Never wear black does anyone else dress in bright colours only?

maybe we could turn this into a thread of where we get our coloured clothes/outfit inspiration

people always call me the colourful lady and I’ve never seen anyone who really dresses like me (not around here anyway)

I'm much older now and I wear neutral colours for top and bottom, but love bright hats, scarves, gloves and big jewelly coloured "jewellery".

So my dull grey puffa jacket (necessary now) is offset with a purple cashmere scarf (so warm), a yellow hat, and scarlet gloves. A multicolour backpack or bag also. That's Winter wear!

Summer is anything goes, I never match colours, the more the merrier and layers of different colours like silky shirts, chiffon (ish) decorative scarves and bright red or yellow shoes etc. make me smile!

I do dress conservatively for some things though, depends on where I'm going, but I always try to add some colour somewhere in there especially with white cotton or linen.

I wouldn’t say I dressed ‘colourfully’ but I do like colour and have been getting some nice things off Vinted, including a blue coat to replace my very old red one, and it makes me happy! It particularly makes a difference in winter I think - nice coloured coat, colourful umbrella, and the world is that bit cheerier.

CharmedCult · 14/01/2024 20:52

I did a House of Colour day years ago and I’m a paintbox spring, so I never wear black.

My best colours are coral, flamingo pink, Kerry green, hyacinth, tomato red.

I’ve had some real bargains from Vinted, especially out of season. I try and look for quality classic pieces rather than fast fashion, I recently got a beautiful coral coloured cashmere cardigan like brand new for £18.

I made this decision a few years ago. Coloured coat, patterned colourful dresses, bright tights, lots of print. I have the odd darker things which I tend to wear if feeling a bit blue buy not often.
Mostly if people comment on my clothes it's positive but there are sometimes there are back handed compliments.
I did have one if my daughters friends ask me why I was dressed like a child when I had a dungaree dress on!

I would say out of work I wear very colourful clothes . Actually even in work I wear colourful cat leggings with my dull polo shirt

I love patterns especially with cats on soooo yes lots of colour

Garlicnaan · 14/01/2024 21:03

I've worn a lot of colour for the past 15 years but have recently added in more neutrals and even a bit of black, having not worn black for decades. I have my daytime look sorted but struggle with colours that suit me for evening. I'm a light spring so light, bright, warm colours look best and there's v little going out type stuff in my style in those colours!

keffie12 · 14/01/2024 21:21

Colour is the name of my game. I'm a boho punk look for the older woman. My colours are warm colours of pinks, reds, orange and teal also works. Loud and proud. As im told, I have my own unique style

I don't do mutton dressed as lamb. Yes, I can wear my look. Not all can. I also have bright coloured hair. ATM is copper base with red highlights and a block of fashion flaming orange in the front.

I'm due a change even if only small like the block in the front of my hair. I will probably go for the fashion pink next time.

I don't do black unless for funerals.. I have one black dress for it, if needed

Me, love colour. I like bright patterned dresses, rarely buy anything black. Love brightly coloured tights, DM boots, birkies in summer. Always bright and/or shiny. I feel like a magpie🤣

I'm nearly 50 but have always been the same.

SuffolkUnicorn · 17/01/2024 19:52

That’s exactly how I dress I love my run and fly pinafores with coloured tights paired with my rainbow brite cardigan 🌈

I'm in my 50's and love colour and also unusual prints. I have started to make my own clothes so I have more option. Often been stopped and complemented which is 🙂

SuffolkUnicorn · 17/01/2024 20:17

I wish I could make my own clothes but I can just about sew on a button so I have to get someone to make me one off pieces. I either get the wtf is she wearing or really lovely compliments

ZaZathecat · 18/01/2024 09:02

Same here. Spring type. There's nothing in the shops for me so i stick to a palette of warm, light neutrals mainly, with the occasional bright hat, jumper or nail polish.
I look dead in black so i stick to grey.

batterypark · 19/01/2024 00:13

Yes. I love colour and patterns. My hair is very bright too. Vinted is amazing if you can put the time in searching.
TU do some unusual prints and good brights
Simply Be for dresses
Snag tights
Jenny Juice for leggings
I have various fake furs with bold patterns on from online catalogue searching
Joanie have some lovely 70s print dresses.
I like Clark’s t bar shoes in silver and colours.

MaMisled · 19/01/2024 00:20

I was under the illusion that I didn't look fat if I wore black, from the age of 17 to 45, What a waste!!!! I now never ever wear black and I'm very colourful!
