The buttery Amazon leggings!!

dothehokeycokey · 02/03/2024 12:56

Just wanted to post as I caught a thread on here a few days ago about the best buttery leggings out there that aren't extortionate.

Lots of posters recommended the Amazon ones with a link.

Anyhow and as per usual when I see a recommendation here I duly logged on and bought a pair.

They were £8.50 Star

So they turned up yesterday and I remembered this morning so chucked them on after a shower and wow they are the most comfiest and best fitting leggings I've actually bought and I've bought many many pairs over the years ranging in price from £5 upto £75.

Wel see how well they wash and dry but so far so good

I have ordered both XXL and L-XL as the combination of 34 inside leg and size 18 may mean the L-XL are too short. They are arriving tomorrow and I will post findings!

@mushroom3 - I’m a very similar shape to you, perhaps a little bit bigger, so really interested in how you got on?

girlsyearapart · 04/03/2024 16:12

Also ordered some and agree they are great so soft !

I bought these after the recommendation but I'm afraid they went back!! Yes, they are very soft, but this is at the expense of any structure whatsoever, as a previous poster said. They showed every lump and bump and you could even see my cellulite through them! I prefer a firmer legging that's a bit more flattering, but if only bought for comfort or perhaps you're luckier than me in the lump, bump and cellulite dept, then they did feel very soft!

What leggings do you wear @inlotsofknots ?

My dd has a birthday comming up and wants Lululemon.

I do not and cannot wear them out of respect fopr my felow man. They really would not survive the sight!

inlotsofknots · 04/03/2024 16:42

@yesmen I have been wearing Next own brand, which used to be thick, firm and flattering. I do wear them at the gym though as opposed to lounge wear only. I was hoping to find a legging that would suit both! However, looked on the website yesterday to see that they've changed the design and reviews are poor and all complaining at the new design! So it's back to the drawing board 😢

Ithinkitstimeforbed · 04/03/2024 17:40

I’ve put this is another thread so just wanted to add my thoughts.

Okay they are very very soft but so so thin. To compare I think they must be 1/4 the thickness of Lulu Lemon and Sweaty Betty. I am 5ft 9 and a size 8, they’re a bit short and the small is massive. They’re very loose with no tummy support. I got them in brown, you can see the pattern of my knickers through them, I didnt even attempt a squat. I imagine every bump and wobble is visible. Tbh if they were tighter they’d be even more unforgiving! Have a good look at the photo reviews before you buy, especially the lady who bought the light colour ones, they’re so thin you can see her leg tattoos through them.

I won’t be wearing them out of the house, definitely not exercise appropriate for me, I’ll wear them at home under a baggy jumper. But they’re only £10- get what you pay for and all that.

Ithinkitstimeforbed · 04/03/2024 17:54

Also I should say I know they’re plus size leggings, I bought them with the expectation they’d be loose but I find sizes on leggings don’t matter that much cos they stretch. Having said that I wouldn’t want them tighter as they’d be so unflattering and see through!

InterrudelyUpted · 04/03/2024 18:15

Mine arrived yesterday, I love them!!!

Fabric is just very soft and matt, v stretchy, it's lightweight but not see-through... cat hair hasn't particularly stuck to it so far, so that's a win!

And who hasn't heard 'buttery soft' used as an adjective for an item of clothing, it's synonymous with good quality leather for a start.... some people being deliberately obtuse just to be annoying 🙄

I ordered them too (tried a dark green pair), 5'1 also an 8 and definitely agree they are too loose and you can see my knickers through them. It they were just a touch thicker and tighter they would probably be OK. I have a pair of Shein light grey and white camo leggings that are much thicker and more flattering and only a bit more expensive.

I'm sending them back, I think they are only really suitable to wear around the house and I wanted to wear them out.

They are very soft but you can tell as soon as you get them out of the packet that they are a bit cheap because they feel so thin.

ClaudiaWinklepanda · 04/03/2024 19:38

Have people been suffering from stiff, hard, or sharp leggings in the past, to necessitate this weird buttery adjective?

