DS 19 wants a suit(s)

Student DS wants a suit for internships; maybe also smart enough for smart parties/ sober enough for weddings and funerals. Or perhaps a day suit and a dress suit. Budget: high street I guess.
Are M&S and Next good places to look? Anywhere else?

There are a few formals at his university and I remember mostly in my day people hired once or twice a year for black tie but maybe it's worth having one of his own.

Where did you buy your DS's first suit?

DS got his first suit as an 18th birthday gift from his Grandad. We went to a couple of local independents rather than high street stores as he is tall and skinny so needs long leg trousers and a 29” waist. (28” would actually be better but even the independents couldn’t get us that!)

He ended up with this House of Cavani suit (although had to buy it as separates in order to get the slim fit version) He also liked some Herbie Frogg ones. Those two brands are pretty popular with young men apparently (the two places we went to also do suit hire for formals and weddings etc) and they’re decent quality without being too expensive. DS went for the green because he wanted something a little different to a black/navy/grey and has already worn it as a full suit for 3 formals and a wedding in the last 9 months, as well as worn the trousers and a formal shirt, or the trousers, waistcoat and shirt for slightly dressier nights out - like NYE this year. He has a variety of ties to wear with it inc a couple of the Cavani knitted ties which look great with it.

The hardest thing to find was dress shoes to go with it. He wears trainers with it on some nights out but wanted dress shoes for some events and that was a whole things getting ones he liked which didn’t make him look like a middle aged man!

Caridi Olive Check Three Piece Suit

Introducing the New Caridi Olive to our Autumn/Winter collection. This stunning tweed check suit would pair nicely with out white Cavani Slim Fit Shirt and Albert Brown Tie. If it’s the casual look you’re going for why not we...

Both DS had suits for 6th form at school. After one from Moss Bros which lasted two terms for DS1 we went for washable wool from M&S as could buy trousers and jackets separately so no compromise with sizing. For school had two pairs of trousers as well. Suits were easily washable over the weekend as well.
For DJ we purchased from a Charity shop, lots of choice and good quality. More recently DS has purchased from Salters, he is tall and slim and they altered it for him.

The model on the House of Cavani looks as if all the jackets are a bit too short and the trousers are a bit too tight.

Maybe I'm showing my age, but this thread has had me googling men's suits and nothing which came up holds a candle to the late, great be-suited Robert Palmer.
