The buttery Amazon leggings!!

dothehokeycokey · 02/03/2024 12:56

Just wanted to post as I caught a thread on here a few days ago about the best buttery leggings out there that aren't extortionate.

Lots of posters recommended the Amazon ones with a link.

Anyhow and as per usual when I see a recommendation here I duly logged on and bought a pair.

They were £8.50 Star

So they turned up yesterday and I remembered this morning so chucked them on after a shower and wow they are the most comfiest and best fitting leggings I've actually bought and I've bought many many pairs over the years ranging in price from £5 upto £75.

Wel see how well they wash and dry but so far so good

All the people querying 'buttery'. "Buttery soft" / "soft as butter" is a common phrase/idiom. It's not a weird use of the word.

What are people wearing these with, it’s ages since I wore leggings apart from at the gym?

TakeMeToKernow · 02/03/2024 18:56

Do Amazon deliver on Sundays? I’ll be reviewing my new purchase tomorrow or Monday…

Do they hold you in? Make your legs look good?! I like soft but I like to feel streamlined!

I am fat with lumpy legs (v attractive HmmGrin) and they hold me in and smooth out the shape of my legs so actually I can look at them and feel vaguely attractive (v much not normal for me). The high waist helps with the post-c-section overhang too, tucks everything in nicely.

I've got a big bum and a curved lower back and normal leggings tend to dip down at the back/across the waist but these ones don't.

MassiveOvaryaction · 02/03/2024 19:05

I've just checked my Amazon account and I've had one pair almost 3 years. They still fit the same even after loads of wears/washes, haven't gone thin and shiny or bubbly at all.

AnonyLonnymouse · 02/03/2024 13:19

I have these but tbh they are only really good for loungewear use. No ‘holding in’ power, zero elastane and not at all to be compared to proper exercise leggings.

Sorry but the term ‘buttery’ is also really off putting - what on earth are people thinking using a term for a form of fat for an item of clothing? Not that it reminds me of a notorious abusive film scene or anything.

That's really bizarre that your experience is completely polar opposite to mine. Maybe I've just been lucky (with my 4 pairs).

I wear leggings under dresses instead of tights because I HATE tights.

Camelliugh · 02/03/2024 19:12

I wish I could wear buttery leggings but I’m afraid I’d look like a Bash street kid with the knobbly knees etc

Oversized jumpers/sweater/cardigan..I always think baggy on top, skinny on bottom is a good balance. And vice versa..tight fighting top, baggier bottoms!

SomeFiggyPudding · 02/03/2024 19:26

Ok I’ve bought some. I mean, who can resist with these reviews?? Plus I’ve got some orange ones so I’m chuffed!

roarrfeckingroar · 02/03/2024 19:38

They're soft but quite large and don't hold you in at all. I'm a size 6-8 and the S/M feel like there's way too much space.

Olivebrancholivia · 02/03/2024 19:40

The term buttery makes me irrationally angry.

Camelliugh · 02/03/2024 19:44

Sounds like something Alan Partridge would wear to the gym

Autumnlover8 · 02/03/2024 20:05

Anyone know how they compare to Adanola leggings please? I live in them

Mummy2mybear · 02/03/2024 20:13

bunnypenny · 02/03/2024 15:13

No they don’t hold you in at all. And they’re v long (I’m 5ft 6 and they bunch around my ankles). I’ll be returning them.

also, buttery soft? Boak.

What size did you order? I want to try im 5'6 too normally size 10 in bottoms wondering if I order a size down they might come up shorter.

I'm desperate to know the answer to this question !

Me too. My first thought was that they were all slimy inside.

Mine are Sinophant high waisted leggings in burgundy and navy. They’re lovely and soft, to be fair, but no strength to them whatsoever. I originally bought the burgundy pair to wear under a dress, as tights.

Whereas today I am wearing a pair of proper exercise leggings (15% elastane!) and I have to wrestle my way into them. But I look properly sculpted, even at a size 14. If I pull the waist away from my body they snap back with a proper ‘ping’, whereas my Sinophant leggings have no ‘ping’ at all.

(To any perverts who have got pleasure from that, I feel very sorry for you.)

AristotelianPhysics · 02/03/2024 20:38

I’ve been buying these since 2022. They really are very nice.

mynameiscalypso · 02/03/2024 20:42

They're fine. I have a couple of pairs. I don't wear them for exercise as they're so loose. I'm a size 8 and they don't really stay up when I do anything vigorous. They're comfy in the way that pyjamas are but I don't think there's anything amazing about them.

Iamabigdill · 02/03/2024 21:02

Mine arrived today. I’m size 14 and ordered the XXL having been warned that they’re tiny sizes, probably could have got away with the XL as they’re a little loose. Very soft, not see through, no digging in or rolling down. Yep they’re good.

I mean they clearly don't hold stuff as firmly as exercise leggings but that's not what I bought them for. I wear Sturdy by Design for running, these are casual. Mine do ping though. I'm larger than you so I guess that makes a difference.

Also have burgundy and navy btw! Plus grey and black. Bizarrely the burgundy despite allegedly being the same size did come up a bit bigger.

Unusualactualname · 02/03/2024 21:21

:(
They don't come in navy.

Can't see navy.
