Mine is that often when trousers are described as 'high-waisted', they are not at all high waisted on me. They just aren't hipsters!

I would prefer large boxy things to be on trend rather than half-length cropped things without sleeves.......because you can take a too-large item to the tailor and have it fitted to your body but you can't make a small thing any bigger.

Tailoring from an actual tailor is honestly the solution to some of these issues - for example I now always buy hoodies in massive sizes so they properly cover my bum and then have the width and excess arm length taken out so that they properly fit me and have a slight waist.

It does cost money for skilled labour so it is only an option if you were thinking about paying £100 for a long-lasting item rather than £30.....but it is much more cost efficient and you end up with nicer stuff to buy something costing £50 and get it to fit perfectly, than something in the same fabric and higher price point that still isn't quite right.

@Yadayadada late to this thread but…I’m (or was) a huge Cabbages and Roses fan and have a wardrobe full of their stuff. Nothing since the 2023 sale though. I always had to cut out a lot of their awful polyester linings but still loved them - then they started making the actual dresses from polyester as well and I was done.

Also since the death of Christina (may she rest in peace) the prices have gone out of my budget (one of the coats was £1000 last year and dresses are now high hundreds) and the designs have become too extreme, for literal toddlers. Only the designer herself (she also models for them) has the kind of lifestyle or body to get away with a yoke seam gathered above the bust imo.

I used to sell on ebay when I got fed up with things but I’m hanging on to the lovely old wool and cotton clothes I have from them for dear life now, and making my own from good fabric and old C&R designs.

So where am I shopping? Toast. They’ve somehow revived their old heyday. Prices are up though, of course.
