Wedding day perfume?

Hi everyone! I am getting married in June and have been thinking about what perfume to wear. I’d like something light, sweet and vanilla-y I think, but I don’t want to smell like a cupcake. Has anybody come across anything like this? I’m not a big perfume person, the only one I own at the moment is Le Labo The Noir 29 which I love but is quite unisex and earthy, I think I’d like something a little more feminine for my wedding day.

What perfume did you wear on your wedding day? Did you buy a special one or just use one you already had?

I wore Fucking Fabulous by Tom Ford - it’s one of my my favourites. I’ve recently been wearing his Vanille Fatale scent. It’s vanilla but definitely not cupcake.

Try Jo Malone perfumes.

I wore my absolute favourite - Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum (stunning beautiful classic timeless bottle too for wedding pics and a vintage colour Parfum)

Others that are simply classic, bridal, classic with hints of vanilla hues

Elie Saab Le Parfum Bridal Eau de Parfum

La Collection Privee Christian Dior - Vanilla

Chloe Atelier de Fleurs Vanilla Planifolia Eau de Parfum

Tom Ford Eau De Soleil Eau de Toilette Spray or Eau de Parfum (this another favourite .. beautiful golden bottle , smells like a St Tropez or Portofino holiday (honeymoon) so this could be fantastic to create a ‘memory scent’ of a wedding and a honeymoon beautiful scent/memory)

Estée Lauder Beautiful Belle Eau de Parfum

I wore Channel No 5. A classic & my favourite.

My husband had bought me a bottle for the Christmas before our wedding and I wanted to smell like me on the day!

Does it have an aquatic smell?

INeedToClingToSomething · 27/04/2024 00:42

I didn't wear anything. Perfume attracts wasps in the day and mozzies in the evening.

Runnerinthenight · 27/04/2024 00:48

Chanel 19

bigdinkydoodah · 27/04/2024 04:10

I wore Oscar de la renta, it's quite light and floral. My husband to be bought it for me for the Christmas before our wedding. I still wear it now 32yrs later.

Emporio Armani She

I wore Sui Dreams by Anna Sui. Top note vanilla. It doubled as my ‘something blue’. Also coincidentally the bottle design has lotus flowers which were my bouquet flowers.

Uncooperativefingers · 27/04/2024 07:41

I wore Jo Malone Cardamom one. It's a gorgeous softly spicy scent that reminds me of balmy summer evenings. Really surprised, as I'm not a fan of anything else JM that I've smelled previously

I tried to avoid the cliche of JM, but trying perfumes now is such hard work unless you travel to a big city. And then it's tricky smelling loads of perfumes in one go because I go nose blind

NewDogOwner · 27/04/2024 08:14

I had a lovely Vera Wang one. It was perfectly wedding-y.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 27/04/2024 08:18

I couldn’t even tell you what perfume I wore on my wedding day, would just have been the one I wore around that time which would have been either Eternity or Escape!

Exactly the same here. They are still my staple favourites. I've got some L'Occitane Neroli and Orchid perfume at the moment which is gorgeous though. I think that would be lovely for a wedding day.

Tisfortired · 27/04/2024 08:25

Thank you for all the replies everyone, it’s been lovely reading your wedding day memories and I now have a long list to take to selfridges next weekend and have a sniff!

I wore Beautiful because Estée Lauder’s marketing team told everyone in the nineties that was the wedding fragrance 😂

the smell still immediately transports me but your thread reminds me I haven’t smelt it for years so need to seek it out!

middleofnowhere666 · 27/04/2024 08:29

I wore Beautiful by Estee Lauder & had numerous people commenting on it. Lovely smell and it lasts all day.

That's a nice one.

Imo OP you want something that will stick around in future so a chanel (I went for mademoiselle). Don't go for a flanker or anything too trendy.

stayathomer · 27/04/2024 08:34

Romance by Ralph Lauren, I’d had it before and realised the day before I had none left and my friend went and bought it for me!

Brosett · 27/04/2024 08:36

A friend had a consultation at Jo Malone and chose Scarlet Poppy perfume with Wild Bluebell body cream.

MRSsqueak · 27/04/2024 09:02

i wore coco mademoiselle on my wedding day.... i love it but it is expensive. i did debate wearing lacoste touch of pink as it was my favourite when we met and the first purfume DH bought me as a gift. but i dont wear it often now as my tastes have changed when it comes to fragrannces... i was 19 when i met him. was 30 when we married. my bridesmaids were passing it around as if it were a cheap dupe 😂😂😂

Amx · 27/04/2024 09:08

Jo Malone has no staying power on me at all.

The new Burberry one is gorgeous, vanilla y but not overlay sweet. Some vanilla ones give me a headache.

hohohowheniscmascoming · 27/04/2024 09:52

Try Lancôme idole nectar

Does it have an aquatic smell?

No it doesn't.
It is unlike anything else I usually wear, and goes against everything I like.
But I love it, and have worn it for years.
Ultimate classic imo, that lasts forever.

TreacleMoon · 26/04/2024 20:26

I've started wearing a newish fragrance - Burberry 'Goddess'
It's very summery, vanilla scent.
I've been stopped numerous times by strangers asking what perfume I'm wearing, I think it would make a lovely wedding scent.

Have a lovely day, whatever scent you choose to wear ❤️

Oooh I’ve been wanting to try this one!

I wear this one at the moment.

OP, I would also highly recommend Fragonard perfumes.

They do a variety of test sets:

https://www.fragonard.com/en-int/women-s-collection/miniatures-soleil-collection-p-1615.htm Grain de Soleil is floral and vanilla.

https://www.fragonard.com/en-int/women-s-collection/woman-set-p-2643.htm

is another set - will have a dig through the options now to see if there's something that sounds like it would smell how you want.

Miniatures Soleil collection - 29,00 €

These 3 eaux de parfum Soleil, Grain de Soleil, Coeur de Soleil are the emblematic creations of Fragonard's great tradition… Presented in nice miniatures bottles, with their precious sun tops, this collection is a gift which will satisfy all the perfum...

I wore YSL Paris, I wanted something that wasn't going to clash with the scent of my bouquet which was mainly roses.
