where do you find nice tops?

Help me, oh wise mumsnetters! My summer uniform used to be a dress with sandals, but due to ankle problems this year I am restricted to wearing clunky shoes and a foot brace, which I prefer to conceal under trousers. And so I am facing the problem of finding tops to wear with aforementioned trousers.
The specific activity is a semi-dressy weekend one: going to an exhibition, having lunch, seeing a play in the evening, etc. The location: London. Needs to work with flat clunky shoes (and a brace, but it is not visible).
On the bottom half I am wearing wide-leg trousers or jeans.
I would like to find interesting-looking and current tops that carry the outfit, so to speak, so not plain t-shirts. I also don't like shirts.
I am 5'4'', size 16, suit jewel colours (blue/navy, purple, forest green, teal, dark red) and black. No polyester due to the sweatiness factor.
In winter I wore nice jumpers, which were somehow much easier to find. Now I am stumped. Please help!

I like Desigual's tops a lot. Online only in the UK I think, but I've had no problem figuring out what will suit/fit me from the website photos.

Bonus is that not a lot of people have them in the UK (outwith Spanish people).

Joe Brown, East, and Roman , all online . I'm a 16/18 and in my seventies and usually find something pretty, stylish and a decent length . Good luck

Phase Eight might be worth a look too. Bit hit and miss but I've had great tunic-length tops from there in the past.

If you are having a nice lunch out and visiting a gallery, I’d be inclined to go for something a bit simpler and more classic than a floral blouse or tunic. And with wide leg jeans, something you can tuck in.

How about a silk blouse? Boden have beautiful plain ones (I love the cream) but also prints in jewel colours. With gold hoop earrings and comfy footwear (my daughter’s best friend is 15 with CP and wears a splint, and focuses on looking super stylish up top with amazing tops and accessories, with plain footwear.)

Asos can be good if you put lots of filters on. There are lots of 'skimpy' tops but there's also the odd lovely top you might not find elsewhere. Takes time though.

Yes, that's what I am ideally looking for: a super stylish top (to detract from my M&S trousers and the brace)!

I am not sure about silk: isn't it going to be sweaty when it's hot? Perhaps I need to experiment, but the price is a bit steep for an experiment...

DreadfullyUncool maybe pick up a silk blouse on Vinted to see if it works for you? I don’t mind silk in the summer, but I tend to run cold.
