Evening everyone. I'm starting this new thread at a bit of a sad time, and I know we're all thinking of Kate and her family. Let's hope that as we continue in our lighthearted way, good news arrives for her, and others who are in a similar situation, either themselves or loved ones.🌷

Now that's an age gap! Though it appears that Emma & Willem had a happy but short marriage due to his age

QueryA · 29/04/2024 14:05

I love these pictures of Amalia, particularly the one of her and her dad. However WTF is Max wearing on her head 😮

A butterfly headdress! Apparently the town they were in is known for its butterflies.

Maireas · 29/04/2024 15:30

That's a lot of butterflies! Max and Amalia look lovely.

The butterfly headband is a lot.

That is such a sweet photo of Wax and Amalia.

I also have three DDs and seeing the Dutch princesses gives me all the feels.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 29/04/2024 18:22

Only Max could carry off that headband.
I thought it was Ivy & that she'd been raiding the local forest 😂
Though I can see now that its butterflies

Papergirl1968 · 29/04/2024 18:40

Camilla today.
The Boots are getting another wearing.
I like her brooch.

I'm glad she's wearing the brooches.
That looks like Britannia!

No, not at all, she's definitely a little Grimaldi.

@Maireas she definitely is a Grimaldi and Jaques is the model of Charlene

thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes · 29/04/2024 20:08

I think Britannia would fit as she was meeting the crew of Maiden (along with some of the original Maiden crew).

Even if you are not into sailing in any way, I would really recommend the film

Sophie has become the first British royal
to visit Ukraine since the Russian invasion, and met victims of sexual violence.

That must have been a very harrowing experience, but I'm glad that their voices are heard.

I deeply admire Sophie for her work. It is substantial and impactful.

gingercat02 · 29/04/2024 22:23

Brilliant work from Sophie, but that dress!

Papergirl1968 · 29/04/2024 22:31

The dress would look better with black shoes, I think.
Or actually on second thoughts, the dress in floral all over would be fine, but the black bits on it are a bit odd.

ShamedBySiri · 29/04/2024 22:40

Is the dress a nod to Ukrainian traditional dress? That was my first thought.
It's the sort of thing I might have thought a good idea until I got there and stood next to the chic and glamorous Olena Zelenska when I would instantly feel plump and frumpy. 😓

Well done her going there.

I like Sophie's dress (these photos show it more fitted yet flowy)
I can't believe that's she's 60 next year as she looks much younger.

It's a really nice dress, the colour and fit are good, and there's a nod to the traditional dress.

Sophie has made an excellent speech about rape as a weapon of war.

Yes, I've warmed to it. I think some of the children and women she met would have recognised something about it and been pleased to see her dressed like that. She had a really busy day by the look of it and packed a lot in, I wonder if she stayed a night with the Ambassador for an early start. There was an evening reception too and at some point she changed her shoes (indoor ones much nicer) and let her hair down.

She's really embraced her role raising awareness of sexual violence against women in war and did a good speech. Well done her.

"The Duchess, who visited in her role as champion of the UK's Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative and the Women, Peace and Security agenda, said 'women and girls pay the highest price' in war."

Eaumyword · 30/04/2024 08:59

Not a fan of her dress, but pleased Sophie continues with these important agendas.

She's got to get in the last few outings for The Boots before spring and summer force them to the back of the wardrobe for a while!

LadyEloise1 · 30/04/2024 10:30

I too thought Max's butterfly headband was ivy @TracyBeakerSoYeah.

I admire Sophie visiting Ukraine and the cause she is championing but I really don't like her dress.

SqueakyDinosaur · 30/04/2024 10:38

I admire both Sophie and Camilla for taking on some fairly gritty subjects in their portfolio of interests. I think William may be going the same way with homelessness, but he really needs to be more visible and out & about on it.

To be fair, he has a bit of a pass at the moment.

I like Sophie’s dress. She’s doing the literal dressing thing with a nod to Ukraine national dress. Kudos to her for all the work she is doing to raise awareness of rape as a weapon of war
