buy solid gold necklace, yellow , rose gold or white gold, won't tarnish. I did not took off my tiffany necklace in 6 years but you don't need to buy from tiffany just buy solid gold :)

I do occasionally take it off and throw it in the ultrasonic as I'm always telling off clients for not cleaning their jewellery!

Anything plated (even vermeil) will eventually wear off if worn constantly. White gold is often plated with rhodium to hide the natural greyish colour of some alloys and that will need to be redone at intervals.
