Alexander Payne looks as if he's put on weight since he was measured for that and has had to wear someone bigger's trousers.

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 19:17

Deepika Padukone: very classy, lovely, fairly forgettable

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 19:18

Adjoah: interesting necklace, good colour. I'm pretending I didn't notice her feet.

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 19:19

BDH: quite like this, except for the midriff sides (and I can't work out whether it's trousers or a very restrictive dress)

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 19:21

Is Reg standing on a slope or something? Love the suit, not keen on the socks.

ThePoshUns · 18/02/2024 19:21

I like Daisy Edgar- jones hot pant / dress combo.
Care Blanchett and Emily Blunt my favourite.
Emerald Fennell - not keen
Emma Corrin - no comment

CharlotteStreetW1 · 18/02/2024 19:22

The top of Margot Robbie's dress reminds me of those little goggles we used to wear on sunbeds.

megletthesecond · 18/02/2024 19:22

Lily Collins looks great on screen. Don't know what the bottom of her dress is like though.

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 19:22

Celeste's I rather like, but the tights make it look as if she doesn't trust the dress to work by itself

IPartridge · 18/02/2024 19:24

Sophie ellis bextors outfit is fun and she looks happy. So that's my favourite

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 19:26

Sabrina Elba: like the styling but (that fabric again!) every seam is obvious.
Vera Wang can wear what she likes but she does look a bit like a drowned Victorian in a nightie
Hannah Waddingham yeah! but moar flower less gap

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 19:28

Molly Manning Walker - meh. (also, if you're going for androgynous for whatever reason, don't have a floppy bow)

ThePoshUns · 18/02/2024 19:30

Sophie EB looks gorgeous

Beingwithagroupogblokes · 18/02/2024 19:33

Loved SEB

SausageAndEggSandwich · 18/02/2024 19:33

Cate Blanchett, Carey Mulligan and Deepika Padukone are my wins for the women. I loathe cut-outs and see through lace/mesh on the body/legs. Emily Blunt's dress would have been the winner if it wasn't for that (it would have been a totally different dress haha!) but the embroidery is beautiful ❤️

I liked Andrew Scott and Cillian Murphy's getup. God knows what Barry Keoghan was wearing - I think he was moonlighting as a plumber and forgot to change.

TiredCatLady · 18/02/2024 19:34

Emily Blunt always looks immaculate and today is no different. 100# my favourite. Margot Robbie’s outfit is really playful (again, seldom looks anything less than stunning), Da’vine Joy Randolph also looks gorgeous - real old school glamour.
I seem to be the only person who thinks Emma Stone had an unfortunate incident with Mr Scrooge’s bed curtains.

Doubleapple · 18/02/2024 19:39

Andrew Scott - Winner about all! Grin

SausageAndEggSandwich · 18/02/2024 19:40

I hated everything about Emma Stone's dress @TiredCatLady

It's awful. The colour, the big puffy sleeve, the horrible hem like a shower curtain.

I did like the little buttons at the side. Thought they were a nice decorative touch but everything else was grim.

ETA - had another look and realised the skirt part is translucent. One of my hates! 0/10 for her outfit I'm afraid.

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 19:41

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 18:27

Emma Corrin is in 4 different outfits, none of which suits her face shape

I have to take this back (it was nearly dinner time and I was rushing to comment).

The shoes suit her face shape.

merryhouse · 18/02/2024 19:55

As a Red-Carpet outfit: Fantasia, all the way. Then Taylor Russell. DEG just because I'm so conflicted about it.

As a bit of a dresser: Lily Collins, Charithra Chandran, Celine Song, Ryan Gosling, India Amarteifio, Sabrina Elba

As a well-dressed socialite: Vivian Oparah, Phoebe Dynevor, Meg Bellamy, Marisa Abela, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Deepika Padukone, Reg

As something my little heart covets: Mia McKenna Bruce, Hannah Waddingham, Greta Gerwig (modified); Emily Blunt if dyed green

Edited

I just noticed the see through element. Just whyyyyyyy? Having seen it from a couple more angles, the top half of it is really poorly fitted regardless of that weird puff sleeve and the curtain fabric.

I oddly like Florence Pugh’s silver corset with black velvet ensemble.

MadMadamMimz · 18/02/2024 21:02

I am genuinely baffled by Florence Pugh on the red carpet.

She is a gorgeous girl with a nice figure but always shoehorns herself into an unflattering sack. I can't work out if it is a fashion choice and she thinks she is being "edgy" or if she deliberately wants to be on the worst dressed list so people bother to talk about her.

SausageAndEggSandwich · 18/02/2024 21:35

I love her hair and makeup

But the dress is bizarre I agree - she often looks terrible and blocky on the red carpet. It's a real skill making a lovely woman look like a troll.

Sausagenbacon · 18/02/2024 22:55

Emma Stone's dress was truly awful.
Dua Lipa's won by a mile.

Ramalangadingdong · 19/02/2024 13:40

It's a shame we can't actually vote. Then we could have our own MN BAfta fashion award.

I like Emily Blunt's dress (that has to be one of the cleverest dresses I have ever seen on an award show) I love the way the flesh colour is actually her flesh colour. It's amazing. I really hate what Florence Pugh wears to awards shows - the clothes seem to be wearing her somehow. Love Lashana Lynch's look - there is a very elegant Deepika Padukone in a stunning dress, Rosamund Pike's dress is also classy. Of the men Rami Malek, Ryan Gosling, Calman Domingo, Andrew Scott and Cillian Murphy all made a good effort. I should include Brad Cooper because, although I think he looks like a ship's captain, at least he made and effort and didn't leave it to the women to be the only clothes horse.

I bet they all looked brilliant in the flesh, though.
