Microblading help!

Hello, so I decided to have my eyebrows micro bladed and found someone near me, who seemed good, to do it. I just wanted to have my sparse areas filled in but I am now worried they have gone too thick. My eyebrow artist has said it is a normal process of healing but they look too thick on day 1 of healing. I can’t find any evidence to say they won’t be as thick on the internet, only that the darkness will reduce. Does anyone have some Microblading experience to make me feel any better? Definitely feel like I made a mistake in having them done. Do I just need to stick out the healing process? Thanks

Has anyone had it at day 14 that your eyebrows are coming away with a lot of skin? They have got bare patches and a lot of hair is peeling off with the skin. They were scabby and looked dry so I applied cream last night to help moisturise and reduce the red skin. Today I was able to get them wet in the shower but they look as if they are completely peeling away. It’s quite gross so apologies!

I didnt lose any more than a couple of hairs in total throughout either healing process. I'd maybe speak to your artist to clarify whether or not that is a common occurrence.

scoobysnaxx · 10/04/2024 19:51

I remember when I had mine done she said they'd go really dark, the scab over and go itchy. They they'd peel away and go really light before settling down again so don't panic! You should last check up where she checks them and add in a stroke or too..

ABirdsEyeView · 11/04/2024 09:45

It's normal for them to look patchy. Something to do with the skin cycle and the ink being absorbed into the skin. You have to trust the process. Any bits that don't 'take' properly will be filled in at your follow up appointment.

When I had mine done , she did say that it takes on some people better than others - those with very oily skin might struggle a bit.

Rollergirl11 · 11/04/2024 10:30

My practitioner says that people with any immune issues are not suited to microblading as the body rejects the pigment. For some people it doesn’t take at all and the body pushes it all back out.

DrJoanAllenby · 11/04/2024 10:33

They are too big at the moment which is also emphasised by them being too symmetrical.

As it's early days you will have to wait and see.

DrJoanAllenby · 11/04/2024 10:35

Why do they make them mirror images of each other, it makes them look like that 'Angry Birds' cartoon game.

They would look much better if the person did them slightly different as natural brows are.

paymenterror · 11/04/2024 10:58

I think they look lovely. I've had mine done a few times and the first ten days is awful. I look like ming the merciless. It then goes nasty and crusty before finally looking good.

I think it's worth it though.

thesleepyhoglet · 11/04/2024 12:16

Is this a tattoo? Is it permanent? They all look amazing but it's so brave to have it done somewhere obvious... but I'm also totally keen!

Micro blading. Is semi permanent. It does fade over time.

I agree with this. You don’t have to have them mapped completely symmetrical and they look more natural if they enhance your own shape. In fact having them identical makes them far higher maintenance as you will no doubt have to remove more hair from one side which you will have to keep on top of when it grows back.

My brows are naturally different shapes with one more arched then the other. I’ve kept that as I don’t mind it and have concentrated on filling gaps where more brow is more sparse than the other rather than changing the actual shape.

Here are mine a few weeks after my annual top up where I just had a few extra strokes out through.

ABirdsEyeView · 11/04/2024 13:52

I also had mine following the natural shape of the brow and agree it makes maintenance a lot easier - eyebrows are sisters not twins, I think I read on here once!

Toothbrushh · 11/04/2024 18:26

I would not pay to have wonky brows though. That’s the whole point is that they make them better.!!

Mine are called powder brows so they don’t have those strong lines like some do

DrJoanAllenby · 11/04/2024 18:41

@Rollergirl11 yours look great and natural.

I've seen a few TikToks recently where people are regretting microblading, one woman still had a pinkish block of ink 7 years later. So they're not guaranteed to fade completely.

They look good 😀

I thought I’d like mine done, and I would, until I asked how much they cost. I was expecting around £100.

I don’t know where I plucked that figure from to be honest

And I can’t remember how much she quoted me now, but when she told me, I was so shocked, that she said that I could pay by instalments 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I do semi permanent make up and microblading

Good brow technicians charge anything from £250 - £800 . This does depend on where you are, down south is usually dearer and north a little cheaper

But For anyone reading who is considering getting brows done ...please please for the love of god Don't go to anyone charging less than £200 🚩🚩🚩🚩 🚩 believe me I've seen the results from cheap "artists" and they're cheap for a reason. People come to me thinking I can fix them and I cant sadly - I have to refer them for removal which is painful and time consuming as well as expensive . Save up and go to someone good

The person who does my brows charges £450 and she's incredible, worth every penny

Lots of us do interest free payment plans to make it easier. I have a pay in 3 option

It is permanent

The reason it is sometimes known as semi permanent is because It will fade over time, a lot. In some cases the pigment isn't visible in the skin to the naked eye but it's there. And if you get them done they will need refreshing every 2/3 years on average

But it is a tattoo.

That’s bollocks to say they have to cost a lot to be good. Mine cost £300 and I’m very happy

I experienced this, I'm not aware of any immune issues but the pigment didn't last on me even with the top up, gutted really as it looked great at first.

ElsaMars · 11/04/2024 19:29

I had mine done today and I'm swinging between delight and horror. I feel like they look so silly and fake close up and I look terrible with no make up on, like an angry middle aged Mediterranean woman. The idea was that my brows would look good on holiday with no make up on!

The shape is lovely and they'll fade.
