Fair isle jumpers

I'm loving my fair isle jumper more and more every year, and wonder whether I should splash out on another one. It looks Christmas-y without being Christmas-y, which is particularly useful.

Where can I look for some lovely fair isle jumpers? I was looking forward to the Seasalt sale, but they seem to only have size 8s and 20s.

Ebay for cheap Brora and Celtic Co!

These are very authentic, but handknitted so also very pricey. More of an investment really!

Woolovers
got a sale on at moment too

Riverlee · 21/12/2023 17:35

Fatface, white stuff, Weird Fish et al are all doing non- Christmasssy Fairisle jumpers.

i love mine and have two which I’ve been wearing regularly. I’m glad they’re not just being associated with Christmas now.

GeneCity · 21/12/2023 17:35

Oh, I quite like one of the Celtic and Co ones 💛 - I might hang on in case they have a sale soon.

Monsoon have a lovely range

AccidentallyFabulous · 21/12/2023 18:12

It's worth checking eBay for the seasalt ones. They've got more sizes, but they're still full price on there.

ScarlettSunset · 21/12/2023 18:19

I like house of Bruar and woolovers..

LyndaSnellsSniff · 21/12/2023 20:17

I have this one. I absolutely love it and have worn it over and over.

Weird fish have got them in both blue and green , both gorgeous

Neitheronethingnortheother · 21/12/2023 20:35

Eribe's might not be the cheapest but they are hard wearing and warm. I bought one last September in Scotland and I basically lived in it last winter and this one so far

I would love another one but I prefer a v neck and it's hard to find fair Isle in a v neck

GeneCity · 21/12/2023 20:38

OK, now I want all of the fair isle jumpers 😄.

The Weird Fish ones are lovely, but the green one isn't available in my size.

I think fairisle sweaters never go out of style. I see trendier pink and bright colours, but some of them aren't actually wool, and they have raglan seams at the shoulder instead of being knit in the round with the pattern uninterupted.

I think it depends on if you are investing in a true fairisle style, or a colourful sweater that you will enjoy for a few years.

If you get a lot of wear from it, and it goes with a few items in your wardrobe then go ahead and buy another one!

Xmasgrinchmas · 21/12/2023 22:10

I was looking for one for my grandmother but they were all extortionate so I bought her a pair of slippers instead.

viques · 22/12/2023 09:25

Aw, this brought back memories, my mum used to knit fairisle, it requires a brain like a computer to keep track of the patterns and colours!

GeneCity · 22/12/2023 09:28

I was wearing my current and much-loved fair isle jumper yesterday, and there's a small hole in one of the arms 😮!

I’ve just bought a lovely weirdfish fairisle jumper from Go Outdoors, £29 members price. It’s so soft and really comfortable and such a good price.

LilyPAnderson · 22/12/2023 22:32

I once saw a nice Scandinavian design jumper in George Asda and went back to buy it, asking for the Scandinavian design jumper, and she said, oh you mean the Christmas one? lol Funny how Scandinavian has come to mean Christmas in Britain.

Chewbecca · 22/12/2023 22:36

I’ve got a lovely Celtic and Co one, but it looks dreadful on my (large) bosom sadly.
