..does it make my arse look enormous and the dress a bit meh?

The Dress

I was thinking with fantastic necklace, a shrug, fascinator and incredible shoes.

I want to wear this to get married and party (low-key, low-key, low-key) in June.

Obviously I need a different bra (duh)

SO whaddya think?

but: good dress. great boobs

you need really elegant pointy stiletto type shoes

plus a great necklace

plus something low-key over your shoulders something to counteract the va-va-voom-ity of your norks

Tutter · 31/03/2008 15:17

no no no to strappy sandals

these would be ok

but still think pointy better

Aitch · 31/03/2008 15:18

brookeslay · 01/04/2008 14:15

very elegant I with go with an Audrey Hepburn fifties vibe. Elegant slim shoes to add a classic bridal feel and a little handbag.

www.thebaytreedesigns.co.uk/product.html?idp=12&id=34 pretty set necklace

www.bluebridalwear.co.uk/1950s/beautiful_02.html Inspiration you could add a petticoat to the dress for more volume.

Click the beautiful picture at the end. That would look stunning in the styling of your dress. You could have you have up and a Audrey style tiara.

I love doing themes what is the colour scheme of your reception ?

brookeslay · 01/04/2008 14:55

S1ur · 02/04/2008 00:00

Tutter OMG thank you! I love them a lot. I think its them or something like this or this (secertly like these because they are cute

Thank you again Tilly, you are a star - an absolute star. I have no clue about theming diasies or otherwise anymore. Aaargh. I think going silver and glizty with shoes, neclace and hair. Then work out something different for decorating house.

Brookes cheers for links, a lovely idea about Audry but not sure I'd carry it off, plus the dress is more detailed than I associate with her beautifully elegent look Oh, ah yes erm themes. Don't have one yet and erm, more of a party at our house than reception, but I am working on thinking about flowers and such... honest Oooh and I am loving those hair links Thankyou!

Love the dress, very flattering.

Love that daisy necklace one. I had a similar B&W one for my wedding. Felt v. glam and have worn couple of times since to Balls.

talkingmongoose · 02/04/2008 00:20

Uumm, I think it looks a bit like undies. Sorry.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 02/04/2008 00:33

Love the dress but not keen on the colour, personally. The shoes you linked to are FAB.

Jewellery.....I found M & S costume jewellery pretty good

TillyScoutsmum · 02/04/2008 08:48

Slur - I actually really love the cute shoes you secretly like. I think they're lovely

I wouldn't worry too much about house decorating - people won't notice much by the time they get back after the meal etc. You used to be able to get the nets of tiny fairy lights which look lovely when its dusk/dark.

brookeslay · 02/04/2008 10:44

You could do a part Audrey with just a light petticoat underneath to add volume to the dress and make it feel more swishy. Glad you like the hairstyles.

You can get really cheap mirrors from Ikea 12 inch ones and dot them with a long-lasting soy tealights in little coloured pots very cheap from tesco.

I would add some fresh flowers for a romantic feel buy in season to save loads. You can also get wholesalers to send them to you. I bought alot of stuff last year in florist wholesalers if you know anyone with a business card/ cheque they can open an account. You can just have some flowers on the table with your cake. It is a special day after all .

Also you can sell everything on ebay afterwards and then make your money back.

missblythe · 02/04/2008 11:04

As your dress is short-ish, and you are so lovely and young, think you could have a spray of orchids in your hair. And maybe have a florist make you an orchid wrist corsage instead of having a bouquet-much cheaper, and you don't have to worry about what to do with it all the time.

If you wanted to continue that theme, potted orchids are cheap as chips from Ikea or Tescos, you can put them on tables at restaurant, and then keep them, or give them to people to take home. Much nicer-and way cheaper-than florist arranegements which will be dead by the time you get home from honeymoon.

Ahh, wish I was getting married again.

My dress was calf legth, and I loved it. Made it worth blowing the budget on shoes too, as everyone could see them.

S1ur · 02/04/2008 11:49

Oooh that is a lovely idea miss, especially giving them as gifts afterwards. very good. thank you!

Tilly - yes those shoes are just so sweet, have you seen the price £15! buy them anyway I think

Brooke - thank you, I think I do need to find local wholesalers, and get some sort of clue as to what's in season... Skirt has 3 layers already, silk, then embroided lacy thing, then kinda erm, net?
What I might do is take dress to shops that sells umph and try it out.

Trying to think of an excuse to buy those shoes as well ! My old office was next door to a Garage shoes and they had some great bargains. Bloody lethal !

Really like the second ones you linked as well (silver with a crystal daisy type thingy)

Potted orchids sound lovely or maybe even potted hyacinths or hydrangeas this is nice

Anyway - enough chat - you need to start sorting stuff mrs - less than 3 months to go

Make sure you let us know what you get

colacubes · 02/04/2008 14:51

You look wonderful in it, a good neckline great clevage, fits beautifully, I agree with Brookeslay, fifties all the way, get the right shoes and you will walk wonderfully in it. Every inch the bride, good luck,
