Seen these jeans all over instagram
On Instagram influencers (picture from instagram)
I've been told skinny jeans /slim are out
Is this what I'm meant to be wearing ?

Are these the jeans that are in fashion ?

I don’t know about fashionable but they really aren’t flattering, sorry, they really emphasise the crotch area!

InTheRainOnATrain · 07/04/2024 08:25

Wider leg jeans are more fashionable than skinnys right now. Don’t know whose legs they are but those jeans really don’t fit them. Which perhaps proves that it’s less about the most fashionable cut and more about what fits and suits your body??

JulietSierra · 07/04/2024 08:25

Well there are definitely wide leg jeans all over at the minute but I don’t think they’re doing you any favours so you definitely don’t have to wear them!
That pair are too long for you and as the pp mentioned, really tight round the crotch. Perhaps a different pair would look better or maybe you’re just more suited to skinnies or slim fit.

CreateYourOwnUsername · 07/04/2024 08:25

According to Vogue, skinnies are back (already 🙄).

I also don't think those are very flattering on you (sorry). Are they bootcut or wide leg? If wide leg, I think you need to go up a size. If bootcut, I think they just aren't the right ones for you, so would look again.

I am really enjoying the baggy/baggier jeans trend fwiw as I do find them more comfortable. I like loose mom jeans or straight leg the best atm

Allschoolsareartschools · 07/04/2024 08:27

Well my young adult dds wear them & they look great but it's an absolute no for me.
I'm petite so finding any to fit would be a pain & I'd be soaking up puddles all day as they'd trail on the floor!
Straight leg all the way here.
They look good on you though so if you're happy, wear them!
So much nicer than the new 'horse shoe' style.

Danfromdownunder · 07/04/2024 08:28

Skinnies are def back. Those ones are no longer fashionable but were for the past few years with young people.

ShoNuff · 07/04/2024 08:29

i can’t find wide legged styles that flatter my figure. I have a big bum and bit of a mum tum, but long slim legs. They’re always either too tight around the midsection and crotch, or ridiculously baggy if I size up.

Slim legs are my friend! You may be the same.

Fifthtimelucky · 07/04/2024 08:30

That's exactly the style that my 24 year old daughter wears.

Personally I think they're awful, especially the length, but that's partly because I used to wear wear something similar in the 1970s!

carpetmedoen · 07/04/2024 08:30

Not my picture
I've just found it on Instagram
I was wondering if I was meant to be in this cut
I'm not a fan

Reminds me of being 13 circa 2000...

Allschoolsareartschools · 07/04/2024 08:33

Well hearing Skinny jeans are back has made my day!

Angelof29th · 07/04/2024 08:33

I think that style is fashionable but I’m quite broad round my hips so I think wide leg makes me look square, I do quite like a flare or a girlfriend jean though.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 07/04/2024 08:35

I can still feel the damp denim of my youth rubbing against my ankles…

EmmaGrundyForPM · 07/04/2024 08:38

I love wide legged jeans but those ones look awful.

AllTheMiniEggs · 07/04/2024 08:39

My daughter is 5'6" and weighs about 7 stone. She's very very slim and she insists on wearing these incredibly baggy jeans and trackies.

She loves them, I think they look bloody awful so will stick to my outdated skinnies thanks.

Highlighta · 07/04/2024 08:44

They do seem to be everywhere and I was sure I needed a pair..

I have the Levi's Ribcage wide leg now, they do fit well (if normal ribcage suit you they probably will) but I'm not sure if I am a fan of the fabric whooshing around at every step I take.

And I can't seem to find the right shoes to get them to work. I wear platform trainers mostly, but they just don't look right with these.

Notthatcatagain · 07/04/2024 08:45

I think that any jeans that fit well look pretty good. Just buy to suit your body shape

If your not a fan don't wear them ...

Just wear what you like not what your "meant" to wear ....

Jf20 · 07/04/2024 08:57

Unless you’re a dedicated follower of fashion and don’t like to wear what suits you, just what’s fashionable, then it’s irrelevant.

the jeans in the image are very unflattering and poorly fitting, I don’t think anyone is meant to wear jeans which are unflattering and poorly fitting.😂

im still in skinnies, and so is my early 20s daughter. And all her friends. I don’t think they ever went out of fashion to be honest. The shops never stopped selling them and we never stopped seeing folks wearing them.

Mumof1andacat · 07/04/2024 09:00

Wear what you like and what you fits you and feels comfortable. I've always liked a bootcut. Always struggled with skinny. I don't have the thighs. I like a straight cut. I like a wider fit trouser though.

moreoutsidespace · 07/04/2024 09:02

Wide leg jeans are in at the moment but those don’t fit that person wearing them. It’s like all jeans shopping, you need to shop around and find what fits you properly.

Floisme · 07/04/2024 09:52

I think this is the best time ever for wearing jeans - pretty much shape and style imaginable is out there. I don't think many people saw this coming - I certainly didn't - but I'm thoroughly enjoying it and I suggest we make the most of it while it lasts.

The jeans in the pic are a bad fit which I think is a different thing altogether from what's supposed to be flattering.

spacehoppercommuter · 07/04/2024 09:56

I think so yeah. But they look bloody awful lol

I will continue with my skinny jeans and bootcut variations. They suit my figure and I am not going to make myself look like a twat in the name of "fashion".

I agree with a PP that this is the best time for buying jeans as the range is massive. It used to be that you'd struggle to find a jean style that wasn't fashionable at the time but now you can buy anything

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 07/04/2024 09:57

Why would you wear what you are 'meant' to be wearing rather than what you like and what suits you? Every time anyone says that some particular style of jeans is dead and that nobody wears them any more, there is plenty of evidence all around us that it's not true.

zaxxon · 07/04/2024 10:15

Exactly, just wear what you like. I've been out in London a lot recently and have seen every imaginable shape and cut of denim. Lots of women looking great in skinnies, bootcut, straight, wide, you name it.

Instagram people always need something to "push", so they invent style rules that they can talk about to make themselves look cutting-edge.
