Perfume Recs Please?

I have been wearing Jo Malone Lime, Basil, Mandarin for years. I love it but it just doesn't last five minutes on me.

I like Clarins Eau Dynamissante too but, again, its staying power is fleeting.

I've tried Jo Loves (the red bottle and the Pomelo) and there's something in both of them that I don't like.

Based on the fragrances that I do kind (LBM and ED) does anyone have any other recommendations for scents for me to try?

Thanks.

I have this problem too / perfumes don’t stay for more than 5 mins. If you like LBM have you tried Chanel’s Cristalle as an EDP? It lasts on me…

Hadjab · 23/03/2024 21:53

Le Labo Santal 33, Fredric Malle Music Raveger & Byredo Gipsy Water seem to last longest on me.

Itsrainingten · 23/03/2024 22:17

I was thinking Chanel Cristelle too. Specifically the Eau Verte. It's like Cristelle but with lime. Sort of like fresh lime-y grass 😁

MissBattleaxe · 23/03/2024 22:46

You might like Issey Miyake A Scent. It's a refreshing green citrus and it lasts for ages. Even better, it's under 30 quid. I love Cristalle but I can't afford the new 100ml.

LSGX · 24/03/2024 13:39

Thank you so much for these suggestions.

How interesting that Cristalle is recommended - I used to wear that about a million years ago! I'll have a try.

I'm not keen on Issy Miyaje (my brother in law wears the male version and it just reminds me of him) or Santal 33 but I'll try to find the Music and Gypsy Watee to try.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply xx

Rive Gauche?

ASighMadeOfStone · 24/03/2024 16:29

You're definitely a crisp green!

Aside from Chanel Cristalle/Eau Vert or 19, Paris-Deauville in their colognes is beautiful.

4160 Tuesdays Ealing Green might suit.

Annick Goutal Eau du Sud has that sharp kick of lime like Cristalle.

I love Eau Dynamisante but I use the body lotion, the fragrance lasts much longer and I always get lovely comments when I wear it. Its much better than ghe perfume for staying power and fragrance 'depth ' iykwim.

CaveMum · 24/03/2024 19:25

I found ordering a sample box from The Perfume Society helped me find some new fragrances. Unfortunately I turned out to have VERY expensive taste 🤣

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/03/2024 01:17

Perfume Parlour LBM oil lasts ages.

QueenBitch666 · 25/03/2024 01:36

This is genius 👌

WavingCatsandDogs · 25/03/2024 04:01

The craft scents..... one is vapour rub, another is dettol!

Why smell like a sick bay?

WavingCatsandDogs · 25/03/2024 04:05

@LSGX @DollyTubb
BTW Eau Sauvage men's fragrance smells like Eau Dynamisant, I get the perfume oil from Perfume Parlour.

FluffyFanny · 25/03/2024 08:38

The problem is, you are choosing perfumes that are citrus based and fresh smelling and these ingredients just don't have staying power. Perfumes that tend to be long lasting and have good sillage are usually the heavier smelling ones- you are never going to get that with a citrus perfume.

Chanel Cristalle is discontinued in the EDP. Cristalle Eau Vert is very light and fresh and doesn't have great staying power or sillage- it is lovely though.

I can recommend Vetiver Fatale by Atelier Colognes for a fresh scent with a reasonable tenacity. Also, Versace Versense is quite good.

FluffyFanny · 25/03/2024 08:40

Diptyque L'ombre dans l'eau has that crisp green feel and lasts for a while too!

FluffyFanny · 25/03/2024 08:41

Especially in the EDP version

LSGX · 25/03/2024 21:09

Really thank you everyone.

Lots of great ideas here - I'm going to take some time to work through them all.

Thanks again to all xx

I get my perfume online from Eden who are a vegan and cruelty free shop in Brighton. They do dupes of famous perfumes. The fragrance last so long.

They have a citrus gift box. You may like some of those since you like the lime, basil and mandarin.

They also do another sample box that you can pick your own selection of fragrances. You could search and see if they have any of the suggests made on this post so you're not splashing out on something that's not quite for you.

Citrus Box

A fine selection with 5 of our best citrus fragrances, hand selected by us filled in our 10ml spray bottles. Citrus fragrances are derived from lime, lemon and tangerine, amongst others.

@FluffyFanny Cristalle EDP hasn't been discontinued, it was unavailable for quite a while last year, with Chanel being their usual aloof selves and not explaining why, but it was to repackage both the Edp and the EdT- to make the bottles more sustainable and remove unnecessary plastic. Both are now back. Might still be a bit hard to get hold of until full restocks have been done.

What has been reformulated apparently is Cristalle Eau Vert, but I haven't smelled the new one so don't know how much of a change there's been.

Here's a thread from earlier this year

If you like citrus maybe one of the Acqua Allegoria scents would be worth a try. I haven't owned one for a few years so can't remember how good the longevity is but I think they do last longer than LBM.

I also love Eau Dynamistante but agree the body lotion lasts longer than the spray.

Edited

Oh right, that's good news- I assumed they had got rid of it because they only had the Eau de Toilette on their website last time I looked.

Just had a quick look now and the do have the EDP version- not in a black bottle though, it's in the classic Chanel bottle like Coco Mademmoiselle. They also appear to have made Cristalle Eau Vert an EDP now.

Darklane · 26/03/2024 21:12

Aldi do a good dupe of Lime, Basil & Mandarin. It’s their No1.
Don't think they have perfume but have a wash & a hand/body lotion.
