Evening everyone. I'm starting this new thread at a bit of a sad time, and I know we're all thinking of Kate and her family. Let's hope that as we continue in our lighthearted way, good news arrives for her, and others who are in a similar situation, either themselves or loved ones.🌷

Max looks great.
And here is Victoria attending a marine conservation conference.

Pastel trouser suit again, I'm really not keen.
At least the trousers aren't too baggy.
Plus she has a winning smile!

Amalia looks very statuesque in the middle. She’s very like her grandmother, isn’t she? I assume the lady on the left is one of Beatrix’s sisters.

MotherofPearl · 17/04/2024 20:52

I think both Leti and Max look amazing in their blue evening gowns and tiaras. I love that Max has gone the whole hog with the diamonds.

Is CPV wearing the same blouse Eleanore was pictured in yesterday?

A nice story about Anne. Thirty years after opening a Carers Centre in Waterloo, Anne visited again. The comments are nice, and heartwarming.
Anne is wearing a cheerful red coat - for a moment I thought that it was the one she wore thirty years ago, which wouldn't surprise me!

Princess Anne visits Sefton Carer Centre she opened 30 years ago

The Princess Royal opened the centre in Sefton in 1994 and returned earlier to mark the anniversary.

It’s a different coat but the hair has not changed!

Going back to our conversation from a few days ago, do we think Anne dyes her hair? She does have some grey but at 72 I’d expect a lot more than just some. Then again my grandmother still had dark streaks in her (undyed) hair when she died and she was over 90!

chesterelly1 · 17/04/2024 23:00

Love the co ordinating blues of the evening wear (and of course the bling).
Talking of co-ordination I love that each pair of ladies managed a red/green theme today. Think I liked Leti's dress best although I did a double take at the photo posted by Livelyblake - it looks like she has a set of buffalo horns on her head.

A symphony in blue! Nice to see Queen Beatrix as well.

That’s a lorra Queens.

Amalia is looking very regal. Great picture.

Yes, it varies a lot in people, doesn't it? I would say she probably puts a tint in it maybe to reduce rather than eliminate the grey? I could be wrong, though!

I don't think Princess Anne dyes her hair at all. My mother is mid 70s, older than PA, and has even less grey (and doesn't dye). Sadly I've not inherited those particular genes.

Maireas · 18/04/2024 07:43

Yes, I think it's probably genetic. She's certainly fairly low maintenance otherwise!

Tiaras seem to be like buses, they all come along at once. I do love royal bling. Out of the 5 main royal ladies on show over the last few days, I think Leti and Max have done best with their jewellery. Albeit a bit large if there is such a thing😆

MT, I don't think that is the right tiara for her hairstyle, you can't really see it. I love the aquamarines, but I don't think they go with her outfit, something pink would be better, or just diamonds. I love love love her rose brooch. 😍

Matilde, like @LadyEloise1 said, she would have been better borrowing MTs aquamarines, I love her necklace, but I think the dress needed some coloured jewellery. And strangely I'm not a fan of the nine provinces tiara, it looks like 2 different pieces jammed together.

Max, she certainly loves the big jewellery. I really like her stomacher/brooch.
Leti, also looks great. I like the diamonds with the strong cobalt dress. Coloured gems would be too much.

Amelia, I think she would have been better with either diamonds, aquamarines or sapphires. I would recommend the dutch aquamarine tiara the ears of wheat or laurel wreath or sapphire neck sapphire necklace tiara. Its also a shame that we can't really see the necklace because of the cape. However I do think she looks great.

I'm so picky! As if I could do any better 😂

Matilde and MarieTeresa at a concert last night. I'm not sure about MTs dress. Its Oscar de la Renta, but I think the pattern is too busy for her, I prefer it on the model. Matilde looks lovely - and very tall!

Good jewel review @QueryA. And I'm glad you don't like the nine provinces tiara as I believe it is mine on the spreadsheet. Although I prefer it as a bandeau without the upper section. It's prettier and more low key.

I think Amalia's necklace would have looked better over the top of the cape so you could see it more.

CliffsofMohair · 18/04/2024 15:44

Can I nab Amalia’s peacock tiara or is it spoken for @Maireas

Maireas · 18/04/2024 17:06

I'll have to check the Spreadsheet of Splendour, @CliffsofMohair !

Looks like Leti and Max have swapped roles, with Leti opting for the bold clashing choice for once!

I know that pink and red are seen by some as a welcome and innovative combination but I loathe it. I really don't like that bubblegum shade of pink, apart from anything else.

Max looks okay but the belt is maybe too wide and high, and I'm not sure about the raw edging detail on the top half.

Maireas · 18/04/2024 17:54

Yes, I'm not a fan of that pink, Leti looks so good in red, she should have stuck to that.
Max does look a bit muted. It's not a "Max" look, really!

Lovely ladies of royal style and beauty I'm a long term lurker and occasional contributor to this thread but a fairly frequent name changer (I even have a tiara or two on the spreadsheet of splendor). Anyway I need your help. In May I'm having my own royal S&B moment as DH is invited to a Buckingham palace garden party and is taking me as his plus one.

I'm 5'9" and size 14-16 with an hour glass figure. I had an outfit in mind (a tailored navy jumpsuit and jacket to be worn with yellow shoes/ hat and my lovely navy/yellow floral bag but it is sold out in my size. With less than five weeks to go I need a plan B.

Pictures are my bag (I have the matching shoes but they are spike heeled so I'm passing them over in favour of a plain yellow block heel Mary Jane). And the jumpsuit I had in mind.

The link is an alternative (much more spendy) jumpsuit but I'm unsure if the top will make me look the size of a moderate stately pile.

Please let me have your honest thoughts.

I have a plan C plain navy dress.

How exciting! The shoes and bag are great, really different. I'm guessing that you want to stick to navy for the main outfit?
I think the caped jumpsuit in the picture is lovely,. It looks interesting and elegant, but there's really no way to tell how it fits. Can you try it on?

Runningupthecurtains · 18/04/2024 19:33

I guess I would have to order and return it if it's not good in the flesh. We live in the sticks so nowhere easy to get to that might have it in stock.
