Swinging by to say that Nigeria is not a Muslim majority country. There are Conservative sectors and areas, but the country is fashion forward and not as prudish or backward as some mimsnet posts keep implying.

I've checked with family and friends in Nigeria and no one was offended by the sight of her bare shoulders or setting back diplomatic relations because of some tradition or protocol some random on the Internet made up.

If Diana was fine to have bare shoulders around Nigerians all those years ago, Meghan can im 2024.

A reminder, Nigeria is not a Muslim country and its non Muslim population is very conscious of exercising their liberties to make clear that sharia law or expectations doesn't adversely influence their lives.

I like the yellow dress. I think some of her outfits have been chosen to emphasise how petite she is. It reminds me of Nicole Richie, many years ago.

Serenster · 12/05/2024 18:53

Meghan was doing so well today, but this dress is a total miss for me. Far too big for her, completely unflattering on her figure, bland colour. Just ugh.

Oh that’s such a disappointment. Like you said, it’s far too big for her and would be more suited for a bigger busted woman. The colour is so dull. I don’t understand why she goes for such boring neutral colours, especially when she complained that she couldn’t wear bright colours when a working royal and then embraced colour on her leaving tour.

I kinda get the old money aesthetic but she doesn’t even do that very well. Looks like the yellow dress was the best of a bad bunch (beautiful colour, not the most flattering style).

That really is not a flattering photo 😆

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 12/05/2024 19:18

Oh God, just realised that that is Harry behind her. I thought it was her minder or something 🤣

eggplant16 · 12/05/2024 19:31

Her chest area is very boney. Not keen on that look.

MrsLeonFarrell · 12/05/2024 19:35

Back to beige again. Oh well at least we had some colour and it was lovely that she wore the skirt she was gifted as well. There is supposed to be a dinner later, maybe we'll get one more outfit?

smilesy · 12/05/2024 19:39

I had a look in to the cross necklace. I said on another thread that if you zoom in, its actually a “+” shaped cross with a jewel in the middle. Page 6 say they have been told
it is from Diana’s private collection and hasn’t been worn in public before

smilesy · 12/05/2024 19:44

Here it is. The second photo is a bit blurry as it’s zoomed in, but you can see the shape of the cross. It isn’t cruciform like it appears to be

The yellow dress is the one she wore in the Misan Harriman photo to announce her pregnancy with Lili. It looks cool and comfortable!

Papergirl1968 · 12/05/2024 20:46

Camilla at Badminton today.
I do like Camilla’s style. It’s far more “me” than Meghan’s and the younger royals.

I liked Meghan’s red dress and with her hair styled as it was she looked like a dancer but not keen on the rest. I know I’m in the minority but I think the yellow dress was hideous.

She's very boyish these days, not a curve in sight. Reminds me of Wallis Simpsons quote about rich and thin. Perhaps it's an American thing.

DuchessOfPort · 12/05/2024 21:44

I think Camilla’s in Samantha Sung - they will make you a dress from scratch and add or take an inch here or there to tailor it more to you for nothing extra. An extra inch on the bust or a slightly shorter or longer body. Not cheap dresses in the first place though.

Eaumyword · 12/05/2024 22:43

Cams looks nice - from the back it looks like it's Pippa Funnell she's chatting to.
I quite like the style of Meghan's beige dress, but why not go for turquoise, or pink or basically anything except beige?!

QueryA · 12/05/2024 23:20

I’ve not particularly liked any of the outfits but I have enjoyed having a ‘royal’ tour to watch. I wish that it could have worked out with Meghan and Harry as working royals. Unfortunately too much water under the bridge on all sides now I think. But I’ve enjoyed the last few days

That is the big difference between what the other Royals wear and Meghan. Everyone else’s clothes would seem to be tailored to fit

Maybe Meghan’s only loaned these outfits? In which case possibly they can’t be tailored to fit her?
I wish she’d wear properly fitted clothes, we all know how stunning she can look.

Maybe, although I think some of the clothes she wore in Migeria are re wears 🤷‍♀️

eggandonion · 13/05/2024 09:03

Whether borrowed or bought the right size and length are important. Surely the designers want their clients to wear clothes that fit.
Camillas dress is a perfect fit. Meghan needs to go for the petite range. As do I but I am not dainty and tiny. Just short!
It was good to see a royal tour where everyone was smiling. I can't work out the maths of 47 percent Nigerian. Meghan should do a dna journey telly programme. I love those.

Except it wasn’t really a royal tour 😆

gluenotsoup · 13/05/2024 10:38

I like the red dress sitting, but not standing, the yellow looks good. I also have liked her shoes and jewellery thus trip, I prefer the delicate styles personally.

hopeishere · 13/05/2024 13:42

The red dress was 💃🏼 for me. The yellow was great. The last one was awful. The fit was way off. She's lost a lot of weight (ozempic??) so the fit is off in some stuff.

eggandonion · 13/05/2024 13:59

It was like a royal tour and the hosts seemed happy. Iwonder how the Palace viewed it. Is there a scheduled trip for the king? I hope he is able to get out and about a bit more but not overdo things. He must miss his travels.