EdithGrantham · 04/03/2024 20:16

I'm really surprised with people who have found that they're see-through and thin! Yes they're definitely not gym leggings but for wearing with long tops the black ones I've had have been perfect, much thicker than the material of most ones I've found in shops and no danger of that kind of see-throughness you get on the thighs with some leggings

mushroom3 · 05/03/2024 07:54

Just to update on L-XL and XXL sizings. There is only 2 inches between them unstretched, Both sizes fit me well. I'm an 18-20 apple shape. The difference I saw was the legs were slightly tighter on the L-XL and overall, as they were slightly tighter they felt more like gym leggings and the larger size like casual ones. I think if you are an 18 or 20 you can take either size, if you are slim legged take the smaller one. One thing I did note the legs are longer than standard leggings and would be long enough if you are 6ft tall (true for both sizes, leg length was the same). They may be too long if you are shorter than average.

Overthebow · 05/03/2024 08:42

Mine arrived yesterday and they are so comfortable. I’m a size 16 and the L-XL fit me well.

WearyAuldWumman · 05/03/2024 12:40

I'll be interested to see how mine are. They're arriving today. I'm 5ft 9 and a size 20, so went for the biggest size in black. If they're no good for the gym, they should be okay for layering under trousers.

There's differences though
I have sweaty better power which I wouldn't say are buttery soft at all
Then I have peloton cadent leggings which are the softest leggings I own
Sturdy by design are like a slippery material

I have some New Balance sports leggings which are very firm and very smooth, my pudgy lumpy legs feel like two bicycle inner tubes in them. Grin

I think like other PPs, I'm struggling to make the leap to 'buttery' as that gives an impression of something that's water-resistant, like leather.

Lookingoutside · 05/03/2024 15:43

Mine JUST arrived. Can’t wait to try them.

Thank you @mushroom3 - very helpful!! Can I ask - do the leggings look thin or see-through please?

BlunderMifflin · 05/03/2024 19:28

I've just got mine and put them on. I'm 5'2 and size 18 with chunky legs, bum and stomach.

I got the black pair in XXL with pockets. They are SO soft! The pockets are great (one on each side) perfect size for my phone. The leggings are thin but feel much more stretchy than standard leggings and not at all see through. They come up quite high and don't fall down or roll down at the waist. They are FAR too long for me, by a good 3 inches but I'm only wearing them at home so I don't care. They don't pull my stomach in like my gym leggings do, but these are not gym leggings.

I don't really like the term 'buttery soft' but I can see why people say it as I've never had a pair as soft as these before.

mushroom3 · 05/03/2024 20:55

@SecretSoul they are fine! I will be wearing them with long tops

Brilliant, thank you! I am a similar size and shape to you - apple with long legs - and I always wear my leggings with baggy jumpers or tunics that sit mid thigh. I was just worried about them looking cheap if they were as thin as a couple of PP suggested.

I think I’m going to give it a go in the larger size - thank you!

superstar63 · 06/03/2024 14:56

Any recommendations for firmer leggings that hold you in a bit more, especially round the thighs and give you the bum of a 20 year old lol? I have the sinophant ones but not that impressed with them.

Maybe some with a bit of a boot leg would be nice for a change but then I suppose they are yoga pants rather than leggings.

I only have black and am thinking I need to venture to maybe navy and burgundy too.

Also any links to longline tunics/jumpers would be appreciated too as cant seen to find any nice ones.

Thanks

I got inexpensive black leggings from Marks and Sparks. Def not got the bum of a 20 yr old, but they're a bit firmer.

DrowningButNooneIsListening · 06/03/2024 15:02

I've had these a couple of weeks now and they are super see through. Comfy enough but def see through

Zaxi · 06/03/2024 15:06

bunnypenny · 02/03/2024 15:13

No they don’t hold you in at all. And they’re v long (I’m 5ft 6 and they bunch around my ankles). I’ll be returning them.

also, buttery soft? Boak.

I love that they are so long, quality is fine

mmmmmm, leggings on toast.

Im currently wearing Primark fur lined leggings, keeping me warm and hiding my varicose veins!!LOL
TBH the nicest ones Ive found have been from a JD Williams catalogue...only problem with them is no pockets.
