Osprey Purse - would you accept this?

DumpseyDaisey · 06/01/2024 10:49

DH bought me an Osprey purse for Xmas.

The 'O' in the Osprey lettering is half missing due to a natural dip in the material.

Would you consider this part of the leather effect, so not a fault, or a mistake?

The photo on the website has the logo situated so that this doesn't happen ( I've attached 2 pics)

If I saw this one in a shop I'd put it down and find one where the O is complete, but is that a good enough reason to send it back?

For context: they failed to deliver before Xmas as the courier said we weren't in to sign ( we were) and then when Osprey resent, they sent a handbag by mistake, so this is the third attempt to get my purse. I've kind of lost the will to try again, but I think every time I look at it I won't be happy......could do with an outside opinion

I agree with you. I wouldn't be happy with that. In fact it looks like a fake.

DumpseyDaisey · 06/01/2024 11:28

Thanks @determinedtomakethiswork
It's definitely from the official site but it helps to hear you wouldn't be happy either

I expect the picture on the website had been enhanced and would look like yours in reality.

Wowzel · 06/01/2024 11:30

I wouldn't be happy either, it looks like a second - not sure how it got past quality checking seeing as they are expensive

WhereIsBebèsChambre · 06/01/2024 11:31

Definitely wouldn't be happy and also agree looks like a second!

Fannyfiggs · 06/01/2024 11:33

I wouldn't be happy with that either and would return it.

BaronessBomburst · 06/01/2024 11:35

No, I'd return that.

DumpseyDaisey · 06/01/2024 11:38

Thank you for all the input. I'm going to ask DH to send it back

Why is it so important to have the “Osprey” stamp perfect? If you’re happy with the quality of the wallet otherwise.

But then I find the display of labels a bit naff. It suggests a kind of showing off or a lack of confidence in your personal style so you rely on labels.

The quality of the bag is the main thing, surely.

WhereIsBebèsChambre · 06/01/2024 11:40

Hope we've not all quashed the present joy @DumpseyDaisey but I think it would annoy you every time you used it and saw it! It would for me!

Namechange4448830938489 · 06/01/2024 11:42

Send it back for sure!

MrsMarzetti · 06/01/2024 11:44

Send it back.

Redlarge · 06/01/2024 11:48

Send it back. Mine (£4 from a charity shop) looks better than that.

MrsQTip · 06/01/2024 11:48

The logo in the first photo (their website photo) has been photoshopped on. I suppose being crocodile or crocodile effect the logo will always end up being over a raised area

Evanesy · 06/01/2024 12:10

Because of the fabric, if the O isn’t in the dip, another letter will be.

Definitely substandard. Send it back.

Gosh, you’re a charmer aren’t you. Making out the OP has personality defects simply because she wants her wallet to look the way it should look. Nice.

PieAndLattes · 06/01/2024 13:02

Are you sure he didn’t get it from TK Maxx? It always has loads of Osprey.

That was my thought too.

Any chance of you going in person to choose one?

WonderingWanda · 06/01/2024 13:09

It's a stupid design to print onto a textured surface like like.

This, it is clearly not real in the first one.

SunnyWinterDay · 06/01/2024 13:10

I thought that too. I have a an Osprey purse from there that was much cheaper.

RNBrie · 06/01/2024 13:12

The word is wider than the texture of the fabric so you're always going to end up with part of a letter in a dip... I don't think another one will be better but if you don't like it send it back, you're well within your rights.

MrsQTip · 06/01/2024 13:19

Photoshop aside, I’ve an Osprey backpack, it is very well made and still looks new three years later (in constant use) so perhaps OP would be better choosing a different finish, the logo on my bag is embossed

DumpseyDaisey · 06/01/2024 19:29

@MrsQTip I agree with you, I've had a few lovely handbags from them in the past, they used to have a branch behind Selfridges when I worked nearby and was in there often!

Bit if I'd seen this purse on the shelf I wouldn't have bought it 🙁
