What colour is it in real life? In some pics it looks brown, but it looks more aubergine in others. I like it best without the belt.

What do you think?

TurquoiseTurtoise · 17/01/2024 13:28

@hellsBells246
I plan to let the belt hang and the colour is aubergine apparently

Right! If you like the colour when it arrives, then go for it!

Looks very versatile - you could dress it up or down.

spackleplumb · 17/01/2024 13:37

I like it. The colour is gorgeous and more warming than black, the style is classic and the belt can be worn or discarded dependant on the outfit or your mood that day. It's perfect. Do you like it? That's what matters most.

katsusando · 17/01/2024 13:50

Do you really need to buy a coat now? Why don't you put whatever you've budgeted to spend aside and buy something in August/September/October when there will be more available.

This was, you can actually think about what kind of coat you want, be it colour, style, fabric content etc. etc. and look for that/try lots on and make an informed decision as to what to buy, rather clutching at straws (which is what you seem to be doing now).

I usually buy a new coat every winter. This is the only winter I haven't because there isn't anything, and I started looking back in the Autumn. Money I would have spent will go towards next year's coat and that way, my budget will be larger which gives plenty more scope

I have a few events coming up soon where I have to dress smarter but I only have puffa coats atm and a very old acrylic one so I'd rather buy now that I have the cash available and it will still be cold until March at least rather than wait for next winter and have to hunt again

Maybe next winter I will buy a black one

I like it and could only wish to wear something like that but my manly shoulders make me look like a bloody Mafia boss Confused

DuchessOfSausage · 17/01/2024 14:29

Return it. I'd get a dark navy one not black.

MaggieNextDoor · 17/01/2024 15:16

I like it but it's not very long.

JaneJeffer · 17/01/2024 15:24

I love it

Crikeyisthatthetime · 17/01/2024 15:30

I really like it. I've been looking for three years for a smarter coat with good wool content that doesn't swamp me or look too businesslike. I've ordered many and sent them all back. Which is why I wouldn't wait for another season if this one ticks all your boxes. Next season might be even worse!
Hope it works for you!

Sususudio · 17/01/2024 15:31

I really like it, especially the colour. Not sure if it can handle the current cold freeze.

Twazique · 17/01/2024 15:56

Love it!

EasternStandard · 17/01/2024 15:59

If you can do the colour and shape then yes great

NotFastButFurious · 17/01/2024 16:37

It's a nice enough coat and makes a change from the camel colour that everyone seems to be wearing in this sort of style. I wouldn't wear it myself but I'm not that fashionable!

TurquoiseTurtoise · 17/01/2024 17:35

This is one of the few styles that suit me

The model is taller than me so it will be longer on me

I love camel but it doesn’t suit me at all so I’d have to find a dark brow

I think it is good to have - a black, a navy, a brow/camel, a unusual colour - coats just in case

Winter is so grim and I struggle to leave the house so at least if I feel happy with a coat it helps

It's lovely. The colour is gorgeous and really versatile. I have a Hobbs coat in a similar shape and I'm really pleased with it. However it's worth reading the reviews as some are a little mixed.

Notellinganyone · 17/01/2024 17:57

I love it and have just ordered one myself!

ErrolTheDragon · 17/01/2024 18:18

It's a nice looking coat, but thinking back to the year in the 1970s when aubergine was the 'in' colour it may not really go with much else.

WhereAreWeNow · 17/01/2024 18:22

Very nice. I might get it myself!

Yeah

I googled Aubergine colour pallet and it goes well with all the colours I mainly use in the winter which is usually black, grey, very dark brown, red - there are many interesting looks online too

TheYearOfSmallThings · 17/01/2024 18:32

I preferred the black one you had before - this one is fine if you are sylphlike and small boned, but if you have shoulders or a deep chest or a stomach it could look very matronly, especially with this colour.

WagWoofWalkMeeoow · 17/01/2024 18:33

MaggieNextDoor · 17/01/2024 15:16

I like it but it's not very long.

@MaggieNextDoor

not very long

its 104cm. On me that would be past my ankle bone!!

@TurquoiseTurtoise

I don't like the big collar at the back.

why not go to a few actual shops & try them
on?
