Shoes for everyday

hsar200 · 09/03/2024 09:21

Ok so for ages I've been struggling to find shoes! I usually wear midi dresses with leggings and ankle boots. I'm a size 20 and the leggings and dresses are a non-negotiable. Can I please have some show reccomendations for every day please? I'm a wide fit as well. I feel like they would totally elevate a basic outfit but I don't know what to buy! My old boots are starting to fall apart so I really need a replacement soon! I'm 28 if that helps! I find it so hard to keep up with the current trends and I don't know if I can pull off trainers as haven't owned a casual pair since school. Please send help!!!

I wear a lot of Nero Giardini Trainers. They have different styles.

They have some really smart ones I wear at work. I don't do heels anymore unless I'm having to go to a wedding etc and I find heels really old fashioned if I'm honest.

jeaux90 · 09/03/2024 09:28

John Lewis stock them but also on their website.

idontlikealdi · 09/03/2024 10:04

Wear DM boots, dunks and wallaby's

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 09/03/2024 10:07

Clarkes - try them as they have different sizes and iwidths

hsar200 · 09/03/2024 13:15

Thanks! The trainers are nice but I feel like they'd be a bit jarring with my style as it's quite ethnicy. I tend to shop a lot of monsoon and wear florally printed dresses! I'm part of the heeled ankle boot generation!

I find Clarkes quality is not as good as it used to be. Will check out DMs as haven't checked them since school when everyone had their gothic phase.

I wear Converse or Converse like shoes and boots. I buy the Converse like shoes and boots from Primark. They do them in multiple colours so I can match them with my outfit most of the time as I have quite a selection.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/03/2024 15:11

Blundstone boots, now sold through Seasalt. Go with everything.

The half sizes indicate wide fit.

jeaux90 · 10/03/2024 15:50

Ah ok so not really a trainer woman, how about Camper shoes? They have some interesting designs and might go better with your style. So comfortable too.

hsar200 · 10/03/2024 22:02

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Unfortunately nothing really like what I'm looking for. I don't even know.

Love these and they are also the type of thing that I buy again and again but need something a bit different but also ladylike? Gosh I hate that word.

Have a look at Wonders. Beautiful shoes and boots.

boredybored · 11/03/2024 05:49

@hsar200 wouldn't those mint velvet kill your feet for everyday ?

If that's what you like then get a low heel black western boot .

I don't ever wear shoes , only trainers and boots . Shoes are so uncomfortable or frumpy if not .

Chunky Loafers would work but I feel like you wouldn't like them

Pepsimaxedout · 11/03/2024 06:07

Why do you need to change your style of what you like? I'm 43 now and realised that fashion isn't for me. I wear what I like and what suits me.

Personally, I live in Vans but I WFH. When I wear something smarter, I like chunky heeled Chelsea boots.

This is the look most of my peers go for too - Nero Giardini, Russell and Bromley, M&S etc all have versions in varying budgets.

hsar200 · 11/03/2024 12:29

@pepsimaxedout it's not about changing as much, the issue is more that I really don't want to be wearing boots in hot hot summer!

Thank you for your recommendations everyone!

I'm on the lookout for good comfortable shoes to wear with dresses too. Ones I've spotted that might do are Geox ballet flats on house of Fraser website, and Gabor flats, which are leather with little perforations that would be cool in the summer. I don't want to have to "wear in" shoes, but it's going to take spending a bit more to get good ones.

Flockameanie · 11/03/2024 13:38

Brogues. (Pretty much the answer to any footwear question). I’ve got a pair of Clarke’s tan ones that go with everything

AuntMarch · 17/03/2024 07:39

I need shoes!
I hate all the shoes you suggested, I like these shoes!

Was this meant to be an advert targeting other people who need shoes?

corkystclair · 17/03/2024 08:21

brogues, and those perforated leather ones for summer. One (or two) and done.

Ah right, I understand now!

Unfortunately my summer footwear is vans, flip flops or crocs! 😆

StormingNorman · 17/03/2024 08:57

Birkenstocks could be comfy and cool for summer with your monsoon dresses. I wear mine with everything from post-workout gym gear to jeans, a smart trousers/blazer combo and pretty dresses. They literally go with everything.

luckylavender · 17/03/2024 08:58

Fly Chelsea boots. Go with everything.

edited to clarify cool for summer…not what I think is cool to wear!
