What would you do with a bunch of Hermes scarves

So, interesting problem to have, but I have inherited around ten Hermes scarves from an old relative. I don't want to sell them, but have no idea what to do with them either. Does anyone wear silk scarves these days?

I hate to keep them in the boxes for the next 50 years to give them to someone, but any idea what else can be done with these

Why not wear them as scarves? You don’t have to look like a 1970s air stewardess. There are modern ways to style them. Silk is do warm yet light. A true luxury in the winter.

I was regifted one from a relative who has now passed away. I treasure it but admit it’s rarely worn. It’s in its original box with the lovely note to me she included. Actually I treasure that most of all.

Although floaty scarves aren't massively in fashion right now, they always come around. A colleague of mine had a lovely scarf on, just a neck-tie one, the other day and it really made the outfit. My late teen/early twenties daughters also wear scarves, one goes for a bohemian, hippy vibe and they look great on her, even the floaty ones.

I'd pick the couple you like the best, give a couple away and see how you feel. I wouldn't give away any you genuinely liked, there's always ways to sneak a great scarf into an outfit.

Hermès scarves aren't generally floaty. The 90cm squares , which is probably what these will be, are quite a heavy weight silk.

Agreed. Why do posters think Hermés produce new designs every year if no one wears them?

I haven't bought one recently but in the current range these are my favourites.

Beautiful pieces. I'd frame some in thick black frames. Some I'd use as twillies or even headscarfs.
Failing that, maybe a short dressing gown?

Follow Nearly new cashmere on Instagram. They sell Hermes scarves & the owner knows a lot about them. I would keep them, as they're becoming increasingly valuable. Plus wearing scarves is coming back into fashion.

This is what I was thinking, can they be made into tops, dresses etc?

No no no. Awful idea

What a fabulous inheritance. Hermes scarves are so lovely, I'd love to own one (I'm not asking honest!).

I'd definitely keep your favourites and agree with others that if you do decide to sell to go through a specialist seller as they are valuable. Kerry Taylor Auctions are an auction house who specialise in textile and fashion sales -- they have auctioned some very notable collections - and I think it certainly would be worth getting them to do a valuation so that you know what the collection is worth and can make the right decision for you.
