After some jeans that wont get baggy knees after a couple of wears Im a size 16/18 can anyone help. Currently wear jeans from next but after seeing a photo
of myself in them they look so scruffy and baggy so the hunt is on for better quality jeans. Can anyone point me in the right direct please as Im 42 and still havent found any decent jeans. Even bought levis once which cost a lot and they didnt last any longer than cheap ones. Wore threw on the inside of my big thighs lol.

I have some Primark (mom jeans) ones that are really good quality but I had to size up a couple of sizes to get them over my belly.

However they're long, probably 32"

KirstenBlest · 08/01/2024 19:17

M&S. Try lots of styles.

Jules912 · 08/01/2024 19:34

Which next ones do you have? I live in the lift, slim and shape ones ( I like slim, bootcut don't suit me at all) but do think it depends a lot on your body shape what works. I also discovered they do in between sizes which is a total game changer.

Snoozymoozy · 08/01/2024 19:36

I find the same with next jeans. My favourite pair are from gap and I recently bought a nice pair from m&s! Both are 'hard' denim so hold their shape well.

Nik2879 · 08/01/2024 21:39

Just the normal skinny jeans. Good fit but think theres too much elastic in them so gone really baggy now after a few wears.

I find River Island jeans are the best.

clappity · 08/01/2024 21:56

I have chunky thighs. Something happens when I sit down where the trouser/jean leg goes tighter around my thighs. This didn't happen when I was skinny. I'm not sure why it happens but if you google trousers tighter on thigh when sitting you will find lots of people asking the same.

I have found now that I have chunkier legs, I get worse knee bags than when I was skinny. Something about the extra tension put on the fabric when one is bigger

Not very helpful but just an observation.

Sorry I wasn't sure what the correct description would be so went with 'hard' denim 😂But I mean denim with no elastic/stretch in it, like the type you'd find in a denim jacket.
I think it looks so much more flattering than stretchy denim that goes baggy

Nik2879 · 09/01/2024 06:54

@Snoozymoozy Yes thsts what I want suppose I need to actually go in the shops than rather than buying online.

I love the Lift, slim and shape jeans from Next

Sunsea21 · 09/01/2024 07:04

I love the “harper” jeans from m&s, they are really hard wearing and also fit perfectly. Highly recommended

TonightMatthewIamgoingtobecher · 09/01/2024 07:18

You want to avoid jeans with lycra/elastane. These jeans stretch out and get baggy and are thinner so that they wear out at top of thighs quickly.

I get M&S boyfriend which have a higher percentage of denim so are thicker.. Don't size up as jeans stretch after wear in time.

They will be labelled 100% cotton. Description might say 'rigid'. You may find them uncomfortable though

Curlewwoohoo · 09/01/2024 07:29

But if you're wearing skinny jeans won't they need elastic to get them on? Maybe try straight leg? M&S sienna are good. I've gone the other way and wearing jogger fit though 😁

We used to call them cardboard jeans, that's what they feel like after washing!

Nik2879 · 09/01/2024 10:25

Thanks so much everyone. M and S seems to be very popular. Never tried jeans from there so gonna go in and try some on. Finally might find a decent pair.

I only buy 100% cotton, so no stretch. It's the stretch that make them go baggy eventually.

AlbaAurora · 09/01/2024 12:28

Monki Taiki Jeans, game changer

Nik2879 · 09/01/2024 13:19

@AlbaAurora never heard of that make. They are a good price to.

I have tried many m&s pairs and got on with none of them. Having sworn off jeans, ui recently bought wide legs in Mango and I love them. And yes 100% cotton, no stretch is the only way to go.

I also recommend Next Lift Slim and Shape slim jeans. Wouldn't buy from anywhere else of a different range. Sizing is pretty consistent i find.

BatteryPowerGnat · 09/01/2024 16:37

I wouldn't wear rigid or 100% cotton jeans, far too uncomfortable for my liking.

Nik2879 · 16/02/2024 09:27

@Blarn czn I ask where you get them from please. Been looking online they all seem to be made with at least 1% elastane which my current next ones are that have gone baggy. Cant find 100% cotton.

Weekday are the brand I really like and I get them from Asos. The waist are a little small so I add an inch but they are really thick denim. But Asos put the material composotion in the description so it is easy to spot stretch!
