Is this skirt nice or not?

I'd be grateful for your honest opinions

Husband isn't keen on this skirt and think it looks a bit cheap with the gold buttons and belt

I like it but not sure if it's nice or awful!

It suits you. I like it with the cardigan

coldcallerbaiter · 07/04/2024 16:27

I like it personally. You will always be able to get plenty of wear out of it too, as it is smart casual.

Deliadidit · 07/04/2024 16:28

Yeah love it! Where’s the cardigan from? 😄

Tatas · 07/04/2024 16:28

I really like it! What's the material? It looks like it just needs a steam? The colour looks fab.

Dingdong99 · 07/04/2024 16:28

Delia it's from Sézane - I have it in lots of colours, it's very useful and you can wear it back to front too

Tell him if he doesn't like it, he doesn't have to wear it

Dingdong99 · 07/04/2024 16:29

It's quite creasy material- this is freshly ironed!

It's a nice shape, it suits you, it makes a nice outfit as you're wearing it here. I can't see from this distance whether it looks cheap, but gold accessories in themselves don't make a thing look cheap, bad craftmanship and poor quality materials are the things that come most to mind when I'm wondering if a thing looks cheap. And from that frame of mind some quite expensive things can look "cheap".

ghislaine · 07/04/2024 16:30

Unless the gold is very obviously cheap-looking, I think it’s a lovely skirt and really suits you. I wouldn’t wear it on an outing to the local adventure playground with sticky-handed toddlers but for a nice brunch it’s perfect.

Canweaffordkids · 07/04/2024 16:34

I like the style a lot, especially the waist. The material looks like it could crease easily though, how does it come out of the wash?

We are a no ironing house so I steer clear of anything prone to creasing on stubborn principle.

Edit - cross posted with you OP. The creasing would rule it out for me, I’m too lazy to iron and I’ve stopped buying lovely clothes which crease as they just linger sadly at the back of the wardrobe unloved.

starfishmummy · 07/04/2024 16:46

I think its fine (I could never keep it clean for more than 5 minutes though)

ginasevern · 07/04/2024 16:50

I love it and it really suits you. I bought an almost identical skirt around 1982 but it was in navy. I wore it to death.

Sagittarius · 07/04/2024 16:53

I like it, looks good. It doesn't look cheap to me.

keffie12 · 07/04/2024 16:55

It looks lovely on you. There will be many ways to wear it too, I think

Purplecatshopaholic · 07/04/2024 16:56

I like the colour, and the pockets! Dont like skirts with buttons down the front, but you say you can wear it the other way round. Dont think the gold is too cheap looking, in the pic anyway. I doubt I’d wear it if it needs loads of ironing though..

Lucia573 · 07/04/2024 17:32

Same here. except mine was a tobacco shade. I love it and think you look really great.

StopStartStop · 07/04/2024 17:36

It's not bad. We had similar in the seventies... I always felt scruffy in mine.

ManchesterBeatrice · 07/04/2024 17:52

Awful 👀

There was actually a tobacco shade one too when I bought mine. I opted for the navy but I so wish I'd got both. It was one of the best skirts I ever bought.

Nicetobenice67 · 07/04/2024 18:13

Love it very trendy you wear it well

WhereAreWeNow · 07/04/2024 18:15

I like it. I like the pleat/tuck detail. Is the belt attached? If not, you could always wear it with a different belt to slightly change the style.

Bobskeleton · 07/04/2024 18:19

I think this looks well put together without looking like too much thought has gone into it 👍

DrJoanAllenby · 07/04/2024 18:21

It swamps you.

FindingMeno · 07/04/2024 18:22

Yes, really nice.
