Lipstick challenge January 2023!

Sorry I'm late! I've missed this thread the last few years, (if there was one!) Some of you know of my lipstick hoarding tendancies, although I didn't buy that many last year, I was buying nail polish instead! I have hundreds of lipsticks, in all the shades of the rainbow and then some!

This game is simple. Dig out your neglected lippies and wear a different one each day, and post a picture of it, either of yourself wearing it or the tube. 😊 I need to get back into wearing lipstick, my lips have been horrendously dry this winter so I've been wearing lip balm instead! 🏜️

Count me in! I used to do this in December and call it lipstick advent. I emptied one of my work bags the other day and found 8 lipsticks. I probably own about 50. Doesn’t help that I work in an industry that means I get a lot of beauty freebies and I never like to get rid of anything 😀

Yay! I'll start tomorrow, haven't been out all day, and I didn't wake up till after 2pm. 😅 (I blame being pregnant, and it was my day off.)

@Popcorndoggy Ooh, I love bold lipstick shades! I get all nostalgic for the late 2010s when things were wild! Although I believe NYX started it in 2014 with these beauties.

Yes I bought the whole collection! MAC did some weird and wonderful shades in 2017. It's hard to find the interesting colours now. Urban Decay and ABH had a lot as well, but no longer make them. The ones I bought last year were from 3INA. I actually think 2017 was the peak time for those colours.

@Festivemoose I too am a hoarder! Some of the lipsticks I own are over a decade old. I don't want to get rid of them! You're lucky to get freebies too! 😊

I have some Lipstick Queen lipsticks I refuse to part with (Medieval and Saint Rouge) despite their age. I’ve never been able to find a good dupe and they are discontinued 😭

Oh, I didn't realise Lipstick Queen were no more! 😟 I swear brands getting bought out leads to their demise. The same thing happened to Model's Own a few years ago, and I was not a happy bunny! (Although their nail polish formula did not work with my body chemistry at all. It would not dry on me!) They did some nice lipsticks though. 😊

Today I am wearing Nars Dragon girl . A red with definite pink undertones. I find it hard to get longevity from red lipstick. This is the pencil one and it glides on beautifully and isn’t drying . Just have to keep reapplying!

I always find it surprising how some of my old lipsticks are fine though years old
eg Revlon, Max Factor, yet some more expensive ones same age smell & taste rancid, looking at you Clinique!

Today was one of my oldest lipsticks and has been long discontinued 😬
Chanel Hydrabase in Rose Secret. It’s so old I’m shocked it doesn’t smell or look weird.
It feels a bit mumsy now I’m older, but it’s a nice safe option for work.

This was a freebie from work. Not overly keen on the pearl finish so it lives in the bottom of my second make up bag.

I've been rubbish at this! Not been feeling great and staying in bed. Lip balm all the way.

@Darklane Oh my goodness, yes! Revlon lipstick is everlasting. I was so worried when they nearly went under a couple of years ago. Their lipsticks are my favourite, and they've also branched out to some weird and wonderful colours, although the ones I really wanted were an Ulta exclusive and impossible to get hold of! I did manage to get some others via Amazon that were really pretty.

At the moment I just have a lip balm on from (I think Nivea) it has a bit of frost and is the wrong colour - a sort of subtle blue pink but I just wanted a balm to put on.

I don’t really have an awful lot of lipsticks - more than enough for me though and I’m going to keep rotating them this year so not wearing the same neutrals .

I tried wearing lipstick again at NY for the first time in a few years, and was horrified when it ‘bled’ all around my lips! I’m only in the 40s, and don’t smoke, but have the most horrendously dry skin since hitting perimenopause. Just had to wipe the lippy off as didn’t have a lip pencil that matched it. Is lip pencil the only way to stop the bleeding once it starts? It made me look about 80! I had been planning to start wearing makeup more regularly this year as part of trying to make more of an effort with ‘self care’, but no point if it’s goi g to look awful 😞

Blotting with a tissue and loose or pressed powder helps @AllTheChaos or a matte lipstick. I can't wear lipstick without liner though, I feel half done😂.

I have no lippie on today it's my day off. I love a green lipstick, but it's a bit much for work😂.

Thanks @ChishiyaBat, I will give it a go! I’ve stopped using face powder per se as it just emphasises all my fine lines (used to swear by Bare Minerals but that was pre-Peri, alas). Still got loads though so will try it with the lipstick. I’m rubbish with liner! I have really ill-defined lips, and it either ends up looking like I’ve drawn inside or outside the natural lip line 😬

I just took a picture as was going to try to show what I mean - never realised how wonky my mouth was!!

@AllTheChaos I use a lip brush to outline my lips as mine would look a bit wonky otherwise. It gives a nice sharp outline especially with bolder colours.

I do have a lip brush but never used it. Will give it a go @Popcorndoggy as am suddenly quite self conscious about it

If I try to put colour on that pale outer bit it looks odd, but odd if I don’t, too. What would you lipstick gurus recommend? Also please say this isn’t an extreme level of wonkyness!
