Would you think about trying vinted ? Might tide you over until later this year?

MaggieNextDoor · 17/01/2024 18:44

WagWoofWalkMeeoow · 17/01/2024 18:33

@MaggieNextDoor

not very long

its 104cm. On me that would be past my ankle bone!!

@TurquoiseTurtoise

I don't like the big collar at the back.

why not go to a few actual shops & try them
on?

I read 41 inches from collar to hem and that wouldn’t be long on me at 5ft 9

EmeraldA129 · 17/01/2024 19:10

I love love love this! Great choice op!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/01/2024 19:13

Beautiful - love the colour. Whoever said it is 'matronly' is talking utter bollocks imho.

It's more formal than I'd generally choose, but I'm a bit (lot) of a scruff.

Shinyandnew1 · 17/01/2024 19:15

I wouldn’t do the belt up (as I don’t think it would be very flattering on me!) as you’ve said, but I really like it. I love the colour!

MangoesAndPeaches · 17/01/2024 19:20

I love it!

riverlodge90 · 17/01/2024 19:28

I love it! I have a similar camel coloured coat and wear it all the time and is very warm. I love the colour of yours and £209 is great for the wool content

RunnerDown · 17/01/2024 19:32

I think it’s lovely and aubergine goes with most other colours. Hobbs coats are good quality. And there’s lots of time left to wear a wool coat this winter

Dibilnik · 17/01/2024 20:51

Ohhhhh, I think it's absolutely gorgeous! A proper coat coat.

It reminds me of one I had in my late teens (1970s). I always felt so happy in it. In fact I wonder what happened to it, I'd love to wear it again now!

Mirabai · 17/01/2024 21:09

This is 100% better than your previous one.

Pluses are - really good colour - not black, not navy, not brown - all boring.
Much better cut and fit than the previous one and more classic and less 80s.

Minuses - it’s not 100% wool but you can’t have everything.

I really hope it fits you.

Mirabai · 17/01/2024 21:13

ErrolTheDragon · 17/01/2024 18:18

It's a nice looking coat, but thinking back to the year in the 1970s when aubergine was the 'in' colour it may not really go with much else.

You can’t take “aubergine” that literally! 😂 - you could call it damson, claret, dark burgundy, oxblood yadda yadda.

mdinbc · 17/01/2024 21:21

I really like it as well.

Jaegerbum · 17/01/2024 21:49

Love the colour.

A good wool coat in a slightly noticeable colour looks great (and expensive) imo. I have a bottle green one that goes with a surprising number of outfits and gets a lot of compliments.

DoubleFunMum · 17/01/2024 22:07

Looks like a dressing gown. Just my opinion though.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/01/2024 22:08

you could call it damson, claret, dark burgundy, oxblood yadda yadda.

You could call it what you want but it's nothing like claret or oxblood.
Mind you, they're calling the jumper it's styled with 'camel' Confused

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 17/01/2024 23:51

No.
I don't like the colour.
Or the length - it's too short to be a good winter coat.
It's too tight and skimpy.
The pocket stitching looks odd.
I don't like the odd, slightly off centre fastening.
It looks far cheaper than £369.

lunepremiere79 · 18/01/2024 06:12

The wool content is not great imho. You can do much better for the price, Cos, Arket, &other Stories and Karen Millen will do do coats that good quality, stylish and between 90 and 100%wool. Jigsaw is worth a look as well

Zanatdy · 18/01/2024 07:29

i like it. But it doesn’t look like it will keep you very warm

Whatever you call it, the colour has been around for some time, and it goes with many colours in the autumn palette.

SnapdragonToadflax · 18/01/2024 11:16

I like it. In fact I've been looking for a good quality coat like this, but dark green. It is quite formal but it would go with anything, really. Love the colour and the pocket detail.

It does have potential to be too thin to be a decent winter coat, but that depends what you need it for and how it feels on. If it pulls at all I would send it back as that will make it look cheap. I do not like the belt at all, I think they're hugely unflattering and make people look like they're wearing a dressing gown. However as it has buttons and you don't intend to wear it tied, that's fine.

Incidentally, is that brunette model Erin O'Connor? It really looks like her. If so, she's 6ft, not 5"9.

SebastianFlytesTrousers · 18/01/2024 11:41

I love it and it's so much nicer than those awful slug/duvet coats, which I absolutely hate (apologies to anyone who has one).

Thanks
What do you mean ‘if it pulls’

There are reviews saying as it is not buttons but poppers and that can be annoying and unflaterring imo

I will have to try on and see

The coat arrived but looks awful on me, I think it is the colour and the collar too, plus I don’t like not having buttons

Returning tomorrow
Hobbs return system is not the most convinient

I saw this one and was not sure on the teal colour and military style buttons but I might as well try and see!
