made them longer and introduced an ‘extra short’, but this is rarely in stock in the sizes/colours I want.

These Uniqlo jeans are spot on: the ankle length is a perfect full length on me at 5ft2, and one turn up makes a perfect ankle length for me. And the denim feels nicer than the M&S jeans.

I found the jeans to be quite generous sizing. I’m normally a size 8-10 and the 26 are a good fit on me. If I didn’t have a post menopausal waist I’d be in the 25, maybe even 24… and I’ve never been that size in my life!

Octavia64 · 28/05/2024 16:38

I always go to their shop on the rare occasions I am in London. I love their summer dresses and bought two yesterday.

BigBarm · 28/05/2024 16:40

PS I didn’t add those links for M and S in my previous post… is that a new thing? For which companies? Is it a sponsorship thing?

sorry for hijacking thread, never noticed it before!

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 28/05/2024 16:43

I bought a black summer dress recently and now want it in all the colours. It fits so well and dries quickly when washed.

CharlotteRumpling · 28/05/2024 16:48

I have a lot of Uniqlo previous seasons. Their 3 D knit tops, their cotton tshirt dresses, blocktech raincoats and slouchy trousers. I wish they sorted out their sizes and did brighter colours. Sizing is very hit and miss.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 28/05/2024 17:04

I have a few items and more recent purchases are the broderie anglais blouses and a couple of their knitted dresses. All wash, wear well and are flattering to my lumps and bumps! I always read the reviews and go by the actual sizing (they have the actual measurements up for the garments, so I always use those and not the size noted) and generally don't go far wrong. I also have a few of their heavy cotton breton t-shirts and they are seemingly indestructable, on year 5 and counting!

There was a thread protesting about this a while ago, @BigBarm. Despite acknowledging posters’ annoyance at the practice it seems MNHQ aren’t ready to end it.

On the rare occasions I have to refer to that store or the other one (J. Something and Partners) I consciously aim to avoid being forced into promoting them.

@sborber Whenever I need casual, home clothes I eagerly browse the utterly exemplary Community Clothing site - and then shamefacedly order from Uniqlo for, now, about a third of the price.

HippyKayYay · 28/05/2024 18:43

I'm a Uniqlo devotee and so many of my wardrobe staples come from there. Their heattech thermal jeans saw me through 3 winters in an uninsulated house. Their stuff can be quite hit-and-miss though and their in-store returns policy is really shit.

I haven't bought anything this season yet, but will get one of the woven across-body bags for an upcoming holiday. I like the look of those jeans too

Breeches1 · 28/05/2024 18:46

Long time fan here

The delivery charge continues to irk me.

IsThePopeCatholic · 28/05/2024 19:07

I like their clothes, but I find their colours boring and strange. I occasionally buy the odd black item.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 28/05/2024 19:14

I find I have to order/ try a lot until I find something that's the right fit and colour, but the things I have kept I wear all the time and are brilliant quality for the price.

My favourite is a green flannel shirt which goes with everything and is still in top condition. I've got two of the cord shoulder bags which I love, and have just bought a navy pleated midi dress with tie waist - really flattering and can style in lots of different ways.

I have a lovely merino polo neck for winter, and one of the thermal gilets which go under my coats. My son has a waffle knit turtle neck that's also going strong and looks gorgeous on him.

faustina · 28/05/2024 19:52

Uniqlo are great but the sizing, as someone else has said, is really hit and miss, and it puts me off having to pay £2.95 or whatever it is to return. This season I've bought a linen tshirt in a great shade of blue from their Comptoir des Cottoniers collab, and then the thing I've worn most lately, an oversized cropped hooded jacket by Ines de la Fressange. Wish I lived nearer to an actual shop though. Their cashmere jumpers are good too and they last well, but very small sizing

YouJustDoYou · 28/05/2024 19:54

I love it, I go to the Japan stores whnever I visit Japan, they have the best t shirts.

CharlotteRumpling · 28/05/2024 19:58

Aargh I am on a no buy this year, but I am also 15 minutes from their flagship Oxford Street store, and you all are making me want to visit to see the summer stuff!

Frenchyq25 · 28/05/2024 20:04

I bought this yesterday:
www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/linen-blend-square-neck-short-sleeved-dress-464771.html?dwvar_464771_size=SMA001

I love it 😊

Frenchyq25 · 28/05/2024 20:04

V nice. But I really wish they did deep jewel colours. Tired of black/navy and don't want to wear beige. A nice plum or teal or burnt orange?

viccat · 28/05/2024 22:56

I agree about the colours! They do lots of muted shades like lilac and beige and not many deep, dark shades.

I love their Airism range in the summer and Heattech in the winter. I also bought a couple of linen shirts recently when they were on offer and they seem good so far.

Houseplantmad · 28/05/2024 23:05

Agree the colours are a bit limited and a bit murky at times.
I only seem to shop at Uniqlo and M and S these days.

honeyfox · 28/05/2024 23:09

Not everything is perfect and some of their medium sizes are massive but I have a lot I love from there. Slippers, denim jeggings and 3D knits are a big hit with me. Got a raincoat the last time too. Unfortunately no shops in Ireland so I visit when away and also order online.

Miriad · 28/05/2024 23:16

I don’t buy from Uniqlo any more because they don’t refund your money when you send stuff back. Have a look at their Trust Pilot page. Loads of people have sent stuff back and Uniqlo wont refund because they claim they didn’t receive it. I love their clothes but can’t afford to lose money on stuff I’ve returned.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 28/05/2024 23:25

I recently purchased the CdC linen suit in black, a cream pleated top and cream dress.

i also have a pair of their jeans and a couple of cashmere sweaters.

LondonLass61 · 28/05/2024 23:42

I love Uniqlo but I find that their stuff doesn't last too long.

Crispynoodle · 28/05/2024 23:44

I love their t-shirts and I bought two different colours in their dungarees/jumpsuit thingies. I also love putting a tangle of clothes in their self service bins and the till works out the price without me having to scan!
