Anyone else just loving Uniqlo at the mo!?

Ever since I jumped on the shoulder bag bandwagon I've fallen in love with Uniqlo... In fact I'm so annoyed they don't have a store close to our home.

I ordered these recently and definitely recommend if anyone's looking for similar pieces

Slim ankle length jeans (I love them with my Birks but also suit my NB trainers, too) https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/slim-fit-straight-leg-ankle-length-jeans-465927.html

Got this for my holiday next month - https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/light-cotton-sleeveless-dress-464777.html

Got this to just chuck on on sunny days and also for my hol again... https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/ultra-stretch-airism-sleeveless-mini-dress-466466.html

And the final piece of my haul were these shorts! https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/parachute-shorts-466384.html

Are there any other Uniqlo fans on here that can share their beloved finds? My next step is to purchase some linen pieces but unsure where to start at Uniqlo for the nicest ones

No! I am really annoyed that I keep being shown adverts for their Marimekko collab when everything I want is sold out!

V nice. But I really wish they did deep jewel colours. Tired of black/navy and don't want to wear beige. A nice plum or teal or burnt orange?

I bought the green and it’s nice and vibrant, I get so many compliments. You’re right though, I’d love a burnt orange or a purple.

aramox1 · 29/05/2024 06:55

I often send back, no problems. And for sizing they give actual measurements which is so useful. I do worry it's too cheap (unlike exemplary Community Clothing!)

TeachesOfPeaches · 29/05/2024 06:55

I like the style but not the polyester and other artificial materials

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/05/2024 07:51

I’m staying in Edinburgh and went to their new store here yesterday. I bought some blue parachute trousers, a cream ribbed vest with built in bra, a green cropped t shirt and a rust cardigan. It’s all good quality, the T-shirts are really thick. The shop has a ‘capsule wardrobe’ feel about it, everything is the same colours and all goes together. I have several pairs of shorts from there bought on vinted, because they suit my body shape with a narrow waist but width on the thighs. The sizing is generally very generous, I bought small trousers and I’m a 10-12

Igneococcus · 29/05/2024 07:56

dd works close to the new store in Edinburgh and she was amused to see a queue forming outside it when she walked to her 7.30 am shift on the first Saturday they were open.
I'm another one who wishes they'd offer some better colour options.

WHITEF0X · 29/05/2024 08:04

What's the returns policy? Is it free?

Passthepickle · 29/05/2024 08:06

Another store that could do better though. I liked them when I found them but read this and sent me shop back. It that I think me not shopping with them makes a difference but spending me money with ethical providers hopefully does. I do t miss the high street but I do have fewer clothes.

WhereAreWeNow · 29/05/2024 08:23

I love Uniqlo but I do worry about how ethical they are as others have mentioned.

My best buys are:
Heattech thermals - I have way too many and they never seem to wear out.
Some lovely cotton t-shirts for DD and DH.
I like the wide leg pleat trousers but everything is a bit too short for me in Uniqlo. I wish they did a proper longer length (they do a long length online but it's not very long).
Cotton knickers.
A Princess Tam Tam collaboration swimming costume I got years ago. I wish they'd do that line again.

WhereAreWeNow · 29/05/2024 08:24

Oh and my Heattech jeggings which I end up wearing pretty much everyday in the winter. I've had them for years and they're so soft, comfy and warm.

WhereAreWeNow · 29/05/2024 08:25

Returns policy is a bit shit but as long as you're prepared to pay a few quid to return online orders it seems to work OK. You should be able to return in store. Not sure why they make it so hard.

Wordless · 29/05/2024 08:39

Yes - interesting article but didn’t tell me anything I don’t already know.

I am concerned about the pay and welfare of workers and also avoid buying clothes made in particular countries because of my understanding of their political stance or actions. I’m conscious of the environmental impact of producing various fabrics. I’ve never bought knitwear from Uniqlo. Not sure I’ve ever encountered leather or silk in their stock.

And thankfully I’ve never bought anything remotely expensive there that needed returning.

But cord trousers bought for £12 in the sales have lasted two years so far and been brilliant for house wear.

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 29/05/2024 09:01

I have one of their 3d knit jumpers which i love but it quickly got a little hole in it. I buy lots of my plain tshirts from them, they are good quality. I did buy a bra after hearing good things but its the mist awkward thing to try and get on (no hooks) so i generally dont bother with it.

OrganicAlchemy · 28/05/2024 15:51

How do you find the sizing? I keep browsing the website but cant bring myself to order. 8 month PP, 5'2 but not skinny with huge boobs- = dont really think I'm the ideal candidate for their styles :D

I'm a size 16 with a bit of a tum from DC and they do fit quite nicely, I don't feel as uncomfortable as my other jeans from Next... Their shirts are deffo worth a look at for big boobs, you could chuck on a spaghetti strap vest underneath and wear slightly open at the top

I like their clothes and make a special trip to Manchester every so often to have a good browse and try on a million things. I got a couple of nice tops a few weeks ago.

I also found a dress and some trousers that I liked but didn't really need them so didn't buy.

Their policy of a dozen stores in London and virtually none elsewhere in the country really annoys me. Surely somewhere like Leeds could support a profitable store?

10000% agreed we need one in or near Leeds! Good to know there's one in Manc, though, heading there next week 😄

Agreed re capsule wardrobe vibe, it's my new favourite go-to for everyday basics and has knocked H&M off the top of my list

No! I am really annoyed that I keep being shown adverts for their Marimekko collab when everything I want is sold out!

😂I also noticed this - although, I don't think I'm brave enough to don the patterns of their pieces

I'll stick to my blacks and neutrals!

OP posts:
SpringShower · 29/05/2024 09:09

Not for me at all. I don’t like the colour ranges and the clothes don’t fit me well - I’m a tall hourglass and their stuff just isn’t cut for my body.

I like those jeans, though. But I doubt they’ll fit me 😞

Wordless · 29/05/2024 09:11

The problem with all the brightly patterned and coloured collab pieces is that you’re highly likely to bump into someone else wearing exactly the same. So I’d avoid them, no matter how appealing.

WhereAreWeNow · 29/05/2024 09:28

Tall hourglass here too @SpringShower and I agree some of the more fitted things like trousers don't work well. Stretchy things like tops, leggings and thermals are great though.

Bikesandbees · 29/05/2024 10:12

Well done for your sneaky advertising post Uniqlo. Thanks for helping drive the ecological nightmare that is fast fashion.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/05/2024 10:14

I love my cord bag but their clothes don’t interest me. And this thread sounds very much like an advert to me.
