Royal Style: with hope, our threads continue

Evening everyone. I'm starting this new thread at a bit of a sad time, and I know we're all thinking of Kate and her family. Let's hope that as we continue in our lighthearted way, good news arrives for her, and others who are in a similar situation, either themselves or loved ones.🌷

She seems to have adopted the habit of wearing pairs of brooches in the style of buttons on the collar of her coats, whereas the late Queen usually wore them both on the same side. It works well with these examples of the late Queen’s brooches, I think, because they are round in shape. They are also very pretty and shiny ✨

The coat doesn't sit very neatly over the front does it? Not sure if it's pulling or a bit tight or whatever but it's not quite right.

I like Camilla's hat and coat. I'm not keen on the rest of the outfit.
I do like that she is a bit less formal. The late Queen always looked a bit MOB, but I presume that it was her generation's style.

Mathilde in Ghent. I kind of like the bright green on her because it's a bit brighter than her usual choices. I also think her hair looks nicer just slightly less formal and sprayed.

I prefer that green dress on Mathilde to the green suit she wore earlier this week. The trouser shape and length just don’t look right.

I love those hats of Camilla's. They're quietly flamboyant and also look nice and warm. I get the impression that she is a practical woman.

Some of you are going to say "what on earth is this woman saying again?" but I don't like what Camilla wears most of the time. The clothes are nice enough but her style is the same, over and over. It's like she wears an uniform in different colours.

Being older doesn't mean being boring. Queen Sofia is 10 years older and still looks great because she dresses in a variety of styles.

Totally agree @Alondra I think her style is pretty stuffy, a bit fussy maybe, she often looks sort of trapped under the weight of all the layers she wears.

I often think the BRF is anchored in the past regarding style. They appear to conform to a way of royal dressing that doesn't fit or make allowances for being in 2024.

They always look their best when they are not wearing "royal style" but are dressed informally.

The shadow of the queen lies over them still. Camilla I realised doesn't wear trousers. Perhaps Charles doesn't like it when on duty. I've seen her in jeans somewhere though at home

I can’t really get too excited by the BRF’s clothes. I think Beatrice is probably the most interesting from a style point of view but I find even Kate’s daywear a bit dull most of the time. She’s gives good gown though! I don’t get the love for Zara either - unless she’s dressed casually she tends to look a bit trussed up and like she got lost in Karen Millen in 2008!

She wears them sometimes - more than the late Queen did, but that’s not saying much! Most often when on foreign tours, when she often wears a long kaftan top over wide-legged trousers. Which is a look that suits her well, I think.

I do think the Euro royals generally strike a great balance between appropriate for the occasion/comfortable/modern and our chaps could take a few fashion risks every now and then.
I do think though that Kate for example, has a clear work wardrobe and if that helps her to separate work from home, then fair enough.

This picture is exactly what I was talking about. Camila. She looks great in jeans and informal style but somehow it doesn't translate to the way she dresses as a "royal". She can use blazers, pants, business shirts etc for royal engagements but never does. It's like there is 50 year difference what she wears in private and as a royal.

Cams is a good old horsey gal with lovely slim legs! Like Anne, whilst always appropriately dressed for the occasion, I think clean and neat is higher on the agenda than modern and fashionable.
That said- she looks fabulous in that white trouser suit - wow!

Cams is blessed with gorgeous hair - real tiara hair. It's like a halo!
I'm very glad that she's giving the jewellery a good outing - it's pointless keeping it in the vaults.

I love everything about this outfit of Charlene's, especially the red lipstick, dark manicure and absolutely gorgeous Loro Piana coat.

She is looking good. You know how I don't like grey, but it's certainly a chic outfit.
