Flattering basic T-shirt

Help please finding a basic T-shirt that can be a staple in my wardrobe.
I'd like plain solid colours, no fussy sleeves as I want to be able to layer it.
I'm pear-shaped 12 on top, 14 hips. My tum unfortunately sticks out further than my chest.
The seasalt trengrouse looks good on me, but I'm after something more casual in a jersey material that doesn't need ironing.

I got a couple of t-shirts in a Me +Em sale a couple of years ago. They're great, although usually too spendy for me.

I always wear a slash neck t shirt from MandS. Elbow length sleeves. Doesn’t need ironed cotton. Comes in a multitude of colours. £9.50 I just bought some to get the beauty bag.

Uniqlo £14.99 round neck jersey fabric- thick, flattering and enough structure. Look better tucked in though.

Another vote for Uniqlo - I love the crew neck tshirt. It's thick fabric but also not heavy. I'm a 12-14 top half with bigger hips too and like the XL size on me (I prefer a looser fit, the L was a bit tight on the arms for me).

I recently went on the hunt for the perfect t shirt. I tried Uniqlo, Cos and Arket.

It's very oversized though, so it might be worth sizing down.

Always the M&S Basic round neck and V neck. They are the best ones I have found by far

Next heavyweight t-shirts - so soft, wash well, great shape and quality. Really flattering and look/feel more expensive than what they are.

I love the Uniqlo T-shirt but I wish they did more and brighter colours. Those sludgy colours do nothing for me.

I agree! The lemon yellow is not going to work for me! I just have black and white. Wish they did that style with stripes.

Agree about uniqlo, I just bought the one linked above in white and it's excellent and not see-through like so many other white t-shirts seem to be.

I tried on the uniqlo white v neck recently and it was very see through. Glad to hear the crew neck is thicker ,though like the sound of the next heavy weight. Fed up of see through white tshirts! My dream is a v neck that's good!

T shirts are very unforgiving unless you are slim, avoid at all costs, buy a blouse or shirt that fits properly.

I’m a 14 and they are fine. A good bra so no unsightly tolls at the back. Hugs the boobs, skims over everything else.

Or buy a tshirt that fits properly!

In fact, all clothes look better if you're wearing the correct fit for your size & shape.

Blouses are very aging, I prefer a well-fitting tshirt.

They’ve been great in the past, but they e changed the fabric, they’re not slim fit any more, they just don’t fit nicely. Disappointing I think.

I love the SeaCell ones from Thought - they're so so soft, wash well, and are very flattering. I have long and short sleeves ones in every colour!

Another vote for M&S slash neck 3/4 sleeve ones. Also Primark is good for basics, they have 100% cotton ones at the moment, I like their basic stretch v-neck t-shirts as I wear them under jumpers and shirts and they're long enough on me.

I'm the same size as you and have lots of colours including the stripes. The diagonal arms are much more flattering than straight across.
