Going for the chop!

I'm looking for advice.
I'm sick of my below shoulder length hair. So thinking if a drastic change.
Anyone else got any advice or tips.
Wanting to go for an above the shoulder bob. I have thick hair, which is currently calmed with a keratin blow dry, so fairly straight, frizz free but normally has a wave.
Thinking of these styles as ideas?

Those really short bobs in the glamour magazine article don’t particularly even suit the celebrities. They are very harsh unless you can carry it off. I personally couldn’t!

KirstenBlest · 13/01/2024 14:12

@Singingasong , they are, and they're on people with very good bone structure who have probably been styled, possibly tweaked, and professionally made up. Those women would look good with any hairstyle.

Fleabag! Phoebe Waller Bridge has my ideal short cut.

KirstenBlest · 13/01/2024 17:05

@ReadtheReviews , her haircut really suits her, and the style probably suits her hair. I read somewhere that she had long hair and a stylist insisted on the cut, and it made a big difference.

Some actresses really suit short hair. Judi Dench, Mia Farrow, Carey Mulligan...

That is fairly similar to whatI i had done yesterday! I went from 'jesus' hair. Long hair with centre parting which was frizzy brittle, wavy and just not nice to a kind of Bob, longer in front with side parting fringe. At first wasn't sure. Looked a bit 'wiggy' I thought at first but is a lot lighter. I am pretty pleased with it. I just need to colour the grey/white now. The rest of my hair goes a lightship yellowy brown but I suit a darker brown.

I went from below shoulder blades length to practically shaved. Going through a tough time and being ill, losing it in clumps so it all came off. It's growing back now, and is a very grown out pixie. It's so annoying! Go for whatever you fancy, and if you love it you'll rock it, just if you go very short, be prepared for the weird and wonderful grow out phases! What you have shared looks very cute though, and wouldn't be an issue to gain length back

@toottootmummy - how did it go? I had my witchy hair cut into a bob 6 months ago and haven’t looked back. It has revitalised me.

KirstenBlest · 20/01/2024 16:40

@Arabaloosa , I have hair that grows slowly and only once did I have the pixie cut. I was bored of it after a few weeks and it took a long time to grow out.

Hair all gone! ✂️
Long-ish bob, at th front, but slightly graduated to the back! Love it and tbh I should have been braver and gone shorter at the front too. Next time definitely!
It feels so light now, definitely don't regret it

@KirstenBlest I totally get that. It wasn't really a choice to have it so short, it was that or patchy hair... Think moth-eaten!

BoilingHotand50something · 20/01/2024 16:55

@toottootmummy yay - so pleased!

Arabaloosa · 20/01/2024 17:01

@toottootmummy it sounds lovely. Bet your head feels lighter and you keep swishing it!

KirstenBlest · 20/01/2024 17:05

@Arabaloosa , you were brave. I have quite a lot of hair and when I had some hair loss it wasn't particularly noticeable.
If you look good with a pixie cut, I'd keep it short

I get nagged to get my hair bobbed but it is too high maintenance for me, and I've had some bad haircuts because my hair is wavy.
