Microblading - yes or no

cactihurt · 06/02/2024 19:27

I have microblading booked and I'm feeling like absolutely melt and want to cancel it

Should I have it done or not?

My brows are fine and sparse, slightly uneven

I just don't want to look too fake and weird with no make up on? And also the healing interfering with sport.

Then also when they fade they meld and spread?

100% yes

I had mine done I found the pain ok and it was over quick the technician did numb the area

The result afterwards was worth it I barely wear make up but I feel put together x

Explain your concerns have you researched the person you're going to?

Clementine8 · 06/02/2024 20:26

Same as above. Make sure you have researched who you are going to but so worth the disruption whilst they heal

EffinMagicFairy · 06/02/2024 20:55

Research feather brows, powder brows, combination brows, check out instagram and really do your research.

cactihurt · 09/02/2024 19:30

Ok I'm going for it! Might do live updates!

I had mine done before the first lockdown and they’re still not bad. I do fill them in with brow liner now but at least I have a good shape to work with. Mine weren’t even that well done but it made such a difference to how I looked and how easy it has been to maintain nicer brows. I’d plucked mine to death since my early teens and they were reduced to fine, sparse lines. I’ve not had any other treatments like Botox, fillers etc but I’m glad I got this done.

Chaiilatte · 09/02/2024 19:41

ooh following as I'm in the same predicament! My brows are sparse and i fill them in daily, even if I'm not wearing make up, as they look uneven and over plucked and won't grow back. But I'm worried about them looking odd without make up on and obvious.

I really want mine done. But Im worried about the week after when they are scabby.

Strokethefurrywall · 09/02/2024 21:12

Definitely yes, make sure to sparingly use the ointment they give after to help with healing but only a couple times a day.

The only downside I had was that I couldn't workout for about 10 days because of sweat.

They look pretty bold when you first get them done but after they heal they look great.

Charlieradioalphapapa · 10/02/2024 00:33

Mine were nowhere near as scabby as I expected and I have really sensitive skin. I looked like one of the Angry Birds at first and absolutely hated them but they soon faded to something less scary.

GentleRosePeer · 10/02/2024 01:48

No no no no no please don't.
I have done it and regret it so much
I feel like I paid someone to butcher my face.
It's permanent and it will be on your face forever. The semi permanent thing is a lie.
All that will happen the lines will merge and fade into a grey/orange block. Sometimes they spread too.
Removing it is also extremely difficult as you'd have to get it laser removed and laser doesn't recognize yellow (if you pick blonde/brown eyebrows they will have some in the ink obviously) and you will end up with yellow eyebrows permanently.

Please check the subreddit /microbladingremoval

It's a nightmare for so many people

They also look amazing in pictures but they ALWAYS look fake in real life. There's no way you can mistake tattoo ink for real hair.

Save up money and get eyebrow hair implant if you can. For now please just use a pencil.

I had mine done years ago and loved them. They've totally gone now and unfortunately can't afford to have them redone

You must have had them done at a bad place. It’s really important to do the research. A lot of them make them look really fake.
Find a place that goes for the natural look. Less is more to start with.
They look really dark for a few days, but it heals pretty quickly and the scabbing isnt bad at all.
The pain is horrible though. I have normal tattoos, but the micro blading pain is completely different. I absolutely hate the feeling. The brows look so amazing that i still keep redoing them every year or so.

SunshineAndFizz · 10/02/2024 07:11

Yes do it.

As others have said, do your research and find a good place.

You release how much a decent brow can do for your face. Good luck!

MattDamon · 10/02/2024 07:31

I did my research, went to a top practitioner and still ended up being butchered. They don't magically fade away after 18 months as some like to claim. They often fade to a horrible grey or red. Even with laser they sometimes can't be fully removed, leaving a bright yellow colour.

Snoken · 10/02/2024 08:52

A friend had hers done in 2019 and they looked amazing for a couple of years. Now they have turned grey and the fine strokes have melted so it’s more of a solid grey shadow under her brown hairs. Looks really odd and has completely put me off doing it. Your brows are always on show so it’s important they look good but a sparse and uneven brow would look better than what she ended up with.

redboots765 · 10/02/2024 09:54

Oh my word, the pictures on that link! I would not do it OP.

BoysBagsShoes · 10/02/2024 10:47

Research carefully first, but if you get the right person they are 100% worth it.
I had very sparse brows (combination of teenager in the 90s, perimenopause and fair hair) and I honestly don’t know why I waited so long. They are the brows I should have been born with!
Hopefully I’ve added photos correctly, first is now, second is two days after (so dark and scabby, but not much!) and last is straight after. I had them done in June last year.

Although this might look like pics of my skin, when you click on pic it does show brows😂

Cappuccinfortwo · 10/02/2024 11:02

I have seen so many bad ones ot put me off. It's a fad anyway. They are already looking dated imo.

JanglingJack · 10/02/2024 11:10

Probably a stupid question, but what happens to your normal eyebrows - do they grow back?
If they've faded can you not have them redone?
90s teen also 🤣

MiddleagedBeachbum · 10/02/2024 11:27

I’ve booked to get mine done for the first time in 2 weeks - nervous now!
