Dupe for Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream, does it exist?

About to run out of this, my favourite moisturiser, and trying to cut back financially.

I’m 54 with combination skin.

I have a real mix of bargain and high end skincare and make up products so happy to try anything.

I'd say Cerave PM moisturiser is not a bad alternative for the marine cream, if you're talking about the normal one (not the rich one). I like the marine cream for its light, almost gel like texture which doesn't clog pores and Cerave PM is not dissimilar.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/02/2024 18:13

I use CeraVe PM cream and have done for about 3 years now, it's fantastic.

BaconAndAvocado · 08/02/2024 18:50

Do you use just at night time?
I'm looking for a day cream.

OP posts:
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/02/2024 19:03

No,I use it in the day, there is an AM one with SPF but I have to avoid that.

TheOGCCL · 08/02/2024 19:06

I use it in the daytime and the night time.

Obviously separate SPF during day.

Not what you want to hear but -

If you love something and it works for your skin then stick with it .
QVC have some good offers on Elemis ( and at the moment you can get 3 Easy Pays if you apply the code ALL3EZ)

Otherwise you can spend loads on compromise products that will end up in the drawer because really .....you want your Holy Grail .

BaconAndAvocado · 09/02/2024 07:27

70isaLimitNotaTarget
With the 3 easy pay deals I always worry if they affect my credit rating?

And yes, that's not what I want to hear 😂

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/02/2024 07:36

I've just googled the price of it , I wouldn't pay that on principle even though I can afford it, nothing needs to be that expensive, there are other alternatives.

ramonaquimby · 09/02/2024 07:38

Oh but it’s so nice!!!

10ThousandSpoons · 09/02/2024 07:39

If you are after a dupe then I'm afraid there I can't think of anything that has the same scent profile. The texture of the day cream is similar to a lot of day creams that come in a jar though - not the "gel moisturisers" but just a standard garnier cream.

ramonaquimby · 09/02/2024 07:40

Amazon often have good prices too, I usually buy the marine cream and cleansing balm from them. Subscribe and save a little cheaper (you can cancel)

BlindurErBóklausMaður · 09/02/2024 07:42

I agree with both @70isaLimitNotaTarget and @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor

If you love something and it works for you, and you can afford it, then why change?

That said, there is nothing in Elemis Marine which justifies how expensive it is. The main ingredients are cheap as chips moisturising mainstays like glycerine and silicones of various types. The actual "marine" element and the "pro collagen" element are one and the same (an algae) and extracts of it are way way way down the ingredients list. Ingredients experts like Lab Muffin etc say the first 5 or so ingredients in a product are the ones that are doing the job on the tin, so on that basis alone, any moisturizer with glycerine, hyaluronic and silicones in it (which is basically every moisturizer on the market) could be called a dupe. They won't smell as nice though!

DuchessOfSausage · 09/02/2024 07:44

Isn't the Aldi Caviar one meant to be a dupe?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/02/2024 07:50

I've just been googling and the Elemis cleansing balm must be as cheap as chips to produce as the Superdrug one is the same according to reviews so I reckon there must be alternatives to the moisturiser.

I think that's a dupe of either Sisley or La Prairie.

Yep. I had one of these in a gift set and yes, bloody gorgeous. But you know what gorgeous? The texture. That's all. Very similar to the Sali Hughes balm (but the SH one smells odd) like a loose gel-balm rather than a waxy balm.

The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics 30ml - LOOKFANTASTIC

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/02/2024 08:04

I wouldn't actually buy from Look Fantastic, I used to order a lot but delivery and customer service are awful these days so I'd order elsewhere.

sparkleroo · 09/02/2024 08:10

It's your cash & your choice op but there's no way I would be paying £57 for a 30 ml fancy jar of cream. You rarely get any visible results from the cream as it doesn't penetrate beneath the surface of the skin.
If you want real results try a high dosage collagen drink - my skin is the best it's ever been from collagen supplements.

Apart from the collagen good old cerave is what I use am & pm & my skin is glowing Smile
