Cotton knickers no VPL/bum spots!

Spottybotty2 · 05/05/2024 20:29

I have a slightly embarrassing problem.... I need knickers which I can wear with jeans (straight leg but fitted around the bum area) which won't cause a VPL. I have been wearing the sloggi no VPL knickers which are v comfortable and look good but.....they are polyester and giving me a terrible spotty bum! I think they are pretty sweaty and I spend a lot of the day sitting at a desk.

So I need cotton knickers recommendations with no VPL (would a boy short style work..?). Slightly loathe to go for a thong. And also recommendations to clear up the spotty bum! (I shower at least once per day and wash my clothes regularly).

Intimissimi do nice seamless ones.

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 05/05/2024 21:09

I always think the microfibre ones are the least likely to give VPL. I’ve never managed to find cotton non-VPL knickers (apart from thongs).

I recommend St Ives blemish control face scrub for your spotty bum!

MrsSucculent · 05/05/2024 21:18

I’m not sure why you would care if you had a VPL. It’s a very early 00s thing to worry about. Do men worry about a VPL?
Be free and wear whatever pants you want.
also re bum spots, get a good body scrub.

pepperaunt · 05/05/2024 22:19

I’ve found facial exfoliation pads work on spotty bums as well

Do people really not mind VPL anymore?!

DerekFaker · 05/05/2024 22:41

Sudocreme is good for bum spots.

LauderSyme · 05/05/2024 22:48

I mind VPL. I lost a bit of weight and swapped my big knickers for a stock of Next and M&S Brazilian knickers. They're not cotton but are great, very comfy and breathable, no VPL and no spotty bum!

Mossstitch · 06/05/2024 00:34

You need 100% cotton . Unfortunately most places put 5% lycra in them which makes you sweat. I found peacocks do 100% cotton shorts style which are comfortable and no leg elastic digging in or showing vpl.

StarlightLady · 06/05/2024 06:30

I would be surprised if your current knickers alone are causing the spotty bum. Have you considered changing washing powder/detergent?

Spottybotty2 · 06/05/2024 07:15

Thanks for the responses.

I think microfibre are what my current ones are made of.

I don't want VPL because it ruins the line of my jeans and makes my bum look odd. I don't care that people know I'm wearing pants!

What could be the issue with my detergent? It's not an allergic reaction, just spotty and it's definitely worse when I go into the office - leather car seat, then sitting all day....so I think it's a sweat thing. Wondering if talc would work?

I got some in Sainsburys.

That packet says made with modal - not pure cotton.Confused

IME it is extremely difficult to find pure cotton knickers these days. M&S have very few except massive full briefs in black. I’ve ended up on Amazon a few times, but again the only option is massive full briefs which don’t solve your VPL issue.

Squishwallow · 06/05/2024 07:52

Try women's boxers instead so it's not a vpl but a kind of visible short line.

I never cared, and it seems most people around here don't either.

Btw I would rather have VPL than the top of my thong being seen!

McFuckers · 06/05/2024 08:39

You can get bum acne creams which clear up the spotty botty a treat. Check Amazon.

Not sure about the knickers though, sorry. I just wear jeans that are too thick to see the pants through!

freezingmytoesoff · 06/05/2024 08:40

Tezenis seamless cotton pants, they are the absolute best.

AHFaemale · 06/05/2024 09:51

British Boxers do all cotton pants and boxers too. My go-to brand.

PuppyMonkey · 06/05/2024 09:52

Just had a quick look @freezingmytoesoff and this is the composition:

Composition & Care
Fabric: 86 % Cotton, 14 % Elastane
Crotch: 86 % Cotton, 14 % Elastane

ie they are not pure cotton. Sad

cannaethink · 06/05/2024 11:25

I find using an acid toner a couple of nights a week, and then a niacinamide toner on the other nights and during the day, keeps the spots away. I’ve got salicylic, glycolic and a multi acid one. Occasionally some sudocreme.

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 06/05/2024 11:34

Modal is a natural fibre, and breathable.

Do you do this even when there are no spots there? Didn't realise I might need to get high maintenance about my bum!

Ah interesting... I still think they're fab as I need seamless and most seamless options are micro fibre...so these at least are preferable to that. Although don't meet the requirements of pure cotton then, sorry 😔

🤣 yes I do! But I’m usually using the same products on my face anyway so it’s not an extra faff.

Mxflamingnoravera · 06/05/2024 14:10

Witch hazel gel will clear up the bum spots. It is brilliant for drying up spots in most places on the body.
I wear thongs, they are comfortable if you buy good ones and you can get cotton ones. I also hate VPL and in particular, GUSSET LINES across the bum. Sizing up your trousers can help, sometimes VPL is due to overtight trousers, as are bum spots.
