Should I chop it all off???

Hi everyone!
I never post but here we go
I have a birthday coming up and a haircut booked for Tuesday. I am thinking of going to and asking my hairdresser to chop off my hair into a Bob somewhat like the pic attached.
I have straight hair and with a fringe and currently lots of layers, at its longest it reaches to underboob length.
Now I have had short hair before, I have had a pixie cut before and a Bob but the last time I had a Bob it verged on Lord Farquad because it was all one length 😅
I'm going back and forth if I should do it or not!! My hair grows fast but I'm getting married in August and I want it in an updo!! I'm unsure if it'll grow back in time but think I may be being a scardy cat 😆
Opinions?

Should I chop it all off???

I was all for it until you mentioned the wedding. Wait until after. It only takes the stylist being a bit too keen and it might not grow back in time.

LauderSyme · 14/01/2024 20:20

Love that cut - but wouldn't it have to grow very fast to be able to wear it in an updo for your wedding (without an absolute ton of hair grips)?

MerryMarigold · 14/01/2024 20:23

It's really Iovely but will still be short for wedding.

MillicentRogers · 14/01/2024 20:24

That haircut only suits the young an elfin face shaped women.

Keep hair long until after the wedding.

Haircutadvice · 14/01/2024 20:25

@LauderSyme @MamaGhina yes I did think that but I don't know if I just wanted an updo because I dislike my long hair down, I may compromise with myself and go shoulder length? Or maybe that still wouldn't grow back 🤔

If you want an updo in August, do not chop it all off now.

TheLogicalSong · 14/01/2024 20:26

I read advice that said never do anything drastic to your hair in the run up to a wedding, which seemed sensible.

Other ones I am considering

Seems absolutely crazy to chop off your hair now if you need it long enough to be in an updo for your wedding later this year!

What's the point in cutting it cut in a new style only to immediately have to start growing again?!

That particular haircut will be tricky to get right and tricky to grow out if it's a disaster too as it's so choppy and uneven.

Haircutadvice · 14/01/2024 20:30

I am in my 20s @MillicentRogers

and had very short hair when i met my fiancé maybe that's why I kind of want it back @TheLogicalSong

I know but I only really want an updo because I dislike my long hair down, it is quite fine and flat and has been reminding me of rats tails recently (no hate to rats I had some lovely pet rats... just not what I want my hair to look like) @All2Well
I often feel quite self conscious with my hair up because I think my head looks small 😅

All2Well · 14/01/2024 20:37

Well, whatever you decide, hair grows on average 1 inch every 2 months. So you're looking at 4 inches maximum growth, if you're lucky.

sockmuncher · 14/01/2024 20:45

No no no!

I cut my hair to chin length from under boob level and its been a horrific experience growing it out.

I've never seen anyone who looked better AFTER they cut their hair into a pixie / bob cut. If you really want to try it I would go for a chin length cut but, that haircut is too extreme to start with I think (never mind horrendous even on the models!).

If the model doesn't look good, I can bet you won't look good. Especially if you have a small head (like me).

Haircutadvice · 14/01/2024 20:46

Good point, maybe i shouldnt chop it all off then, I guess i just thought my hair grows fast because my fringe has grown over an inch since my last trim at the start of december @All2Well

Beamur · 14/01/2024 20:50

I've just gone (back) to a chin length choppy bob from long and have no regrets.
In your position I would go for a long bob - it's quite on trend now and would grow long enough to put up.

Haircutadvice · 14/01/2024 20:51

@sockmuncher Okay 😆, I still think alot needs chopping off, when I say its underboob, there are 2 thin strands that length because of all the layers, I stand by that needing to go atleast

OP posts:
Haircutadvice · 14/01/2024 20:54

Good idea I suppose if I love it I can always go shorter @Beamur

KangarooPaw · 14/01/2024 20:55

I think you sound very fixed on cutting it off and as someone with a history of impulsive and dramatic changes of hairstyle, if you know it will suit you, go for it.

It will grow and you’ll be able to do something with it by summer unless you have a proper pixie

SingingCats · 14/01/2024 21:01

Get a lob

tealandteal · 14/01/2024 21:07

I was also all for it until you mentioned the wedding. I chopped all my hair off after the wedding and before the honeymoon. If felt amazing!

Keep it long and get it styled nicely.

Haircutadvice · 14/01/2024 21:14

@tealandteal good point

WagWoofWalkMeeoow · 14/01/2024 21:17

Give your head a wobble not a chop!!

utter utter madness before your wedding. Get it trimmed, a tiny trim. Have fun with the length until the wedding. Get it up nicely for the wedding then shave it if you want to!

pigtails, french plaits, bunches... embrace your inner child (you won't have to reach too far for it!!)

have fun with it the length it is.

Haircutadvice · 14/01/2024 21:21

@WagWoofWalkMeeoow I've been trying !! But I suppose I'll try harder the general concensus on here is that i shound not cut it all off😅

Flensburg · 14/01/2024 21:23

Well, I don't think you're crazy! I think that haircut is gorgeous, so if your hair type and face shape are similar to the model's - go for it!

Thehamsterthatcametotea · 14/01/2024 21:28

Agree with others about waiting until after the wedding but I have a really similar style and also have fine very straight hair and love this style. It’s got a lot more body and movement.
