Microblading - yes or no

cactihurt · 06/02/2024 19:27

I have microblading booked and I'm feeling like absolutely melt and want to cancel it

Should I have it done or not?

My brows are fine and sparse, slightly uneven

I just don't want to look too fake and weird with no make up on? And also the healing interfering with sport.

Then also when they fade they meld and spread?

I had mine done 6 months ago, I had very few hairs, so had to draw them on every day. I absolutely love them, made such a difference to my face/life.

Mine barely scabbed at all, just got a little dry. Take a couple of paracetamol 20 mins beforehand.

@MiddleagedBeachbum Have you read the Reddit threads? When it goes wrong they look terrible. There's some seriously sad women on those threads. The cost to laser them off!! I have a tattoo that has bled outside of its lines, it don't matter, it's not visible, but if that was on my face, it would be a nightmare.

ElaineMarleyThreepwood · 10/02/2024 11:41

Honest question: what is the point or benefit of microblading? I have dark thin eyebrows and emphasis occasionally with makeup. Why would I have them microbladed?

boonr · 10/02/2024 11:47

Definitely do it. My eyebrows were crap before. Really thin & one of them was about 3/4 of an eyebrow because I had a scar.

They looked amazing after. Mine have faded quite a bit now (had them done about 2/3 years ago) but still look better than before I had them.

Exactly this. It's £200 per laser session to remove in London. I've just booked in for my fifth.

And there's no guarantee laser will actually work.

Personally, I’ve never looked back. The best appearance related decision I ever made. Do make sure you do your research and are going with a reputable practitioner.

No no no no no please don't.
I have done it and regret it so much
I feel like I paid someone to butcher my face.
It's permanent and it will be on your face forever. The semi permanent thing is a lie.
All that will happen the lines will merge and fade into a grey/orange block. Sometimes they spread too.
Removing it is also extremely difficult as you'd have to get it laser removed and laser doesn't recognize yellow (if you pick blonde/brown eyebrows they will have some in the ink obviously) and you will end up with yellow eyebrows permanently.

Please check the subreddit /microbladingremoval

It's a nightmare for so many people

They also look amazing in pictures but they ALWAYS look fake in real life. There's no way you can mistake tattoo ink for real hair.

Save up money and get eyebrow hair implant if you can. For now please just use a pencil.

I’ve booked to get mine done for the first time in 2 weeks - nervous now!

Take this as a sign.
Please don't 🙏🙏
I'd invest in very high quality makeup or even get your eyebrows tinted every couple of weeks

whoscoatsthatjacket2012 · 10/02/2024 14:36

I love mine. Had them done years ago and they look great. Go for it

cactihurt · 12/02/2024 21:57

Right... I bottled it! Cancelled appointment and feel relieved!

The things that stood out for me were that it is a fad and already a dated look. I don't want brows that look microbladed m.

Secondly as they fade the spread and go solid. Also don't want that and she even said that is how hers went.

She did say there is less chance of pink etc as the new pigments are better

I treated my self to a new brown pencil!

Microblading limits style flexibility, so unless you're committed to a specific look I’d proceed with caution. Ink migration is also a concern- It’s great when the initial boldness softens, not so great when the colours change and it turns into a splodge. The colours used are also hard to remove.

It’s the right decision for some people, but given the permanency of it I think hesitation is probably wise

thaisweetchill · 12/02/2024 22:07

I really think it depends on where you get it. I work with two women who have both had it done.
One lady is very light haired so I was concerned how it would come out... you wouldn't have noticed she'd had it done the practitioner must have got the colour spot on and she's done it so so well I was really impressed but I think she did spend more than average.

The Second Lady who is more dark haired have not come out so well. You can see the strokes and they don't look like hair IMO, you can tell it's microbladed and personally don't think they've done a very good job.

Nightscroller1 · 12/02/2024 22:16

I got mine done 5 years ago. They've bled but still look okay. No one notices they've been done but I actually really dislike them, feel it's a dated look and think they'll be like this forever, luckily not a bad thing but it's a hard no from me.

This is them, make up free 5 years since they were done by a reputable person in fine brush strokes. (I've not brushed my actual brows so it makes it more obvious) Similar to those posted when just done. May need to click on pic to see them.

I was concerned about the ‘block’ look/bleeding too. Apparently this can happen when the aesthetician tattoos too deeply or too frequently. They aren’t supposed to be permanent and they should fade over time. I was amazed when I was told that she would contact me in two and a half years to see what they looked like!

tangledzebra · 13/02/2024 09:13

I agree, please do not get them done. I paid a lot of money for mine and researched for months but even so, they have gone blocky as they have aged and now look dated. It is essentially a tattoo on your face so please be careful. I am in the process of getting them removed and it isn’t enjoyable. I have been using eyebrow oil (hair ingredients from Nez Hasan) and getting them tinted and that is a much more natural look. I also use a refy eyebrow pencil and that helps as well.

LadyBird1973 · 13/02/2024 10:55

I love mine. My eyebrows were getting sparse and I hated the patchy look. I think it's made a dramatic difference to my face. I think they do look natural - they follow the shape of my natural brow and basically just replace what I've lost.

redboots765 · 13/02/2024 19:00

Good call Op. I'd never consider this. I'm pleased everyones posts have made you think about it.

Personally I think they are always obvious, and the smudging bleeding can take years.. my body tattoo was perfect for a good 10 years, before it started to bleed. That's a nightmare if it's on your face. The cost of laser removal is thousands.

It should be a considered decision.

Myglassishalffullish · 13/02/2024 19:15

Thanks for posting …. I‘ve done sooooo much research and quizzed my choice of technician within an inch of her life 🥴
My mate just had hers done and loved them. The long term reports are putting me off now 🤔🥺

cactihurt · 13/02/2024 20:42

Yes I'm please I cancelled for the above reasons

The technician was really good and understood it was an important decision. I did pay a non small refundable deposit as I cancelled with just over 48 hours notice.
