Watching with interest. I'm off to Lanzarote on Weds and my flights at 6.20.

How long is your flight. If it 2 or 3 hours, then dress for the weather when you land and take a cardi for the plane If it's longhaul then dress for the plane and change when you land.

This. If I'm travelling long haul then soft leggings and a hoodie and then change into a dress just before landing.. If just a short flight then a midi or maxi skirt, t shirt and a hoodie.

I can't be faffed changing at the airport - if it's a 6am flight then I'll have been up since 2.30, if at all. I dress for destination with something warmer on top and pack a light pashmina type thing if cold on flight. Then when I land it's that feeling of walking in to an oven, so top layer off.
Someone up thread said everything was air conditioned- not where we go! The airport maybe but nowhere else and the walk from plane to waiting in queue (which is outside going in to the building) can really test ones last nerve. Then hunt the rental car...
It's the coming back when I see people wearing hardly anything then landing in rainy England that's amusing.

I usually wear a pair of slim line jersey type casual smart trousers from M&S with a t-shirt and cardigan on top. For shoes, I wear a comfortable pair of loafers or trainers and stick a pair of slip on sandals in my hand luggage to put on when I land if needed..

The locals will be dressed for the season. It's not summer so the will still be feeling the chill 😁.

I wear my shiny trousers a t shirt, cashmere cardi and scarf/ wrap. I can wipe the trousers down after any plane spillage ( evening wear at my destination) and the scarf is wrap for the beach.

Flying to Tenerife on Tuesday. Flying late afternoon from a damp cold East Midlands. After reading this thread I have changed my outfit from M &S wide leg trousers, t shirt, white denim jacket to black leggings , T-shirt and cashmere hoodie which I can remove on landing. I need to travel in comfort now, gone are the days of travelling in skinny jeans .

TheFairyCaravan · 13/04/2024 14:24

I wear a knee length t shirt dress, a cardigan and trainers. Take the cardigan off when I land.

Hereallweek · 13/04/2024 14:28

The shoes are important too! I always go for lightweight, breathable slip-on trainers as there's loads of walking in big airports, you won't freeze or roast in them and they're easy to take off if needed at security. But not white as they're too easy to get grubby.

Loose / baggy long summer dress with a jumper and trainers / flat shoes / sandals. Take jumper off when arrive et voila

Linen trousers, a loose fitting Tshirt and a cashmere cardigan.

Anyone who wears linen trousers on a flight looks like a minor member of the Tory party who has spent a night in the cells when they arrive at their destination. Dreadful advice.

I know you think you sound clever, but you should probably be aware you just sound pathetic and mean.

It is dreadful advice. That same poster said ‘you’ll look great in your outfit from river island’. I don’t think I’m pathetic and mean. Enjoy your crumpled look though.

If flying to a hot place I tend to wear slim fit cotton trousers, a teeshirt and a lightweight woollen jumper. Plus Converse. May also have a pashmina, for naps!

When I fly I do try to vaguely bear in mind what might be useful in an emergency exit situation - I know the odds are slim, but apparently having your flesh mostly covered and decent shoes on your feet is better than the reverse.
