Fresh scalp

How to make scalp feel really fresh without harsh shampoos?

I have extremely fine, broken, menopausal hair. Ugh! It is dry and brittle.

But I find my scalp is less than fresh after using most shampoos. This only seems to be the case since perimenopause.

Dandruff shampoo does a great job and it keeps it fresh for 2-3 days which is good news for my poor broken hair (less blowdrying, etc).

But it's so, so harsh on my hair!

However, if I use moisturising gentle shampoos, I feel my scalp doesn't smell as clean as I'd like.

What a disgusting problem to have!

@Namechange4448830938489 thanks! I have a similar problem @letmechange . Going to try the Umberto Giannini product first as 3 people recommended it.

Boots do a scalp exfoliator with salicylic acid

Thank you so much for your help.

I'll try these, esp interested in the Umberto and the PM as they are both cruelty-free which I am getting on board with in 2024.

Yep, me too. I wish us both luck!

I use a scalp massage brush to really rub the shampoo into my scalp. I use Bumble and Bumbles Sunday shampoo once a week and then a gentler shampoo the rest of the week

Try a good hair oil. Use it sparingly and apply to the scalp and work out to the ends. One with Amla oil is probably a good choice. In fact, any hair product with Amla oil works wonders for me (and a few other people I know with the same problem). I am currently using an arcade skincare shampoo bar which has amla oil in it, it has settled my scalp down quite a bit and my hair feels the softest it has in a long time.
