Going for the chop!

I'm looking for advice.
I'm sick of my below shoulder length hair. So thinking if a drastic change.
Anyone else got any advice or tips.
Wanting to go for an above the shoulder bob. I have thick hair, which is currently calmed with a keratin blow dry, so fairly straight, frizz free but normally has a wave.
Thinking of these styles as ideas?

I can't see anything!

Instead of chopping it off what about different ways to wear it up?

If it's thick and short it may bush out and I'm picturing you liking like Wendolene Ramsbottom.

Go and speak to a stylist, get their advice.
a good one will advise you what’s best for your hair style and face shame.

UserM6 · 11/01/2024 06:58

Meh to the “ask advice”. Amy hair can be made to look any way you want. The Op has wavy hair that’s been straightened for example. Who says a long face needs a bob or whatever. Hair trends become popular with everyone regardless of suitability.

Get it cut if you want it cut. My only consideration would be shorter hair with layers is harder to put up ( no pictures so can’t see what you’re aiming for )

I went from long to bob and I love it. It's so much more flattering and easier to look after.

Quitelikeacatslife · 11/01/2024 07:21

According to the golden globes coverage of Jennifer Anniston, the Rachel cut is back . Jokes aside it is a flattering cut to most people

Mine was like that when I got married in 2001! But flicked out at the bottom

EasterIssland · 11/01/2024 23:26

I’m like you and thinking about having mullet or pixie as I tend to wear my hair on pony tail. But have had 20years of long hair so worried about chopping it off

Garlicnaan · 11/01/2024 23:37

I absolutely love a thick wavy bob. It would be my dream hair! It can look so cool. Sadly my hair is thin and straight!

And the bob is in

Here...,

This is outdated. Don't get this. A straight cut bob like the ones posted in the link above are much more modern and fresh.

It's nerve wracking isn't it, but I need a change so gonna get an appt booked. Get out if this rut I'm stuck in!
How long is your hair now?

Sadly I don't like these and many aren't suitable for my hair type.

OP posts:
Pancakeorcrepe · 12/01/2024 07:15

OP I loved a bob and it did suit me, but bear in mind it is more maintenance than slightly linger hair. It needs to be cut more often to look good, normally needs a bit more styling. The main thing that bothered me was that I couldn’t put it up in a ponytail when needed.

KirstenBlest · 12/01/2024 10:03

Here...,
No. If you have a wave, you'll be fighting it. You'll need to have it trimmed every few weeks.

From the glamour ones, I only like Jennifer Aniston's hairstyle.

@Falkenburg , Objection!
Misogynist and ageist term.

A layered wavy bob

Growlybear83 · 12/01/2024 13:20

Don't do it! You will regret cutting your lovely long hair!

toottootmummy · 12/01/2024 14:54

Also I like this but definitely above the shoulders?

@Falkenburg how rude

KirstenBlest · 12/01/2024 15:25

@toottootmummy . If you want to try it then do.

I wouldn't because I'd look nothing like the models, I can't be bothered to blow dry my hair every day, and I'd be fearing any drizzle.
I have slow growing hair but would need it trimmed every 5 weeks.
