No idea where to start. I'm short and curvy and prob will wear with jeans and dresses.

Need something that doesn't come up too high on the heel looks good and makes me look like I am in fashion!

Any ideas?

Converse low tops and high tops all the way 😀 Classic trainers that go with everything and never date

Branleuse · 25/05/2024 22:21

I think you need to try on really. Skechers are super comfy but not fashionable.
nike air force 1 are classic and really comfortable

I would say Skechers are no no in terms of being trendy or in fashion!

This

There is nothing remotely stylish or trendy about Skechers. They are comfortable, that is all.

bellamountain · 25/05/2024 22:22

Asics!! The Gel 1130 are seriously the most comfiest trainers ever and are actually way cooler than their New Balance rivals. Those in the know, will deffo go for Asics!!

I think the Skechers marketing team must be posting on these threads, because I never see anyone under 70 wearing them in public irl.

You can't be looking very hard. A lot of health care workers wear them, and I believe they are mostly under 70.

A few posters on this thread have said that their young adult DC wear them as well.

Agree - I was in hospital the other day and lots of young staff there were wearing then.
I'm also mid 30s and wear them for comfort when I know I'll be doing a lot of walking. I think some people don't realise that not all skechers have the big s on them anymore.

Inyourwildestdreams · 25/05/2024 22:39

From someone who sells footwear and specialises in “problem feet”… can you all please stop wearing Skechers 🙃😂 Not only are they pretty low down on the list of what I would consider “fashionable”, but actually - they’re not very good for your feet 🙈😂 The reason your feet hurt when you move into another shoe after wearing a pair of Skechers all the time is because your feet have had little to no support whatsoever in the Skechers and your new shoes are trying to correct your feet!

RampantIvy · 25/05/2024 22:41

Not even the arch fit @Inyourwildestdreams? I have orthotics in my Trail shoes as I have flat feet and arthritis. I tried on so many pairs of propet walking shoes and they all hurt my feet.

Yes presumably they wear them at work because they're on their feet all day and they need a trainer that doesn't really look like a trainer. That's apparently not what OP needs or wants. And I don't suppose the HCPs wear them when they want to look 'in fashion' either.

I still think they're massively overhyped from a comfort perspective unless you have very wide feet.

RampantIvy · 25/05/2024 22:52

My feet are standard width but I have arthritis, so I do find them very comfortable.

I'm not defending them from a fashion point of view, but I think your assertion that anyone under 70 doesn't wear them is untrue and ageist.

SunshinePlease24 · 25/05/2024 22:52

Veja Campo if you need a wide fit.
Very comfy.

Point taken and I didn't mean it to come across like that. I just don't see anyone of a younger generation wearing them out and about where I am.

TizerorFizz · 25/05/2024 23:22

M&S sell Sketchers. Trendy they are not. Health workers aren't trendy at work one assumes! People who work in fashion are most likely to be fashionable as it's their job.

Also look at Air and Grace and ASICS Gel NYC. Nike V2K and Jigsaw Portland. Red Magazine gave some great ideas recently.

RoobarbAndMustard · 25/05/2024 23:41

Podiatrist don't recommend Skechers, especially if you have plantar fasciitis.

Skechers are 'so soft, your foot has to do more work'. This can leave feet feeling comfortable during the day, but actually leave them more tired compared to wearing more supportive shoes.

hairyspiderleg · 26/05/2024 01:57

I bought a pair of converse go move, the very platformed ones. Super comfy, went great with everything, work clothes, going out casual. But the back heel wore away quiet quickly, which can be normal for converse but then this really uncomfortable sharps bits of plastic started poking through..so I sent them back to converse and they said oh factory fault and gave me my money back. So I bought a 2nd pair as they were really comfy, and these have the same problem but happened even quicker! So I give up. And sorry, but am wearing a pair of sketchers for work..

@RampantIvy Yeah even the arch fit 😊 They’re far too soft. There’s very little support and it actually does your foot more harm than good. I think you’d struggle to find a podiatrist that would suggest them as a “good shoe”. Especially the soft slip on styles!
I fit shoes for customers all day who wear orthotics of various widths and depths etc and I promise you, there are so many better shoes out there 😊

Check out Skechers, they're fab. Like walking on cushions.

Sketchers are horrific! They're the only footwear to rip my feet to shreds. Literally! From their 'Go Walk' to their boots. I've tried them all and they are all now blood stained and in the back of the cupboard.

I must throw them away.

How is the sizing on these? I've tried some very similar, but I'm a 7.5 and found the 8 far too small.

They’re spot on for me - I’m only a size 4 and the 4 fits perfectly; I wear thin trainer socks or those hidden socks with them.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 26/05/2024 07:07

As much as it’s about name as important is fit especially if you plan on walking any distance. Adidas and Nike fit very differently.
Leather is nicer and easier to keep clean than canvas, sometimes if researching online white it’s hard to tell.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 26/05/2024 07:17

@OldTinHat i can’t wear sketchers brand either. Their pattern/mold/fit comes up short on my heel and simply rubs the skin off the back.

MurielThrockmorton · 26/05/2024 07:56

DD is a student nurse, and these Clarks shoes were the height of fashion last year (and possibly still!) - I was slightly incredulous when she asked me for them!

On the trainers, I saw a young woman wearing these in a café the other day and I have my eye on them as Nike shoes seem to suit my feet, though I have also considered Adidas Handball Spezial.

I've noticed that I'm seeing.more and more Slazenger around since I bought mine. Very comfortable

Isabelle70 · 26/05/2024 08:41

I have the New Balance 574 but really struggled with the sizing as ordering a size 4 ending up being a 36.5 or a 37.5. I finally managed to find a child sized 37 and it fits perfectly. Cheaper as well!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 26/05/2024 09:36

Another vote for Hoffs! I like my New Balance but Hoffs beat them hands down for comfort. I do a lot of walking and Hoffs never let me down.

I recently got some 574s too. I’m a 5 (not a big five if anything a little smaller but a 4 is too small for me in most shoes, sometimes I can wear a 4.5) and they would be really comfy except…. My toe is touching the front. The internet says comes up to true to size, order normal size, but I think maybe they run small?

if they were slightly longer they’d be perfect, like walking on air. I’ve got black suede and I really like the look of them.
