Do these jeans look good ? Are they in style ?

There are some nice styles of jeans around at the mo if you look around, I think. I’ve been looking for some after having lost 3 stone in the last 3 months and not having felt I suited jeans for years prior to this! like the wider leg but maybe not too wide and definitely not so long I don’t think. I bought these from M&S in the end. The photo annoyingly doesn’t show just how wide they are at the bottom. Not 100% certain yet, after so long only wearing dresses which didn’t accentuate my figure at all, but my 17 year old son said I look 10 years younger so I’ll take that! 😂🙈

Re; the outfit in your OP...

Ugly trousers, ugly shoes, ugly handbag, ugly outfit. Sack the 'stylist' FFS! Shock

!

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 15/04/2024 17:40

maybe a "in style" preference for some people but for me personally NO. They don't "look good" if anything they look like a trip hazard 😂 but no seriously, as we from the north would say 'they look ladgin'! Those jeans give off cringe vibes if im honest.. but each to their own I suppose 🤷‍♀️

Isometimeswonder · 15/04/2024 17:42

The outfit would look better with wide leg linen or similar trousers. Denim is too stuff.

It's a fashion influencer I follow on Instagram

What's her insta name?

SabreIsMyFave · 15/04/2024 17:44

The (white) trousers in your post at 17.20 are fecking hideous too! Why are they stupidly long? You couldn't bloody walk in them. Confused What are these 'fashion designers' thinking of - coming up with such ugly, hideous, STUPID 'styles' of clothing? Or are they permanently pissed? I can't believe anyone in real life would wear these!

SagaNorensPorche · 15/04/2024 17:45

If she wore them with a less chunky sandal they might fall better but styled like this they stop at the sandal and shorten her legs.

SagaNorensPorche · 15/04/2024 17:47

..... mind you the other leg looks just as bad.

therestisstillunwriten · 15/04/2024 17:47

Do we think they work better with a heeled boot ?

I know it’s not the point of your post & maybe I’m showing my age but I find the influencer trend so bloody depressing.

PuppyMonkey · 15/04/2024 17:51

Thread last week says skinny was back - and looking at these hideous examples of the alternative, you can see why. Grin

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 15/04/2024 17:56

These people who wear trousers that drape on the floor, don’t they care that after a couple of wears the hems will be falling apart from rubbing on the ground? Best case scenario is that they’ll be filthy.

Noseyoldcow · 15/04/2024 18:05

I'm old, and we wore jeans and trousers like these in the 70's. Only we wore platform shoes underneath, and the trouser legs were just long enough to hide your shoes and feet without wiping the floor. Only just, mind, if you got caught in the rain the legs were somehow long enough to get wet, and when they dried out, you had a lovely dirty tide mark.
Aah, the 70s. They were not so much the decade that taste forgot, it was the decade that taste totally overlooked!

SagaNorensPorche · 15/04/2024 18:08

I guess the thing with fashion is, what might be 'in', doesn't suit everyone. The only way you'll know is if you try some on and see how they look.

Some of these influencers have very little style in my opinion and often look the same, like they're wearing a uniform.

I'm also old and am so glad we didn't have camera phones back then!

ringoffiire · 15/04/2024 18:12

I think they look daft and too big. Wide legs are in fashion but I think this is an example of doing it wrong.

AlwaysGinPlease · 15/04/2024 18:12

They look awful in that photo. Maybe on someone else they'd look better.

Pieceofpurplesky · 15/04/2024 18:16

They are all awful - all three pairs you have linked too.

Forget influencers and wear what you feel comfortable and look good in. She probably hates them too but will be paid a fortune to wear them. She'll be in leggings and a greying bra behind closed doors like the rest of us 😉

CulturalNomad · 15/04/2024 18:29

They're definitely in style, but they add width and subtract height and flatter very few body types.

To each her own, but I don't want to look shorter and heavier than I am. But if you're tall, slim and genetically blessed with looong legs....might be another story.

OneBadKitty · 15/04/2024 18:51

The problem is, if you are old you will think that fashions that young women are wearing are horrible and be keen to hang on to what you have been used to ten years previously e/g skinny jeans, fitted blazers etc. That's the way fashion works.

bradpittsbathwater · 15/04/2024 18:54

Awful. Ok if you're tall and slim but not if you're a bit plump and short like me. I don't care if they're fashionable I wouldn't be seen dead in them. They don't do her any favours tbh

Better as she's tall and slim

lickthepony · 15/04/2024 18:57

I have zero fashion sense but I think these are just horrible.

Berlinlover · 15/04/2024 18:58

I thought influencers were supposed to have style, this is an awful look.

Laiste · 15/04/2024 19:11

I was going to say - totally different body shape there with the long camel coat.

Tall and v slim can wear just about anything and look good.

Shorter and dumpier (like me) the first 2 photos show that ... well ... you can of course wear what you like, but you wont look like the woman in pic 4 😂

These look slightly better but they are also actually too long. She is wearing them with heels but even then they are trailing in the ground. I actually really like wide jeans and trousers but they can’t be too wide or too long. The cut and fit is also really important. My teen dd is slim and has long legs but she has tried on styles that have been incredibly unflattering on her.
