I actually think over-40s look better in this look. The idea that the person wearing it has been around the block a bit, has seen some shit, is hard as nails: age only enhances its impact, to me.

It’s true the prices seemed outlandish - but honestly - the clothes were not clothes as we know them. There was a dress … made of woven cotton and paper and I don’t know what.* It looked like straw. Don't worry about cleaning it. After having had 2 jackets from Pauw, Amsterdam reduced from crisply tailored to limp rags (one was saved by a dressmaker taking it apart and redoing the stiffening) I have things I simply don't get cleaned.

"Mob wife" was a deliberate style dig at nouveau riche, flashy, more money than taste style... I guess that would be like WAG style in the UK.

I've got a couple of leopard print things and I was thinking they made me seem a lot older.

I had a grey and black animal print top. it looked really good on, but I felt older and frumpy wearing it. I know MN frowns on the 'frumpy' description but that's how I felt.
