Anyone else just loving Uniqlo at the mo!?

sborber · 28/05/2024 15:42

Ever since I jumped on the shoulder bag bandwagon I've fallen in love with Uniqlo... In fact I'm so annoyed they don't have a store close to our home.

I ordered these recently and definitely recommend if anyone's looking for similar pieces

Slim ankle length jeans (I love them with my Birks but also suit my NB trainers, too) https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/slim-fit-straight-leg-ankle-length-jeans-465927.html

Got this for my holiday next month - https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/light-cotton-sleeveless-dress-464777.html

Got this to just chuck on on sunny days and also for my hol again... https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/ultra-stretch-airism-sleeveless-mini-dress-466466.html

And the final piece of my haul were these shorts! https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/parachute-shorts-466384.html

Are there any other Uniqlo fans on here that can share their beloved finds? My next step is to purchase some linen pieces but unsure where to start at Uniqlo for the nicest ones

They always say that about the M and S threads too!

I'm in Japan at the moment and d have been to the giant Uniqlo in Tokyo.
I found a skirt with an elastic waist and top in size small and fitted me well. I'm Around a 12 in uk

I think the Japanese wear clothes very loose and baggy

🤷🏽‍♀️ Do they really need stealth advertising here? It’s a massively popular retailer that everyone knows about already. (Can those bag threads all have been advertising? I don’t know - they certainly didn’t persuade me to buy one. Not my thing so wasn’t interested.)

And threads like this always point out the ethical and environmental issues around their products, as well as difficulties with ordering, returns and refunds. So I’m not sure the store would gain much benefit from them?

I bought a black summer dress recently and now want it in all the colours. It fits so well and dries quickly when washed.

Oh please share @OneRingToRuleThemAll if you can find the link! I'm in need of a couple more dresses for my hols

What's the returns policy? Is it free?

No, as posters upthread said, it costs £2.95 to return an online order. They no longer allow you to return online orders at the store.

I'm in two minds about this. I don't like paying the fee but if it stops people from ordering mountains of clothes then I think it's the right call.

The problem with all the brightly patterned and coloured collab pieces is that you’re highly likely to bump into someone else wearing exactly the same. So I’d avoid them, no matter how appealing.

And then congratulate each other on your excellent taste? I don’t see the problem.

Also, it’s just not as likely as you’d think. I have a really stunning, very distinctive summer dress that I got in Sainsbury’s a couple of years ago. It always gets comments, people are always surprised where it came from, and I’ve never seen anyone else wearing it.

The accusations of advertising on S&B threads where people are enthusing about an outlet or its stock are a bit tedious imo. Not trying to be the thread police, but I can't see what it adds. Surely we're all capable of telling the difference between posters enthusing about things they like because others might like them too, and stealth advertising/paid promotions? Of course it's a thin line, but I'm sure most of us can make that distinction for themselves.

But to get back on topic - I love the Uniqlo bags (I have three to match different outfits) and have a black jumper from the Ines de la Fressange collab that I love. I've seen quite a few other pieces that I like, but as I'm plus size it's possible not everything I like would like me back (or even fit). 😄

I am a fan and definitely not employed by Uniqlo or anyone connected and have got a few items from Uniqlo, not just for me but for DH too and he really likes their t-shirts. I first tripped over the company via a post on Mumsnet, so there is a benefit to these review type threads and they have helped me find new clothing companies and conversely ones to avoid!! Re. the sizing, I am an 18-20 and have found a number of items that fit me and fit well. Please do check the actual size charts attached to the blurb about the clothin, as many of the items are verging/ are what many call plus size in reality. I've also bought a couple of their men's shirts in the sales, so don't forget the men's items and that they go up to larger sizes, and are often unisex in nature. I have items in L, XL and XXL and all purchased using the actual measurements provided, which have always been accurate.

fatphalange · 29/05/2024 15:47

I've been put off ordering since did a return and just didn't hear back about it. I chased it up with them via their chatbot and gave all the information including proof of postage but they said they couldn't do anything about it since it's lost :/ never known such bad customer service from anywhere else.
They can fuck off 😂 I've deleted the app.

Love Uniqlo. Good prices and good quality stuff. Their tshirts are the best.

Shellingbynight · 29/05/2024 16:21

I am a Uniqlo fan too. I first found them because of the bag (I now have three of those) and tried the t-shirts. I always used to buy Gap t-shirts but the quality and fit became really iffy, so now almost all my t-shirts are Uniqlo. I've been wondering about the parachute trousers, I might buy those next.

I've never had to return anything so I don't know how well that works. But the first order they ever sent to me went missing (Evri), I contacted Uniqlo by email and they sent out another one straight away, they were very fast and efficient.

Justsewsew · 29/05/2024 17:57

I like uniqlo and epuld buy more but find their website awful to navigate. It's really glitchy, slow and painful to use. Is it just me?

YouSayChorizoIsayChorizo · 29/05/2024 18:09

I'm a long-time fan of Uniqlo, have bought their stuff since the 90s, but not so much in the last few years. Agree with@IsThePopeCatholic that the colours are 'boring and weird' - perhaps more flattering on a warmer skintone than mine, anyway.
I love the look of those ankle-length jeans, but with reviewers saying they're perfect on them at 5'2" - I'm 5'10" - I might have to swerve.

I've just bought a pair of those jeans on Vinted for £4! Well chuffed

I like their clothes, but I find their colours boring and strange. I occasionally buy the odd black item.

I agree about the sludgy colours. They are horrible and don't suit me at all. That's why I don't have many pieces from them. The few pieces I have are excellent though, and I am planning a trip to Manchester soon so that I can try before I buy. I wish they had more stores.

I have this dress in navy, a black merino jumper and a really good quality thick cotton T-shirt in white.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 29/05/2024 21:14

Yet sometimes their colours are great - I got a lovely fine merino ribbed cardigan in the sale (£15!) last summer in a really nice unusual greeny turquoise. Amazing quality and value full price let alone reduced.

The other colours it came in were goose poo green and diarrhoea brown...

I still have and love a mid blue fine cashmere cardigan from their first Jil Sander collaboration. And the cords I got from the first Claire Waight Keller (sp?) collection are very good fit, and better quality than some Sunspel ones I bought that cost 4 times as much.

The quality in general isn't as good as it was and they use more man made fabrics like polyester now but IME if you have a rummage you can still find the odd nice thing. I do think it's worth popping into a shop if you can, rather than buy online.

bilgewater · 29/05/2024 21:20

Nope. Awful customer service both in the shops and online. Not for me.

Nope, slow and glitchy for me as well, shite like the Boots and Superdrug websites & Apps!

Breeches1 · 29/05/2024 22:41

I’m proud that my son has just been sent to sort out the Boots website and why it is so shit

Marlaysydney12 · 30/05/2024 02:10

I love uniclo but in they don't have any stores in Irelans and returns are expensive/unpredictable.
The sizing is mad too, very variable. I like thwre smart trousers but find the fit very pear shaped (small waist, large hips) this may suit aome people!

Justsewsew · 30/05/2024 03:38

@OrganicAlchemy yes Boots site too! So annoying. @Breeches1 good lad - can you ask him to sort uniqlo while he's at it please?

Floisme · 30/05/2024 07:29

I think they're possibly the best store for that price point on the high street, but their quality and sizing are so hit and miss that I tend not to bother with them unless I can get to a real store.

I'll make an exception for their collabs though - some of them have been great.

Funny you should mention Boots, for a couple of years it was terrible and I stopped buying, but I tried ordering something last week and it worked perfectly. I find the Uniqlo website absolutely fine (I don't use the app).
