Wrinkly / crepey neck

BearlyUp · 06/04/2024 18:21

I’m mid 40s and have recently started to notice my neck is looking wrinkly / crepey, despite daily moisturising (currently an E45 one).
So to try and prevent further deterioration, can anyone please recommend a good moisturiser for the neck / chest area?

I hear you, my neck is the only thing that gives my age away, it’s sad…
I have just completed this and saw improvement, it lasted from start of August till, so 7 months with daily use. Serum still left and I will repurchase. I have left serum and day cream sink in, then SPF on top.

Also in day time, I would layer Q+A super oil under SPF, and if WFH top up the oil through the day once. It does not fix the structure but well moisturised looks better.

Be careful with retinol, neck skin is thinner and can burn easily, I had a flaky patch for 6 months due to lack of understanding.

Local beauty salon recommended radio frequency, app. £300 to stand with for round of sessions, best results show in 3 month, then regular maintenance. I am considering it ahead of my wedding. Would be good to hear if anyone has success with it.

Thank you @RockTheRunway
I wfh a few days a week, so can do some decent slathering!
I think I need a really rich daily moisturiser, and yes, with spf. Both for my neck and chest area. And that’s a great idea about upping my game and doing it throughout the day. I’ll try this.

I like the Prai stuff from M&S.

RockTheRunway · 07/04/2024 13:48

Sorry, I didn’t post the link to the thing I completed, it was PRAI neck hero’s set, day, night and serum. Good deal at £55 on many sites.

BearlyUp · 07/04/2024 20:44

That’s interesting that you both mentioned Prai! I will definitely look into that.
Thank you @RockTheRunway and @skippy67

I've seen some good reviews of wrinkle patches (mostly neck and décolletage) - I think I tried one last year but couldn't get it to stay on overnight!

ASighMadeOfStone · 07/04/2024 21:09

Blue pot Nivea or Astral.
And take any serums and sunscreen down as far as your decolletage

Mirandawrongs · 08/04/2024 18:03

I use Vaseline.
morning and night just a light coating, soaks in quickly and feels soft not slimy!!
both my sisters have crepey necks and I asked my daughter (brutally honest) if I did and she said I don’t!!

Mirandawrongs · 08/04/2024 18:03

I’m 54 btw, middle sister!

lindyloo57 · 08/04/2024 18:19

Sorry I tried the prai from marks, it did nothing for my chest and neck

BearlyUp · 08/04/2024 21:12

Thanks @lindyloo57 - good to hear all experiences

Sorry if I'm hijacking here, I'm in the same boat, just a little younger, my neck skin is awful, I'm so self conscious of the crepeyness and it's getting me down. I've always used moisturiser with SPF as I'm so fair, currently using olay serum and L'Oréal revitalift but if anyone has any miracle cures that don't involve surgery I'd love to hear about them.

Watchthedoormat · 08/04/2024 21:25

I use Nivea blue basic one.
I noticed a bit of crepey- ness(?) a few weeks ago which is why I started using this and I've noticed an improvement.
I have also upped my water intake which I know has definitely helped.
I'm mid 40s.

MumOfOneAwesomeHuman · 08/04/2024 21:36

I've seen amazing before & after results on a local beauty salons Instagram from something called a Nefertiti Neck Lift (I think it's radio frequency & something else combined).

I'm 53 and happy with my neck. I have a full 3D Hydro Facial about every 4-6 weeks.

Signing in for advice! I tried Prai before, might give it another hot.

Back21970 · 08/04/2024 21:39

I started using Prai and initially liked it but gave up because a few times I bought a large tub and it pilled up badly when I put it on, had to throw it out.

Don’t know if maybe it went off quickly as didnt happen with the small sizes.

Im using Prickly Pear oil now at night and sunscreen over moisturiser for day.

I also ‘slather up’ with cream or oil on WFH days - seems to help slightly.

Might give the Vaseline a go.

Axx · 08/04/2024 21:41

Prai didn't do a thing for me.

I've just bought an infrared neck thingy. I'll report back in a couple of months

That’s interesting about Prickly Pear oil @Back21970
I’ve read about that before (probably on here!)

Another one to add to the list then.
So that’s PP oil
Prai
Nivea blue pot / Astral (+ spf)
Vaseline

So that’s a good start - thanks everyone 👍🏻

@Mirandawrongs when did you start using the Vaseline please? It sounds interesting but If you have been doing this for 20 years then I've missed the boat......

Only about a year ago!
I started doing it when I actually looked at my older (by two years) sisters neck!
it’s just become a habit now, after bath/shower or just wash my face put a bit of Vaseline on my palms warm it up a bit and smooth it on!
Face, neck and chest. 2-3 minutes later, soaked in. No grease just softness.

Nousernamesleftatall · 16/04/2024 20:20

Neck exercises and castor oil left on all night.

3luckystars · 16/04/2024 20:23

I’ve noticed a lot of women our age with permanently pink looking necks and chests also.

3luckystars · 16/04/2024 20:24

Is it sun damage? Like the skin on your back isn’t wrinkly so it must be the sun.
